C19 She Knows

With Porter’s high scent of smell, they easily found my body floating in the small creek in the middle of the woods.

They immediately fetched my naked body out of the water.

“Is he breathing? Is Clark still alive?” Kevin stammered while his hands and knees were trembling.

“Luckily, he is.”

Kevin and Porter lifted my body back to the house. To their surprise, my mom was already there. She received a phone call from the Sheriff’s department about the fire in front of the woods in front of her house and she immediately went over.

“What happened to Clark?”

Kevin and Porter were taken aback. They exchanged glances half-worried and half-shocked.

“Umm, we’ll explain to you later, Mrs. Mcwell. For now, we need to put some clothes on and lay Clark’s body into his room.”

“Okay, okay. And please don’t you dare lie to me because I know he’s been acting weird these past few days. He is the reason for the fire. You know what I mean.” She’s pointing a finger at Kevin and Porter.

Kevin and Porter don’t know what my mom was talking about. All they could think of is if she knew about me being a wolf. They simply nodded their heads.

As my body was laid on my bed, the Police patrol cars and the Fire trucks arrived.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

“Mrs. Mcwell, are you in there?”

The three looked at each other with deep thoughts on their individual minds.

Mom signaled them to stay quiet. She descended downstairs to open the door.

“Yes, Mr. Stewart? Thank goodness, you came. Come on in, please.”

“Thank you, Judie. Anyway, I am just here to see if my son’s okay. He told me earlier that he’ll be here with a school project with Clark.

Porter and Kevin heard his father and my mom’s conversation.

“I’m here dad! I’m totally fine. Totally.” Kevin went out of the room and greeted his father.

Sheriff Stewart felt relieved.

“Okay, just stay right there and my team will ease off the fire. Judie, can we talk outside?”

Mom nodded her head.

“Do you have any idea who might do this?” Mr. Stewart crossed his arms into his chest as they were watching the Firemen helping to ease up the fire.

“Honestly, I don’t have any idea about this, Sheriff. It’s kind of a repeated memory of me and Nathan way back 1990’s when our crops were on fire from the space ship that unexpectedly descended from that same area.”

“Yeah, I remember. My father who is the Sheriff at that time told me. The space ship was still in NASA Office. The ship was still a mystery to them as to where does it came from. Anyway, I have to go. Sheriff’s duty. I need to help my men about the incident.”

Mom grinned and waves at Sheriff Steward. She then ascended upstairs.

Moreover, as they were still waiting for me to wake up, I dream again about the girl I run over in the street.

“Please help me, Emir. You are the only one who could help me. And I am the one who could help you control the fox inside your body.” The chains that tied her chinks as she gently raised and touched my face.

I touched back her cold hands. “Why are you locked up? I don’t get it.”

“The fox inside you was my other half. I intentionally locked up myself in this crypt of stone to avoid being found by the Beast Lord.”

“Beast Lord. Why? Why does everyone keep on saying his name? Who is he anyway?”

I tried to remove the chains out of her hands and feet but it’s kind of this thing that was glued into her body.

“Don’t waste your time, Emir. You can do nothing about these chains. But there is one person who could detach this out of me. He is a sorcerer whom I passed on all of my magic.

“A sorcerer? Does that even exist?” I creased up my face in disbelief.

“Everything is possible, Emir. They were just doing things in hushed. Your wolf families lived in peace, so did our fox world. But because of the Beast Lord’s fret, he destroyed everything and some of us went to your world.”

“How?”

“Find the person, Emir. He is in your world living in the underground. Days will come you will know you’re all living with different creatures the world has aside for the humans.”

I was completely shocked. The Earth was indeed trillions of people living above it but I haven’t heard any of them until now.

“You’re running out of time, Emir. Find this person as soon as possible.”

The mystery girl slowly vanished.

“Please tell me your name!” I curiously asked.

“Aria.” She breathed out her name.

Afterward, she’s gone. I slowly open my eyes and found out my mom, Kevin, and Porter’s wrinkled faces staring at me.

They were all in a daze after our eyes’ locked.

“Oh, thank goodness, you’re already awake son. We were so scared about you.” Mom caressed and held my hand close to her face.

“Dude, we heard everything you said,” Kevin said.

I slowly rise up my body and my eyes furrowed in confusion.

“What do you mean, “You heard everything I said”?”

“We heard you talking about Aria and the sorcerer. Aria was the goddess of the Fox realm. Her disappearance was a mystery to all our different realms.” Porter confronted.

I widened my eyes sharply at Porter and Kevin.

“Don’t worry son. I already knew everything. Kevin and Porter told me. Your father and I knew about it from the start since you descended from a spaceship, that you are a special kid but we just don’t have any idea exactly what you are.” Mom replied in a calm manner.

“So, you’re not afraid of me?” I asked.

“No, I am not. Look what you have become after we raised you? You are the kindest and the bravest person in the world.” Her tears trickled down to her cheek and immediately hug me.

“Okay, enough of this human drama thing. As of now, we need to check the outside which was completely in ashes.”

My eyes widened.

“Ashes, because of me?”

“Ah-huh!” Kevin breathed out.

I immediately marched down and looked outside. The portion of the woods was completely devastated and now nothing but black ashes.

“Shit,” I mumbled.

I wagged and saw Sheriff Stewart talking to a guy who felt terrified and trembling.

Porter, Kevin, my mom, and I quickly headed in his direction.

“Dad, what is it?” Kevin curiously asked.

Sheriff Stewart signaled one of the medical team to assist the man. He grabbed our backs back to the house.

He breathed out heavily.

“The man purported he saw a red terrifying blazing beast in the woods. It was hard to believe it, right? But we found a tent and a gallon of diesel during our search rescue operation and he confirmed those were his”.

“So, what will happen to the man, Mr. Stewart?” I furrowed.

“The medical team will dig into his medical history while my team will be looking out also if this man has any misconduct history. If proven, he would be facing several legal cases. The worst, he will be getting in jail.” Sheriff elucidated.

I felt completely guilty at this minute. Not being able to control the fox inside me could cause the innocent man into losing his freedom. But what should I do? I am not going to allow it to happen for the innocent.

“It was me, Sheriff. It was me who caused our land fields on fire.”

My mom, Kevin, and Porter crumpled their faces. They were completely in a daze and mouth zipped.

“I was playing with my cigarette lighter heading back here, unfortunately, while walking in the dark; I stepped out a hard stone and stumbled to the ground. I throw the lighter that causes the fire.

Porter and Kevin found my unconscious body in the blazing woods and they immediately rushed me to the house, right guys?” I looked at them sharply to buy out my drama.

Kevin and Porter exchanged half-shocked faces.

“That’s right dad. In fact, if you eagerly observe outside the house, there are some burned grasses and leaves.” Kevin assumingly replied.

The sheriff quickly went outside the house and found out Kevin was telling the truth. There is indeed burned leaves and grasses out of the woods heading to the house.

“Yeah, he’s right.” Sheriff Stewart sighed deeply. “I’m gonna tell my men to release the person in custody. And you, Clark, expect that you will get some lectures from your mom, right Judie?”

“Don’t worry, Sheriff, Clark was grounded for a week. No Ina, no Kevin, and no any of their friends.” Mom gave us a wide smile and was also buying out the drama.

I just hope she will not apply to me the things she just said.

“Okay, about you, young man. We also need to go home. It’s getting late. No Clark, no of his cousin, no Miya, and no other friends of yours.” Sheriff Stewart shrugged Kevin.

“But, dad! Clark was my best friend. You know that he is my only friend in school, right?”

“Bye, everyone! Good night.” Sheriff Stewart and Kevin waved their hands and headed to their car.
