C9 Pre-Invitation

“Are you fucking kidding me? What if something happens to him that night?”

Sheriff Stewart hardly pinched our ears and dragged us back to the car.

“Ouch, ouch, dad! Can we at least hear a simple sincere thank you from the Sheriff for solving and finding the body?”

Sheriff Stewart released his grip from our ears.

“Okay, the two of you, thank you. Please go home, do your homework, and have a good sleep, okay?”

Afterward, Kevin and I started the car and drove away.

“Bro this thing happened was completely incredible! We were like secret agents solving mysterious crimes.” He enthusiastically said.

I, on the other hand, suddenly felt uncomfortable as if my body was pulled into something. My body produced sweats profusely and felt lightheaded.

“Hey, are you okay?” He worriedly asked.

“What do you think? I am completely squeezing and wheezing like my whole body was dragged and attracted into something.”

I immediately unzipped the bag and was dumbfounded after I saw the wolfsbane was on it.

“You brought that thing with us?”

“You mean the wolfsbane?”

“Yes, the wolfsbane.”

My body started to transform into a werewolf as I heard some cracking of bones. I slowly growl and moan.

Kevin immediately stopped the car and threw the bag away from me.

“What were you thinking? You almost got me killed!” I furiously said.

“I’m sorry, okay? My bad. I was just not thinking straight. What if they also found it there and include the flower in their further investigations, huh? And they will probably find out that it was some sort of connection to werewolves…?”

I didn’t listen to Kevin’s lecture as he was probably right. I am not planning the world to know that I am one of those monsters who killed people.

Instead, I altered the topic about the last night I left Ina at the party.

I sighed dejectedly.

“Ina is gonna hate me now.”

“Ugh. I doubt that. But, you might need to come up with a better strategy to say you’re sorry. Or, you know, you could have just confronted her about the truth about your wolf thing that suddenly triggered during that night, that’s why you left her.”

I immediately stared at him in contempt.

“Okay, I’m just kidding, all right?”

He then seriously looked me in the eye and tapped my shoulder.

“Hey, we’ll get through this, okay? If I have to, I’ll chain you up myself every full moon night and feed you live cats, mice, chickens, or rats, what else, umm…?”

“You mean, raw?”

“Why is there a werewolf who ate fried chicken nowadays?” He humorously replied.

When we reached home, I immediately laid my exhausted body in my soft comfortable bed and slept.

Early in the morning, I patiently waited for Ina outside the entrance gate. Before that, I already came out with a better reason for leaving her out in the middle of a party.

When I saw her hopping out from the car, I immediately greeted and grinned at her.

“So, what happened? You left me stranded at the party. If you were busy on that day, as it was also your birthday, you should tell me about it so I would not expect much from you.”

“Yes, I know, and I’m sorry, Ina. I am. But you’re gonna have to trust me that I had a better reason.”

She then stopped and frowned before she replied.

“Did you get sick?”

“Umm, sort of and I don’t want you getting exposed to it. I had an attack of something.”

“Am I gonna get an explanation?’

“Can you just dig deep in your heart to trust me on this one? I promise you; I swear to my grave, I will not do it again.”

She simply grinned and stared at me in the eye.

“Am I gonna regret this promise?”

“Umm, probably.”

She then twirls and keeps her hair using her fingers.

“So, I assume it was a yes on a second chance?” I hopefully asked.

She was babbling, bit her lips, and raised his other toe.

“Umm, definitely a yes.”

Right at this time, there was a car horn honking from a distance. It’s the car where Ina hopped out.

“That’s my dad, Eliot. And he’s bringing the book. Oh, my God, I forgot to get my book.”

To my surprise, Draku suddenly hopped out of the car and went towards us with a bigger smile on his face.

“What a coincidence? So, you two knew each other, huh? Hello, Clark, how was Mr. and Mrs. Mcwell?” Draku viciously said.

Ina raised her brow and frowned in surprise.

“Umm, you also knew each other?” She curiously asked.

“Yes, I knew everything about your friend, baby. It’s a long story to tell. Why not invite Clark over dinner with us? How about tonight, after their first game so we have something to celebrate?”

Draku insisted.

Ina was waiting for me to answer the tempting but uncomfortable invitation.

“Yeah, sure! I think I can manage tonight.”

“Okay, that settles then! If you plan to court my beautiful princess, Clark, better come with me first and I would suggest doing that in our house so we could get to know each other better, right Clark?”

I simply nodded my head after Draku kissed Ina’s forehead and waved his goodbye to us. Ina and I went separate ways as we still have our classes.

In the room.

I felt extremely exhausted as I was sitting in my seat.

"So, how's Ina? Have you apologized to her?" Kevin asked.

"Uh-huh."

"Did she forgive you?"

"Uh-huh."

"Yeah, that's good to hear, congrats, bro!"

"No."

I sighed dejectedly while Kevin frowned in confusion.

"What do you mean no?"

"Remember Draku, the Alpha, who attacked me in the woods? He is Ina's father."

Kevin's eyes immediately widened and jaws dropped to the ground.

"Draku the werewolf Alpha, is Ina's father?"

"Yes," I shouted in frustration.

All of our classmates who were already present in the room suddenly turned their heads to me.

"I'm sorry, guys. My friend was just fine. Come on, go on with what you are doing!" Kevin told our classmates.

"What am I gonna do, bro?"

"Well, isn't it good news that she is a daughter of a werewolf? That only means one thing, Ina's possibly a werewolf too."

I felt suddenly revived after hearing Kevin's proposition. Is Ina possibly a werewolf? Is that the reason why Rico didn't harm her at the party? Did Ina know about me being a werewolf?

Several questions linger in my little conscious mind.

"Let's just hope it goes that way." I simply replied."

After the classes ended. Kevin and I immediately went to our locker room and gears up for our first game.

I felt completely nervous as several people from the other school went to witness the game.

"Okay, just don't think about it too much in the field, okay? Control your aggression, your anger, and hatred." Kevin worriedly advised.

I looked at the bench and found my mom waving her hands towards me. Allison and Draku also arrived and looked for an available seat.

"Please let this be okay. Please let things end well." I mumbled.

Kevin also felt nervous as he kept on biting his gloves. His father, Sheriff Stewart also arrived.

"Hey, kid!"

"Hey, dad!"

"So, you think you'll see any action tonight?"

"Action? Maybe?" He replied as his frustration outbursts.

"Down…! Set…!"

(WHISTLE BLOWS)

There was a loud whooping and cheering afterward. The ball was now on the run as one of our teammates caught it.

I always wave my hands to my allies to pass the ball but they didn't even listen to me as if I am nobody in the game.

One of the opponents who father the ball suddenly dropped it to the ground. Roger and I exchanged glances as we both saw it.

We both ran as fast as possible to get the ball. Unexpectedly, Roger intentionally dashed towards me and I easily stumbled to the ground.

Roger got the ball and immediately ran to the goal and he made our first score.

There were loud cheering and whooping all over the field. I immediately stood up to avoid further embarrassment and tried to calm myself as much as possible.

"That's it, Roger! Fire it up!"

Coach Brown yelled as he kept on cheering for the team.

Miya also shouted and invited Ina to hold the other side of the banner she was holding. Kevin and I saw the two supporting Roger.

"Brutal," Kevin mumbled as he immediately frowned from worrying.

"Oh, this is not going to be good." He added after seeing my furious mood.

Moreover, Roger encouraged and instructed our teammates not to pass the ball to me but him alone. I could completely hear him talking to our teammates.

"What if he is open?" Benny, one of our teammates asked.

"Who's the Captain? You or me?"

"Roger, come on, dude! I just want to win."

"We will win if you guys surely pass the ball to me alone. Is that understood?"

"But…?"

"What did I say? What did I say?"

"Don't pass to Mcwell."

I felt furious at the moment as they all gathered up planning their strategy. It appears that because of my anger, the beast inside me wanted to take over.

I only bowed my head as I was growling softly and my eyes' color also changed.

"Are you okay, kid?" The referee asked.

I simply nodded my head after he passed through me. Kevin, who's worriedly sitting on the bench already noticed something was off about me and felt restless and uneasy.

The score at the moment was 3-5 in favor of the opponent's team and the time was almost running out.

Moving on, the players behind me, especially our opponents, were taken aback and suddenly felt terrified as they could also hear me growling.
