C6 Green Flower Porcelain Bowl

Sung Guodong's culinary skills were quite impressive.

To Sung Zhu, he was far superior! She couldn't even manage to light a fire with grass.

"Grandpa, that smells amazing."

Sung Zhu inhaled deeply, her eyes fixed on the milky-white soup forming in the pot.

She had already had brown sugar white rice porridge earlier, but that was just porridge, and after being out and about, she had digested it all.

"Little glutton, it'll be ready in no time. Oh, and I'll take a bowl over to your cousin grandpa shortly."

Sung Guodong added the cleaned wild greens to the fish soup and playfully tapped Sung Zhu's nose.

It was a shame there wasn't much else to add, only wild greens. The best fish soup, rich with fish and broth, didn't need anything else to be delicious.

"Of course." Sung Zhu certainly wouldn't forget the two of them.

Without them taking her to the river, she wouldn't have been able to catch any fish. More importantly, she hadn't realized she had such a great skill!

Once she had rested and figured out the pattern, she was sure she could use this ability to make a good life for herself.

When the fish soup was ready, Sung Guodong filled two large bowls with it.

"Sung Zhu, you stay here. Grandpa will take the soup to your cousin grandpa and be right back," Sung Guodong said, picking up one of the bowls and instructing Sung Zhu to stay home.

"Okay, Grandpa."

Sung Zhu nodded, then set about cleaning the stove.

As Sung Guodong prepared the fish soup, he also pressed a corn cake onto the stove. Despite being mixed with other grains, it looked quite appetizing!

"Wow, this bowl is gorgeous. Why does it look so much like an antique? It's blue and white."

Sung Zhu paused her cleaning, her attention captured by the large bowl filled with fish soup.

The bowl was stunning, with a white base and blue patterns, increasingly resembling blue and white porcelain!

Though Sung Zhu's university studies weren't in archaeology, she had a keen interest in cultural relics and had done some research. The more she examined the bowl, the more astonished she became—it was an authentic Ming Dynasty blue and white porcelain bowl!

"Zhu, Grandpa's back. Are you hungry? Why didn't you eat something first? What's caught your attention there?"

Sung Guodong returned with an empty bowl and saw Sung Zhu squatting and intently gazing at the fish soup bowl. He assumed she was famished.

"Grandpa, this bowl? I mean, where did our family get this bowl from?"

Sung Zhu was thrilled to confirm that the bowl was indeed a national treasure!

Sung Guodong, chuckling, set another bowl aside and carried the antique Sung Zhu had identified into the next room. "This bowl was a gift from someone long ago. I thought it was quite beautiful and just right for serving soup."

Sung Zhu felt a pang of distress. Grandpa, you're using a priceless antique for soup. I'm almost too scared to drink from it!

Then she noticed the empty bowl Sung Guodong had brought back – another national treasure, a blue and white porcelain piece, which made her eyes pop!

"Zhu, come and have some dinner." Sung Guodong, oblivious to what Sung Zhu was pondering and seeing her fixated on the bowl, quickly brought in some pancakes.

"Grandpa, who gave you this bowl? Do they have any more?"

At this point, Sung Zhu couldn't think about eating.

Her mind was swirling with just a few words: antique, national treasure, we're going to be rich...

"Uh, these kinds of bowls and dishes, there are quite a few in the village. I recall this one was a gift from Da Niu or someone when I returned home."

Sung Guodong couldn't quite remember who had given it to him.

Sung Zhu, growing anxious, pressed him on how they came to possess such a bowl. Sung Guodong had some recollection, explaining that it was likely during the Republic of China era when someone in the village discovered an ancient royal tomb. Many villagers, including her father, had scavenged numerous plates and bowls from the site.

The bowl used for serving soup was a gift, while the other bowl, filled for cousin grandpa, was one her father had found as a young boy on a similar scavenging trip.
