In the time that I’ve been turned to Adela, they’ve gotten even closer together than they were before. Mack is assuring Faith that she’s safe now, that whatever happened in her past can’t touch her here. That she has a place for as long as she wants one.

I wonder if Mack even knows he’s taken a step closer.
