C2 Chapter two

Inside the subway, she stood quietly at a corner as she tried not to catch people's attention. As a working model, her agency provided her with everything including transportation. And now she thought of it she would also have to leave the condo which was provided by her agency at the heights estate which was one of the most expensive estates in California. Unfortunately, an anti fan noticed her her dressing was too catchy and anyone who knew her would recognize her style.

"She's the model in that awful scandal".

"She's not even ashamed to show her face in public."

Lara overheard two women gossiping and that made scared. What if the passengers mug her. One time, she was almost stampede by a crowd of fans who violently wanted her autograph. The thought of it brought back the fear of the incident. She could feel her air go tight, then her sight began to blur. The images of people jabbing at her trying to tear her apart flashed through her head.

"Are you okay?". A guy asked holding from falling.

Just then she heard a camera click and everyone on the train started to flash their phone cameras at her. Luckily, the train reach a station and she rushed out of the train. Yet some passengers rushed after her then it dawned to her that the passengers weren't just passengers but reporters.

"Is it true, Lara. You had a man under your success."

"Did you work your way into the industry?".

"Is it true you seduced your way into getting awards?".

"Stop, please I beg you please". Lara said squatted at the center of the reporters who kept attacking her with questions.

When she noticed they won't stop and no one was coming to her recuse she collapsed yet the didn't stop taking pictures of her.

"What is wrong with you people?. Get away from her!." Someone yelled clearing a way as he dived into the crowd and carried Lara away from the subway.

Sky was a childhood friend who cared about Lara. He couldn't bear to see her hurt or cry. When he saw the news about her scandal he rushed down to California leaving his business at England. He was hurt that she had suffered and he wasn't early enough to protect her.

"S-stop". Lara stuttered as she tried to open her eyes.

"Lara." Sky called out with concern evident in his voice.

"Sky". Lara sadly said as her eyes flung open.

"I'm sorry. I was fast enough to protect you. I'm sorry that I left you here to pursue my selfish ambition. I...".

"Enough sky. You have a life at England. Stop trying to prey into my life. Drop me off, I will walk back to my apartment." Lara harshly said with embarrassment mask on her face. She was always grateful to sky but she was just a burden to his life. He had a fiancee who cared about him yet he came down here to protect her. What would that make her?, People would call her a shameless slot if they saw her with sky. Plus she doubt his fiancee would be happy to find out he was with another woman.

"I can't do that Lara. You know I care about you...".

"That's the problem with you. Can't you see I'm a burden. I only pull you back when you have a bright future. What would your fiancee think if she saw us. I don't need your help anymore. If you want me to accept you, give me space to grow by myself so that I can stand beside you." Lara calmly said before exiting the car.
