C5 Worst nightmare

AMERICA DAVIES

SEVEN YEARS LATER...

"Kids hurry up, it's time for breakfast!" I yelled out. I was flipping pancakes, making toasts, packing the kids lunch and preparing some fresh orange juice.

"Mom! Dara won't give me back Mr bunny ears!" Lara yelled out as she ran down the stairs, almost in tears.

"Lara please don't cry, Dara where is the teddy?"

"I only wanted to borrow it." Dara explained as he descended from the stairs with a stuffed rabbit in his hand.

"Well she doesn't want to borrow you right now, how many times have I told you to stop bugging your sister?"

"I'm sorry Mom, here you go Lara." He said as he handed the stuffed animal to his sister.

"Where is Cara?" I asked as I served them breakfast.

"In the bathroom." Lara said, already eating her pancakes.

"Why?"

"Her tooth fell out this morning." She said as she played with her pancakes and her leg dangled happily from the chair.

"Oh dear, Lara stop playing with your food, Dara finish your food, I'm going to get your sister." I ascended up the stairs.

Cara, Lara and Dara were triplets but they were nothing alike, right from their physical features, down to their personalities, they differed drastically.

Lara was blonde, Dara was brown haired and Cara was a brunette. Lara and Dara had one thing in common though, they loved to play but Cara didn't like the outdoors.

I went into their room but Cara wasn't there. I heard sobbing from the bathroom and I went to the door but didn't open it, "Cara dear, it's Mommy." There was no reply although the sobbing had ceased. "I'm coming in okay?"

After a few seconds, I pushed the door open and found my six years old sitting on the cold floor sobbing, with her knees raised to her chest and her hands wrapped around them. "Baby." I settled next to her on the cold tiles and rested my back on the wall.

"I'm so ugly and everyone is going to laugh at me." Cara sobbed.

"No they won't, look at me Cara." But she refused. "Look at me." I raised her face to mine and smiled at her, "can you smile for me?" She shook her head. "Smile for me baby." I insisted.

Cara was hesitant but later smiled at me, shining her teeth and a gap was revealed right at the front of her mouth.

"You look beautiful." I smiled.

"No I don't!"

"Yes you do, and whoever says otherwise to you, let me know so I can come to your school and beat them up." I punched the air and Cara giggled. "So, are you ready to go to school now?"

Cara nodded, "I am, I know you can't fight though."

"Me? I can beat anybody out there, as long as it's for you." I delicately touched the tip of Cara's nose with my index finger and she giggled. I pulled her to my chest and hugged her. "Now get up."

Cara and I both went downstairs and we had breakfast but only a little portion because the kids were already running late too.

"Alright let's go, into the car now!" I hurried them into the SUV.

The three trouble makers hopped into the backseats and fixed their seatbelts. I got in the driver's seat and started the engine. Without wasting any more time, I started down the road.

★★★

As we arrived at the end of the street, it was exceptionally silent and there were traffic cones blocking the road. I pulled over and waited in the car for a police officer to appear with a plausible explanation on why the road was blocked.

Instead, three men and a woman dressed in all black and hoods over their heads approached us.

My sixth sense warned me of danger so I remained seated in the car with the glasses winded up.

"Mommy what's going on?" Dara asked as he noticed the mysterious strangers that stalked our car.

"Nothing is wrong baby , just remain in your seat okay sweeties?"

"Yes Mom." The triplets echoed even though their expressions portrayed fear, I smiled reassuringly at them.

One of the men knocked on the window with his knuckles and gestured with his other hand to wind down and I obliged.

"Uh hi, how may I help you?" I forced a smile on my face.

"I'm gonna ask you to step down from the vehicle." He replied in a stern expression.

"Is there any problem?"

"Just do as he says!" The lady in their midst yelled out.

I undid my seat belt and opened the door to step out but Cara yelled out, "Mommy don't go please! I'm scared."

"It's fine sweetie, I'll only be a minute. No matter what happens, you three remain in the car.." They nodded.

I stepped down from the vehicle and the man began to rough handle me, "hey let go!" I struggled with him.

"J! We talked about this!" The lady yelled out, cautioning her minion.

"Sorry Riel." He responded but still held me by the arm.

"Did you just call my name?" She frowned.

"I'm sorry–"

"--Just shut up!" She yelled. "Hello pretty girl." She smiled as she pushed a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Who are you and what do you want?"

"Not much, just those three pups in your car."

"You better not touch my kids!" I snapped.

"D, grab the kids."

One of the men started towards the jeep and the kids were already frightened.

I punched J in the stomach and managed to free myself from his grip, I kicked Riel in the chest and knocked the wind out of her. I rushed over to the man they called D and started punching him, over and over, my hands were a flurry black blur. His face was bleeding and he collapsed to the ground.

The last henchman rushed towards me and lifted me towards the sky with his bear strength then slammed me hard to the ground, "argh!!!" I cried in pain.

"Bitch! Come here! You're mine!" Riel growled as she pulled me with a strength that seemed to be inhuman.

"Could she be a?" She raked her fingernails across my face, leaving pink scratches that turn red, filled with blood. "Argh!" I groaned. I frowned, "werewolf."

"Stupid bitch!"

“You want some of this?, come and get it!” I yelled as I wiped the blood that flowed down my cheek.

"Mommy!" Cara yelled out with teary eyes as J and the other henchmen bundled them into another black van at the other side of the road.

"Cara!" I yelled out and almost immediately, Riel came pouncing at me with full force and I landed on the ground.

"Mommy!" Dara yelled.

With her heel, she kicked me in the face and my vision became blurry.

"Come on Rie, we have no time to waste!" J called out to her.

She looked back at me and spat blood at my face, "you're a disgrace to our kind." She said before she walked away.

Our kind? I questioned myself as I laid on the ground almost lifeless, she must know what I am.

I managed to pick myself up from the ground but it was too late, the van had driven off… with my kids. "No!" I cried out in pain.

I dragged myself to my car to get my phone but I realized the cops would be their snacks. Then it hit me, there was only one person in the world that was powerful enough to track those rogue werewolves but dare I say it? I swore never to reach out to him again but I was desperate.

And so I decided to meet with the one person I thought I'd never see in my life again, Travis Sky.
