C3 The beginning of the end

AMERICA DAVIES

"Let's get ready!" I told myself. I felt my wolf howl with excitement and I couldn't help but to smile.

A dress as beautiful as the night sky caught my attention as it shimmered in my wardrobe. "December twenty seven." I felt my lips curve into a smile as I remembered the backstory of the dress.

"Snap out of it!" I shook my head. I was far from ready when it was already seven. I slipped into the dress and it still fitted like a glove.

I heard a knock on my door and I knew it was none other than Celestia, my sister in the pack. She walked in with a few bags in her hands. "Ooh! Someone looks hot! Where is she going?"

"I'm going to see Travis."

She sighed, "are you going to sit at his porch again all night?"

"What no! He texted me." I smiled.

"Finally! That jerk." She sat on my bed. "The howling hollow is around the corner, it's just a few blocks away, what are we going to wear?" She grumbled.

"Is that why you brought your entire wardrobe to my house?"

"It's a fashion-mergency!"

"How do I look?"

"You look gorgeous. Here." She handed me her leather jacket, "it's cold outside."

"Thanks." I planted a kiss on her cheek and picked up my handbag, "bye!"

Waiting for me was none other than Travis, "Travis!" He got up as he heard my voice. I ran to hug him but he pushed me back and refused I touched him.

"This dress…" he squinted, trying to remember.

"The night of the howling hollow last year, remember, you told me I was a shining star." My cheeks flushed red, "does this bring back any memory?"

"It doesn't bring back anything." He plainly said.

"What?"

"I called you here tonight to tell you something very important." He frowned.

"Why do you look so gloomy?" I raised my hand to his face but he pushed my hand away.

"Don't…" I frowned at his reactions. "Let's break up."

"What?!"

"I, Travis Sky, reject you, America Davies, as my mate."

I felt the whole world come crashing down on me. It was a familiar feeling, a feeling I had felt a decade ago when I watched my parents get murdered. I did nothing, I couldn't do anything, I was only nine. I'm not nine anymore and I won't stand and do nothing again. "I don't accept."

"America, don't make this hard on us."

"I won't accept this, I won't! I can't live without you in my life Travis." I felt a cold liquid sip from my eyes. It was truly a cold night but I chose to wear an exposing outfit to impress my boyfriend but even he dressed warm.

"In no time, your second chance mate will come around and you won't even remember me."

"Really? The soon to be head Alpha of our community?"

"Forget me."

"Never." I turned around and began to take quick steps away from him.

"America!"

From quick steps to running, I didn't stop until I got home.

"Gumdrop what happened?" Celestia asked as I stood in front of her with teary eyes, she just pulled me in her arms. "It's okay baby."

It was a cold and stormy night, I had this odd phobia for cold and snow since my parents died and I was stranded in the snow for days, left to starve and then freeze to death but I faced my fear tonight to see him, now, all I'm left with is a freezing heart.

"Here, drink this." Celestia brought a sleeping serum like she had read my mind and I accepted it and drank every last drop. "That shady bastard, I can't believe he would do something like that to you." She sat next to me and handed me my emotional support teddy bear. "He just dumps you like that when his wedding is around the corner."

"Wedding?" I sat up in bed.

"He didn't tell you?"

"No! How do you know that?"

"I heard from my brother when I went out this morning, that warm blooded twisted lying, double crosser, heart breaking–"

"--I get it Celestia!"

"Sorry, he's a venomous wolf that tricks you to believe he likes you just to bite you where it'll kill you."

I felt my head banging and I placed a hand on my temple, "argh."

"Sorry princess, rest up, you've gone through enough."

I laid back in bed and was soon asleep.

"Argh!!!"

"Run America!"

"Howl!!!!"

I jolted awake from yet another nightmare. I curled into a ball on my bed. "What is left for me here?" I asked myself in tears. "I just don't belong here anymore."

After a few minutes, I gathered myself and packed a few things I might need then I texted Travis to meet up.

I picked up a pen to write but then I thought to myself, "no one must know, not even Celestia." "I'm so sorry I let you down Mom and Dad." I cried to myself. I decided to scribble on the paper the letters b-y-e in italics then dropped it on the floor, hoping it would never be found.

Here I was at the grey, waiting for Travis' arrival. I had my doubts but then I saw his wolf approaching me.

"You promised to protect me from my nightmares but now you are one." I smiled. "I accept your rejection and I wish you a happy marriage.

"You gave me this pendant when your Dad saved me from the snowstorm, you told me; plant it in your fear and it won't hurt you anymore." I paused for a moment to control my emotion.

His bright yellow eyes stared at me.

"I buried it in the snow ever since that day but in a place where I can still find it even in summer. I'm giving it to my worst fear." He accepted the pendant. "Goodbye Travis."

He howled as he ran into the darkness.

It was a bumpy ride all the way and I was in a cramped space for hours but I finally made it. "It's time to start over, welcome to Los Angeles, America."
