C17 Sometimes I Would Lie!
It’s not that she was pretending to be aloof; it was just that Hsiao Hann often wandered by her classroom. Although her classmates assumed the handsome and wealthy Hsiao Hann was there for Gao Shiyan, only Hsiao Hann, Gao Shiyan, and Xia Shirann knew the truth. He was merely looking for awkward topics to chat with Shirann and constantly asking about her daily schedule.
This was why Gao Shiyan had it out for her, both openly and subtly.
Recalling this, Xia Shirann deliberately avoided Hsiao Hann's gaze.
“Ding—You have a new delivery order, please check it.”
The notification chimed from the phone. The chubby boss, after receiving the message, said to Xia Shirann, “Rann, prepare a Seven-Up float and a special double-layered milk pudding to deliver to... huh? Isn’t that just across the street?”
The boss looked puzzled, glancing from the road to the address on the order, confirming it was indeed the hotel across the way.
With a chuckle, the boss said, “Maybe they don’t realize our shop is right across the street. They’re paying an extra three bucks for delivery. How about this, Rann? Pack a small cup of jasmine tea for the customer, on the house.”
“Sure,” Xia Shirann nodded, starting to prepare the drinks, though her mind was racing.
Could someone be doing this on purpose?
The face of Hsu Chiyang flashed in her mind.
The last time, he had specifically ordered delivery to meet her, and he had also “coincidentally” run into her at her apartment complex. This made her wonder if Hsu Chiyang was staying at the hotel across the street.
With only herself in the shop, she couldn't exactly claim a stomachache and ask the boss to deliver the orders. But then Xia Shirann's eyes lit up. Maybe a little white lie now and then wouldn't hurt...
After packing up the drinks, she put on a pained expression, clutching her stomach. "Boss, I suddenly have a bit of a stomachache. Could you please deliver this to the customer?"
The boss didn't think much of it, considering it was just across the street. He advised Xia Shirann to drink some warm water and headed out with the drinks.
Xia Shirann let out a quiet sigh of relief and made her way to the restroom. When she came out, she bumped into Hsiao Hann, waiting by the door.
It was then Xia Shirann remembered Hsiao Hann was still there...
His eyes were filled with concern. "Are you okay? Not feeling well?"
Xia Shirann's gaze wavered, but she had to keep up the act. "I'm fine. Just had a bit of a stomachache earlier, but it's gone now."
Hsiao Hann wasn't convinced. "Are you sure? You look a bit pale."
Her eyes flickered, and she forced a smile. "Do I?"
She had just touched up her makeup in the restroom...
"Really, I'm fine." Xia Shirann managed a weak smile. She glanced across the street and saw her boss emerging from the hotel entrance. She slipped past Hsiao Hann. "I should get back to work."
Unexpectedly, Shawn grabbed Rann's arm and said earnestly, "You love the drinks from this place so much, I'll just buy the whole shop. I did the math; it's not that big, and the equipment isn't too expensive. It would cost around thirty to forty thousand dollars in total. I'll take over the shop, and you can be the boss, so you won't have to work part-time anymore."
Rann was taken aback.
What?
He actually thought this through...
She was at a loss for words...
Shawn looked at her with such sincere, eager eyes, just like her golden retriever, Lucky, used to. When Lucky completed a trick and stared at the treat in her hand, he had the same hopeful, expectant look...
