C5 Chapter five

DANIEL

I got to Abuja's airport and made a call through one of my cousin's. Since he already knew about my arrival he promised to come pick me up. I found a place to sit down till he comes and thought about what went on in the airport.

It was her, it was really Elizabeth and she already had a daughter.

What if the young girl was mine?

She already moved on?

Well, what did you think was going to happen? Sit there and mop about! She never loved you! My subconscious made jest of me.

Stupid mind.

I brought out my phone and scrolled through my Instagram feed. I saw that I've been tagged in a few posts, from people I know and those I didn't know.

After twenty five minutes of sitting around and scrolling through my phone, I received a text message from David, my cousin who was coming to pick me up, telling me he was already here.

I grabbed my boxes and made my way out of the airport. He was standing at the front of his white Audi, wearing a black jeans and a plain black round neck top.

"Finally home!" He acted excited as he collected one of my boxes.

I rolled my eyes and chuckled. "Be grateful I came home earlier."

"Me grateful? You know I can live without seeing you for a very long time." He said as he opened his booth and we both placed the boxes in.

"It's your grandma that has been disturbing the whole family about seeing you. I'm sure she said something about a get-together dinner."

We both laughed. My grandma has always been one to exaggerate stuffs and she's also the most expensive one in the family. I made myself comfortable in the car as I strapped my seat belt.

"New?" I asked about the car.

"Yes, just got it last week." He replied as he started the engine.

We talked about a lot of things I had missed on. Like some of my cousin's wedding party and all. I'm never one to come home for such things, cause I know once I come back all the family members will start asking too much questions.

And I know for a sure thing that if I had come back then my grandma would have match made me with one of her friends daughters. Not that she hadn't brought it up even when I was over there.

You could say my grandma is problematic. But in a bit so annoying way. Don't tell her I said that.

About two hours later we got to our estate. It was not the same as I left it. There was many other houses and those that have been there since are still as new as when it was first built.

He honk to the gate. The gate man came to open the gate since he recognized David.

He parked the car and we both got down to take down my boxes. That was when I saw a familiar old woman coming towards us.

She had a huge grin on her face. "Uncle Daniel! Welcome back ohh!" She greeted me.

"Yes ma." I gave her a polite smile

"I'm sure grandma does not know you planned on coming today. Because she did not say anything." She said as she picked up one bag and then called the boy at thee gate to come and help her with the rest.

"Not at all." I laughed.

She greeted David then, "I can't wait to tell her, she'll be so happy!" She said eagerly and then left.

"Ahh! I won't be able to stay again as we already planned," he said frowning at his phone screen "there's something I need to go and take care of."

"Okay no problem. We'll see later na." I grinned as we did our bro handshake stuff.

"Greet momsy for me ohh."

"No wahala."

He got into his car and then drove out of the compound.

I grinned as I made my way inside the house. Knowing how excited my grandma will be seeing me, since I told her I was not ready to come home now.

"Eh!eh!eh!eh!" I heard the familiar voice as I watched her small frame coming down from the stairs with eagerness in here steps.

"My son is back!" She grinned widely as she shugged me.

"Grandma," I drawled out. "I missed you ohh."

"Donc, vous avez menti sur le retour à la maison la semaine prochaine!" (So, that means you lied about coming home next week!) She grabbed my ear playfully.

" C'est une surprise je savais que tu ne m'attendrais pas" ( it's a surprise, I knew you wouldn't be expecting me) I replied her as she released my ears.

"Are you sure you are eating good food over there?" She asked as she pulled my face closer and pinched my cheeks.

"Yes ma." I laughed

"Aaraoluwa!" I heard my grandma say which confused me for a while until I noticed a woman dressed in a nurse attire.

She walked towards us and gave me a small smile which I returned. She had a small frame, not to small probably around 5'2 or 5'3, she had her curves in every place necessary.

I'm not staring.

Ok, yh I'm staring. Fuck it!

"This is my grandson, Daniel."

"Daniel meet Aaraoluwa, my personal nurse." She held my arm.

"It's nice to meet you Aara." I stretched my hand to shake hers. They looked rather small to my large hands.

"Same here." She replied as she placed her hand in mine and smiled at me as we both stared at each other.

She cleared her throat holding her bag Tighter in her hands "ma, I will be taking my leave now. I'll see you tomorrow."

The things I imagined doing to her body. Daniel, take your mind out of the gutter! Jesus!

"Oh, okay my dear. Thank you!"

Oh Lord help me. I thought as I stated at her as she left the house.

"You must be hungry." My grandma said bringing back my attention to her. It was not a question.

"Yeah."

"Okay, go to your room and freshen up. I'll call you when your food is ready." She patted my back.

"Don't stress yourself ohh." I said as I made my way up to my room.
