C16 We will Go! Let's Go!
Early in the morning, Jiang Xinyue sent a text to Fu Shaochen: "Let's sign the divorce agreement later today."
Fu Shaochen had already arrived at the hospital early that morning. He wanted to say something to Jiang Xinyue, but the words just wouldn't come out. The reality of the situation loomed over him like a mountain, impossible to ignore. When he saw the text from Jiang Xinyue, he felt a strange sense of delight. But her message contained exactly what he dreaded most.
"Alright, I'm at the hospital. The agreement is in the car."
Jiang Xinyue was surprised at how eager he seemed to finalize the divorce, even keeping the agreement in his car. But it was just as well; she was ready to move on from this chapter of her life.
Jiang Xinyue opened the agreement. Fu Shaochen had divided the assets fairly, giving her a substantial amount. She accepted it without hesitation; she would need the money to raise their child and had no intention of being overly gracious.
With a flourish, she signed her name, Jiang Xinyue, marking the end of her youth. Goodbye, my love.
Fu Shaochen watched as Jiang Xinyue confidently signed her name, yet he couldn't bring himself to do the same. Despite having decided on the divorce, his heart was restless, feeling an inexplicable emptiness.
...
Five years later.
Cloud City Jewelry's exclusive gala.
Let's welcome our Chief Designer, Jane, to introduce the design philosophy of Cloud City Jewelry and share her vision for the future of high-end jewelry.
A woman in a white dress stepped onto the stage, her attire perfectly tailored, exuding elegance and poise. Her matching jewelry was equally refined, adding a unique touch to her appearance. With a captivating, relaxed voice, she began to explain the design philosophy of Cloud City Jewelry.
However, the audience was more interested in discussing her than listening to her presentation.
"She has such a great figure and carries herself with so much grace."
"Who is this Jane? She's so young to be the Chief Designer at Cloud City Jewelry."
"She's from the UK headquarters, a graduate of Kingston University's jewelry design program. Her mentor is the top designer in the industry—Merle."
Jiang Xinyue watched the audience, her thoughts drifting. She had left Cloud City five years ago, and today marked her first return.
Last month, Merle received an invitation from Cloud City Jewelry to become their Chief Designer. He declined but suggested that they could benefit from the expertise of his most talented student, Jane.
"Jane, I heard you're from Cloud City. When the local jewelry brand reached out, I recommended you. It's a great opportunity to advance your career and spend some time with your family."
Jiang Xinyue felt a pang of sadness. Family—she no longer had any in Cloud City. After her parents died in a car accident and the Jiang family went bankrupt, her uncles pressured her into marrying Fu Shaochen to save the family assets. To her, those people could no longer be called family. She was just heartbroken that her loving parents, who raised her, were gone before she could repay their kindness.
As for Fu Shaochen, he was no longer a part of her life. He had probably already married his first love by now. Her world now revolved around her two precious children.
When Jiang Xinyue left Cloud City for further studies in the UK, she discovered she was expecting twins. It was a delightful surprise but also a challenge. Being in a foreign country, she struggled to take care of herself, let alone two little ones. Fortunately, her close friend Soong Xiao was also in the UK studying medicine and helped her a lot, even becoming the children's godmother.
Cloud City offered excellent educational resources, and her children were now ready for preschool. Though young, they were incredibly bright and needed proper guidance. With this in mind, Jiang Xinyue returned to Cloud City with her two little ones.
