C17 He Went Back to Cloud City to See Him
After the Cloud City Jewelry event wrapped up, Xinyue headed backstage to find her two kids.
“Mommy, you’re back!” The two children spotted her and immediately ran over to hug her.
When she gave birth to these two, it was a difficult delivery, lasting ten hours. But seeing how adorable they are now makes it all worthwhile.
“Mu Li, Songge, were you two behaving backstage?”
“No, we were good! The staff even gave us some snacks!” Mu Li said, holding a treat up to Xinyue’s mouth.
Because the kids are so cute and smart, Xinyue’s colleagues are always kind to them.
Xinyue gently pinched her son’s soft cheek. “How did your studies go today?”
“All done! It was so easy, it’s like an insult to my intelligence,” Mu Li boasted with a grin.
Even at a young age, Mu Li has shown a remarkable talent for IT. He can solve problems that stump many professionals, and he even helps Xinyue with technical issues at work.
Soong Xiao once joked, “Xinyue, your son could work at a computer store and make money for you.”
“Mommy, do you like my drawing?” Songge asked, holding up her artwork for Xinyue to see.
“Wow, sweetheart, you did an amazing job! The picture of Mommy is beautiful.” Xinyue hugged her daughter and gave her a big kiss.
Jiang Songge had drawn a scene of Xinyue speaking on stage. The colors were vibrant, and while the technique was a bit childlike, it had a unique charm.
When Jiang Songge was born, she was premature and had some heart issues. It wasn’t life-threatening, but she needed annual check-ups. Xinyue doted on her daughter, always worried about her well-being.
“You all did great today! Let’s pack up and head to the new house, then we’ll go get some snacks!”
“Yay, yay!” Mu Li grabbed her sister’s hand and ran to the car.
...
The new house was close to Xinyue’s studio. Soong Xiao had helped her find it. The neighborhood had good security and was in a decent area. Although it couldn’t compare to her old place at Wave Garden, it was conveniently located near her work and the kids’ school.
The housekeeper had already cleaned, so Xinyue didn’t have much to do, especially with two helpful little ones eager to assist.
“Mommy, we’re starving! Let’s go get some snacks.”
“Alright, alright, let’s go.”
The three of them headed to the mall.
She took the kids to her favorite bakery. During her years in England, she often craved their cakes. Now that she was back, she planned to buy plenty and indulge.
While carefully making her selection, she suddenly heard a familiar voice, "Could you pack a slice of cheesecake for me?"
The man's voice was deep and magnetic, and it startled Xinyue. It was him, Shaochen. She hadn't expected to run into him so soon after returning to the States.
And in this very bakery, no less. She had ordered a cake from here for Shaochen's birthday years ago, but by the time he got home from celebrating with friends, it was too late, and he hadn't even had a bite.
Even though five years had passed, she couldn't forget his cold words: "It's just a business arrangement. Why are you taking it seriously?"
She had been so naive, thinking marriage meant they would grow old together, never parting. Little did she know he saw her merely as a tool to secure his interests. She felt like a fool.
"Mommy, I want this one. Can you help me get it? I can't reach," her daughter's voice snapped Xinyue out of her daze. She quickly regained her composure. Shaochen couldn't see these two kids; he couldn't know about them. Given the Fu family's status, they wouldn't tolerate their own flesh and blood being out in the world like this.
Besides, Shaochen was likely married by now, and his current wife surely wouldn't accept these two children.
