C4 The Man She Trained
Nian Wanwan splashed cold water on her face to calm down. She couldn't believe that after all these years, she still ended up losing her composure in front of Pei Chenglin.
After quietly touching up her makeup, she opened the door and saw a graceful figure standing there.
Wanwan's beautiful brows furrowed slightly. She tried to walk past without making eye contact, but Qingqing wouldn't let her.
"Sister, leaving in such a hurry?" Nian Qingqing appeared before Wanwan like a different person, shedding her earlier cautious demeanor for one of indifference and disdain.
"Why stay for dinner?" Wanwan replied with a lazy smile, relaxed and unbothered.
Qingqing's face darkened, her tone changing. "There's no one else here, so you don't need to put on an act."
"Oh, really..." Wanwan pretended to glance around, her eyes narrowing with amusement. "So, because Qin Yanting isn't here, you think you can do whatever you want?"
"You..." Qingqing's face turned livid, and she gritted her teeth. "Why haven't you left after the divorce? Why keep clinging to him?"
"Sorry, it's not that I don't want to leave," Wanwan said with an air of elegance. "Your plans with Qin's mother might fall through. Qin's father disagrees, and there's nothing I can do about it. If you're in a hurry, go ahead."
Wanwan didn't care at all. She didn't think much of Qingqing and her mother's little schemes, nor did she value what they coveted. The things from the past meant nothing to her, and neither did the man in question now.
"Stop acting like you don't care. If you truly didn't care about Yan Tine, you'd know when to back off!" Qingqing snapped, her words sharp with anger. "You're trying to have your cake and eat it too. Aren't you worried you'll bite off more than you can chew?"
Wanwan almost burst out laughing. She casually tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, completely unfazed. "Oh, are you jealous because you couldn't snag the guy I trained?"
Qingqing was beside herself with rage. She grabbed Wanwan's wrist as she tried to leave, refusing to let go. "Wanwan, you have no shame. Would you dare tell Yan Tine everything that happened back then? Have you forgotten how you toyed with Chenglin?"
*Slap!*
Wanwan didn't hold back, delivering a sharp slap across Qingqing's face, her eyes flashing with intensity. "Do you know how to speak to me?"
Qingqing, stunned, held her cheek and glanced at Wanwan before quickly turning to leave.
Wanwan paused, instinctively turning around, only to meet a pair of deep, mischievous eyes, exuding a rebellious yet dignified air.
"What a coincidence," Wanwan said, trying to steady her racing heart, her eyes curving into a charming smile. "Were you looking for Qingqing, or just passing by?"
"I was looking for you," Chenglin replied, his gaze deepening, a smile playing at the corners of his lips. "Didn't expect to catch you two having a heart-to-heart."
Whispers?
Wanwan couldn't help but laugh; he had heard everything. She had her back turned earlier and didn't know what expression Pei Chenglin was wearing. Now, she saw a slight curve at the corner of his mouth. From what she knew about him, it meant he was either in a good mood or on the brink of anger.
"You're not being very good," Wanwan said in a light-hearted tone, trying to leave, but he blocked her path.
"In a hurry?" His voice dropped low as he stepped closer. "Avoiding me?"
"Maybe a little of both," Wanwan turned her face away, not wanting to look at him.
Chenglin smirked, his large hand cutting off her last escape route as he lifted her chin. "Afraid of me?"
"Afraid of what?" Wanwan held back her unease, looking up with eyes that sparkled like stars, reflecting his strikingly handsome face. "Afraid you'll devour me? Or that my husband will catch us?"
Chenglin's face darkened, and his grip on her cheek tightened. He lifted her face and pressed his lips to hers.
Wanwan's whole body tensed, instinctively wanting to resist, but he grabbed her wrist and pinned it to the wall. His other hand forced her to arch closer to him, his lips and tongue invading like a storm, claiming her with an overwhelming force.
Her heart pounded as if it would leap out of her chest. Her trembling eyelashes slowly closed, and her slender arms wrapped around his neck. Since there was no escaping it, she decided to embrace it.
After what felt like an eternity, Pei Chenglin finally let her go. The prolonged lack of oxygen left Nian Wanwan's mind blank, and she greedily inhaled the fresh air. She caught the hint of mockery at the corner of his lips, and a flash of unexpected pain crossed her eyes.
"Did you like it?" Pei Chenglin rested his chin in the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent with a dazed expression. The alluring fragrance was as addictive as poppies, making it impossible for him to resist.
Seeing her remain silent, Pei Chenglin's long fingers slowly slid down her neck, tracing her spine. Nian Wanwan shivered noticeably.
"Seems like you enjoyed it," Pei Chenglin remarked with satisfaction, releasing his hold on her with a light chuckle.
Leaning against the wall, Nian Wanwan felt the weakness in her legs gradually dissipate. She straightened up, her voice slightly hoarse, "I didn't expect that after all these years, Mr. Pei's kissing skills would have improved."
Pei Chenglin's eyes darkened, his voice turning cold, "You're being naughty." He gripped her small chin with a firm hand, his voice low and threatening, "Are you trying to make headlines?"
