C4 Dinner

As per tradition, the rivers sat at their large dining room ready to have dinner with Alpah Ethan at the end and Luna Claire at the other end.

Ezra and Asher shared a look, their parents were arguing again, and it was obvious their mom who is usually glued to their father’s side and would always sit on his right very close to him when they were having dinner, but today she sat at the very edge of the table far from them, she only did that when she wasn't her her way.

“Well, boys I heard Traine Jones is back in Town, tell me how did your training go today? Did she whip some sense into you two?” He asked cutting his meat with his cutlery

“The same way your council whipped some sense into you today?” Luna Claire asked putting her wine glasses on her lips.

“Hmmm, well, as long as it stops them from making bad decisions like today, I guess so.” He retorted and she scoffed at him rolling her eyes.

“Oh please.”

Ezra shared a look with Asher who was struggling with his cutlery, they rarely fought, and whenever they did it had to be over them.

“Mom Dad, Asher, and I would like to say something to you two.” Ezra started dropping his cutlery and wiping his mouth.

“Well, son what is it?”

“Asher and I would like to apologize for today, we understand that our behavior this afternoon was rather irrational and very stupid of us and we promise it will never happen again.”

Ezra looked at his brother who was still struggling to cut his meat not the least bit repentant, he kicked Asher under the table causing him to drop his cutlery in frustration.

“What?!” He snapped at him and Ezra gave him the side eye. Asher rolled his eyes and ignored him.

“Well son, seems only one of you is sorry.” Alpha Ethan said as he continued eating.

“Why should they be sorry, you have their punishment rolled out already anyway.” Luna Claire swirled the wine in her glass cup staring at her husband who dropped his cutlery in anger.

“Okay Claire, I am tired of this, let’s just end this menace and for all, you want the seers to come and do it again, then by all means fine they would be here first thing in the morning but if it only proves what they said today right then believe me when I say these two Boys won’t spend a second longer in my house!” He shifted his chair back and got up from the table angrily.

Leaving the boys confused, Ezra and Asher turned to their mom who looked equally confused.

“What?” She snapped at them too.

“Well, care to explain what dad meant by not a minute longer and why are the seers coming to our house?” Ezra asked but she ignored him pushing her chair back and getting up from the table as well as going after the alpha.

“Well, finally I thought they were never going to leave,” Asher dropped his cutlery and picked up the meat with his fingers. “You know, the meat tastes very delicious tonight.” He closed his eyes savoring the taste as he took bite after bite, he picked up his father's plate after clearing his own.

“Hello brother, are you deaf now? Didn’t you hear what dad and mom just talked about?”

“What? That we are going to switch schools and go to the ones where only the humans go to?” Asher said like it was nothing and Ezra’s eyes popped out his eye sockets.

“What?”

“Well it has already been decided brother, you and I are transferring to Greendale High, the council already decided, apparently the seers said our mates are to be humans so we are going in search of them.”

“Are you kidding me? I have a girlfriend!”

“Well brother, don’t let your girlfriend stop you from finding your wife, anyways, are you going to eat those, I am ravenous?”

Ezra pushed his plate to him, his world as we knew it was spiraling, if he moved, he would lose all his friends and those humans already had a reputation for them, this was so unfair,

He watched Asher gulp down the food like it was nothing like their worlds weren't about to come to a halt.

He got up from the table angrily and walked toward the door.

“Are you going to break up with her? Don’t stay out too late brother, dad might get mad again.”

Ezra ignored his brother, he was going to pick up his coat but on the second choice he dropped it, he didn't need it anyway he was going to run as a wolf that night.

Taking off his shift and his trousers, he hung them by a tree not far from their house, Ezra started to run at first before he slowly started to turn into a werewolf.

Upon full transformation he let out a blood-curdling howl, he was not scared of being heard by the humans, the night belonged to the wolves in Greendale no one else.

Digging his nails into the earth, he leaped forward, running and just running, he didn’t know where he was going but he felt rage within him, how could they just decide his life without consulting him now he had to put up with snobbish humans who see him as just a pretty boy, he has a bias against them.

His mind was fuzzy and the next thing he heard was a loud horn and a car sliding off the high road, Ezra raised his nuzzle and leaped out of the road just in time as the car ran past him.

“Pesky humans!” He thought to himself before running into the woods.

“What in heaven's name was that!” Astrid asked from the back of the car.
