Nian Wanwan scoffed, "Since when did you start getting all handsy?"
"I don't want to touch you either," Nian Qingqing replied with disdain. "I just thought you might want to know where Qin Yanting is. If you're interested, it's actually quite simple... just divorce Yanting, and naturally... I'll tell you."
Nian Qingqing spoke earnestly. It turned out that not everyone was aware she and Qin Yanting had already agreed to divorce, and even Nian Qingqing didn't know.
After a moment of silence, Nian Wanwan said, "I'll find Yanting myself, no need for your help."
With that, Nian Wanwan swiftly left the floor, practically fleeing into the elevator. She had no intention of informing Nian Qingqing that she and Qin Yanting had already divorced.
"I'm sorry," Nian Wanwan silently apologized to herself. She could be spiteful too, especially since Nian Qingqing was always so arrogant around her. There was no reason to share her current situation with her.
As Nian Wanwan walked out of the Qin's building, suddenly, flashbulbs went off all around her. Reporters swarmed, startling the security guard at the door, who stepped back, inadvertently allowing the reporters to rush in.
"Miss Nian Wanwan, can you tell us about your current situation with Director Qin? Did he argue with you after finding out about your affair? Why are your eyes so red?" a reporter quickly asked.
Another reporter, jostled by the crowd, struggled to keep their footing but still managed to push through and ask, "Miss Wanwan, is it true that your affair is the real reason behind the Nian Family's bankruptcy?"
"Miss Wanwan, now that the Nian Family has gone bankrupt, what will happen to your position at Qin's Company? Do you hold any shares in Qin's?"
This reporter seemed to specialize in finance, asking questions that were at least somewhat relevant.
As for the other reporters, they jumped to conclusions and asked Wanwan yes-or-no questions... Wanwan almost laughed, thinking these reporters must moonlight as novelists with such vivid imaginations.
"Miss Wanwan, please answer us! Many online users now have a negative impression of Qin's Company. Will you resign to take responsibility?" a reporter quickly asked.
Finally, Wanwan gestured for them to quiet down.
Flashbulbs popped incessantly, and a security guard tried to push through to protect Wanwan but couldn't get close.
Perhaps the reporters knew it was crucial to block the guard!
Wanwan took a deep breath and cleared her throat before speaking, "These reports are not true, and I have not had an affair."
"Then why did Old Madam Qin kick you out, and why were you seen kissing Pei Chenglin?" a reporter shouted.
Another reporter glanced at the one who spoke, thinking, "Wow, they really don't hold back, do they?"
Wanwan felt awkward and quickly explained, "That was just a misunderstanding."
"But it seemed like you both agreed to it!" the reporter retorted, as if Wanwan couldn't leave without admitting to the affair.
Right now, Wanwan's biggest frustration was with Pei Chenglin. If it weren't for him, she wouldn't be in this situation.
"Actually... Director Qin and I have already agreed to a divorce, not too long ago," Wanwan decided to make this public.
Since everyone already knew she was kicked out by the Qin family, there was no harm in saying it.
What she didn't know was that Qingqing was following her down. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she overheard the explosive news. First, she was shocked, then secretly pleased, and finally, she couldn't hide her smile. It was fantastic news.
"Hmph," Qingqing muttered under her breath, "Wanwan, since you're divorcing Yanting, I'll help you this once."
With that, Qingqing signaled to the two receptionists at the front desk to step in and block the reporters while she followed behind, quietly approaching the group.
Wanwan noticed the two receptionists coming over, seemingly to help her out. She quickly forced a smile and repeated, "Yes, it's true. I've divorced Yanting. However, I'm still the department director at Qin's, and this doesn't conflict with anything. It won't change any plans. Qin's will only get better."
"But won't your affair impact the stock of the Qin Company? After all, you've been unfaithful! People don't trust the Qin Company like they used to!" The reporter was relentless, refusing to back down.
It seemed they wouldn't rest until Nian Wanwan's reputation was completely tarnished.
"Are you working for one of my enemies?" Nian Wanwan's expression suddenly changed as she stared intently at the persistent reporter. She was half-joking, but noticed a flicker of panic in the reporter's eyes. She continued, "Everyone else is asking reasonable questions, but why are you pushing me so hard? I don't recall offending any big shots."
Except for Pei Chenglin, she thought.
Aside from Pei Chenglin's lingering presence, she couldn't think of any real enemies.
The reporter paused for a moment before speaking again, "Your company is a major enterprise. If something happens, you owe us an explanation. I'm a reporter; it's my responsibility to ask these questions. Why shouldn't I get to the bottom of this?"
"Make way, make way!"
Suddenly, a voice shouted from the crowd. Though the person was unseen, their voice was clear. "Director Qin is coming downstairs. You should ask Director Qin your questions!"
"Director Qin! Where is Director Qin?"
The reporters were energized. After all, Qin Yanting hadn't been seen in public for days. An interview with him would be major news.
"Director Qin is getting off the elevator!" Nian Qingqing shouted.
The reporters swarmed toward the elevator, and Nian Qingqing, hiding behind two receptionists, reached out. Seeing the reporters rush toward the elevator, she grabbed Nian Wanwan and hurried to the door.
Both of them stood there, catching their breath. Nian Wanwan looked at Nian Qingqing.
"Don't thank me," Nian Qingqing quickly said. "I only helped because I heard you were divorcing Yan Tine."
"Really? I wasn't planning to thank you. I could have gotten out of there without your help," Nian Wanwan replied, then walked away.
She knew Nian Qingqing too well. Although they hadn't exactly grown up together, Nian Qingqing had been a constant presence in her life. She knew Nian Qingqing wouldn't do something nice without a reason.
With no clear destination in mind, Nian Wanwan hailed a cab to her place. At this moment, all she could do was go home and think about how to make this news disappear.
On the way back, she kept contacting the PR department at Qin's Company and finally got a definite answer.
"PR cost: ten million."
"Heh," Nian Wanwan chuckled at the figure sent over, breaking the silence in the cab.
