C10 Pei Chenglin You Rascal
The club where Qin Yanting was located sat in the bustling heart of downtown. Since it was the evening rush hour, Wanwan arrived a bit late, though it didn't help that Pei Chenglin was deliberately driving at a snail's pace.
Chenglin leisurely signed in at the underground parking garage, his movements graceful yet slow, making Wanwan want to pound on the car window in frustration.
Finally finding a parking spot, Wanwan was eager to open the car door, but Chenglin locked it with a click.
"Pei Chenglin!" Wanwan's patience, built over twenty-five years, was completely worn out today. The anger in her eyes was practically blazing.
She had truly, truly never met someone so shameless!
"Are you done yet?" she shouted sharply. "What exactly do you want? We ended things a long time ago; you should have realized that five years ago!"
Chenglin narrowed his eyes, his thin lips uttering cold words, "Miss Nian, aren't you being a bit too self-important?"
Wanwan's anger subsided slightly as she glared fiercely at the man in the driver's seat, her tone harsh. "Fine, then tell me, what do you really want?"
"The Nian family is supposed to be well-mannered. Didn't they teach Miss Nian about gratitude?" Chenglin spoke nonchalantly, a look of carefree arrogance on his face.
Wanwan closed her eyes briefly, reminding herself to stay calm. With forced patience, she said, "Qin Yanting has already paid the hospital bills. For the days you're here, I'll compensate you at the rate of a high-level caregiver."
She knew Pei Chenglin wasn't after what he claimed, but she had no desire to engage with him further.
"Oh? Seems like we're in for some serious bargaining," Pei Chenglin said, reaching out to gently stroke her long hair, twirling a strand playfully. "I'm in no rush, right?"
Nian Wanwan stood still, her teeth clenched tightly.
"Just say it, what do you want?" she asked, taking a deep breath. "I'm warning you, don't try anything with me."
Pei Chenglin chuckled, then twisted her hair between his fingers, pulling her closer for a sudden kiss.
Jerk, creep!
Nian Wanwan refused to endure it any longer and bit down, only to feel a chill across her chest as Pei Chenglin pushed her away.
"Not behaving, are we?" Pei Chenglin wiped a trace of blood from his lip, toying with something in his hand. "Get out of the car."
What?
Nian Wanwan was stunned, following his gaze to her chest, horrified to find her bra had been unhooked and taken.
"You jerk!" she shouted, covering her chest in embarrassment and anger, trembling with rage. "Give it back!"
"I said get out," Pei Chenglin said coldly, opening the car door with a click and pressing a button.
Nian Wanwan felt the seat tilt, and suddenly she was tossed out. Dizzy and disoriented, she landed on the ground, clutching her chest as she scrambled to her feet. But Pei Chenglin gave her no chance, shutting the door and driving off without a second glance.
"Pei Chenglin, you jerk! You creep!" Wanwan shouted, yanking off her high heels and hurling them with all her might. They hit the back of the Aston Martin with a loud thud.
The car sped away, leaving Wanwan in a cloud of exhaust. Furious, she stomped her foot, but there was nothing she could do. After standing there for a while, she limped over to retrieve her shoes.
After more than an hour of fussing, Wanwan managed to fashion a makeshift top out of a scarf from her purse in the restroom. By the time she found the room where Qin Yanting was supposed to be, she was told he had already left.
She cursed under her breath and headed for the exit, only to spot a familiar figure being helped outside.
"Qin Yanting?" Wanwan called out, rushing to catch up, but she froze when she saw who was with him.
Nian Qingqing?
Wanwan let out a bitter laugh. What a small world. But why hadn’t Qin Yanting turned her down?
She hesitated, unsure whether to approach. In those few moments of indecision, Qingqing had already helped Qin Yanting into a car and driven away.
So, in the end, she really didn't fulfill her duty, did she?
Nian Wanwan sat down in the lobby chair, feeling a bit down. Should she try to stop it? But what if Qin Yanting had feelings for Nian Qingqing too?
She had already delayed him for five years. Even though she knew Nian Qingqing had ulterior motives, if he liked her, Wanwan had no right to interfere.
Her phone buzzed, and Wanwan glanced at it, too lazy to respond. The ringing stopped after a while, but the screen lit up again, persistent. Wanwan wanted a cigarette, but when she looked up, she saw the receptionist staring intently at her.
She raised an eyebrow, got up, and went outside to light one. Her phone buzzed again, and she finally opened it to see a message pop up.
"Maple Leaf Hotel 2811"
"Want to check Twitter?"
Wanwan cursed under her breath, angrily tossed the cigarette, crushed it underfoot, and prepared to hail a cab.
A convenience store sign lit up nearby. Wanwan looked at her phone, then at the store, and with a slight smile, pressed her lips together.
Pei Chenglin, you really know how to play your cards, don't you?
