C19 As Long as It Wasn't That Person!
The two were at a standoff when Shirann's phone rang from her pocket. She breathed a sigh of relief, thinking it was finally a chance to shake off Hsiao Hann, but tensed up again when she saw the caller ID. It was Yang Mo. She had just mentioned she was coming to see her. If Yang Mo found out about her and Hsiao Hann... Shirann felt a bit irritated. There was nothing between them, yet some things couldn't be easily explained away.
Answering the call, she heard Yang Mo's complaining voice on the other end: "Rann, where's that Tianmu Milk Tea Shop you mentioned? I only found a place called Simo Milk Tea."
Shirann glanced at Hsiao Hann and started walking away as she spoke on the phone: "The Simo one you saw, just go past the traffic light and take a left. It's not far from there."
"Oh... alright, I'll call you if I can't find it."
"Okay."
By the time Shirann hung up, she was already standing by the counter. The owner was frowning at the delivery order records, and when he caught sight of her, he asked with concern, "Rann, are you feeling better?"
"Yeah, yeah." Shirann felt a bit guilty for her little white lie. "My stomach doesn't hurt anymore."
Seeing the owner still looking a bit troubled, she asked, "What's wrong, boss?"
He handed her his phone, looking worried. "Look, the guests at the hotel across the street want us to deliver milk tea every afternoon for the next month..."
Xia Shirann felt a slight jolt in her heart but casually asked, "Is that guest staying long-term at the hotel? What kind of person is he?"
"A guy, not very tall, pretty slim. The thing is, he knows the milk tea shop is right across the street, and he doesn't look like someone who has trouble walking."
"Is he handsome?" Xia Shirann asked, playfully batting her eyes.
The owner laughed at her, "You getting all starry-eyed? That's rare! But honestly, he's not handsome at all, not even as good-looking as me!"
Xia Shirann couldn't help but burst out laughing, agreeing, "Right, right, you're the handsome one!"
In truth, the owner was in his thirties, a bit on the heavy side, but his features weren't bad.
Listening to the owner's description, Xia Shirann secretly breathed a sigh of relief—just as long as it wasn't him.
That person was strikingly handsome, with a bunch of little girls giving him candy and clay since elementary school.
So she was sure the hotel guest across the street wasn't him.
...
As long as it wasn't him.
...
"Maybe there's some reason for it, but it's good for the shop anyway," Xia Shirann smiled, steering the conversation back, and wiped a small stain off the counter with a cloth.
While busy, she caught a glimpse of Hsiao Hann already back at his seat, leisurely sipping his mango juice and watching her every move.
Xia Shirann felt uneasy but had to pretend she hadn't noticed anything, silently hoping that when Yang Mo arrived, nothing awkward would happen.
Soon enough, a striking figure appeared at the entrance of the milk tea shop. Yang Mo walked in, dressed in a breezy, gradient sky-blue sundress, carrying a pink purse. Her exposed arms and legs seemed to glow with a fair radiance.
Yang Mo's eyes locked onto Shirann, who was wearing her work apron, and she approached with a bright smile. "Finally found this place. It's a bit out of the way, isn't it?"
The shop owner, clearly impressed by the sight of Yang Mo, spoke to Shirann but couldn't take his eyes off Yang Mo. "Rann, is this your friend?"
"Yes," Shirann replied with a smile. She couldn't deny that Yang Mo had a knack for becoming the center of attention wherever she went.
