C12 Young Master Zuo Slapped His Face

"Hey, it's me."

Jiabao pulled down the hood of his sweatshirt and took off his mask, grimacing as he pleaded, "Stop hitting me, it really hurts."

"Jiabao? Why are you sneaking around following me?"

"I'm bored, so I thought I'd play hide and seek with you."

"Tell the truth!"

Yueyue raised her fist, pretending to hit her brother. "I don't believe your nonsense. Why are you really following me?"

Afraid of his sister's fist, Jiabao regretted his lack of stealth, having been caught so soon. He confessed, "Mom's worried you'll get tricked by some guy. She asked me to check out what your boyfriend looks like and if his family's well-off."

Yueyue was furious. "This is my business. I've already told you all to stay out of it, but you keep bothering me. Do you want a beating?"

"Come on, sis, Mom and I are just looking out for you. You're so beautiful and talented, you shouldn't just marry anyone."

"None of your business! Get lost! If I catch you following me again, I'll break your legs!"

Yueyue's fierce expression showed she wasn't joking.

"Okay, okay, I'm leaving, alright?"

Jiabao, fearing a beating, shot his sister a disgruntled look before scurrying away.

Watching him disappear quickly, Yueyue felt a surge of frustration. She was already married; why couldn't her mom and brother just leave her alone?

Yueyue couldn't afford to be upset for long; she quickly went to check out nearby apartments, but returned disappointed. The thought of climbing five flights of stairs every day in an old building without an elevator was exhausting.

As she trudged to work, she received a call from an unknown number.

"Hello, who is this?"

"It's me, Xice."

Xice? The name sounded vaguely familiar, and then it hit her—it was the name of her husband on their marriage certificate.

"What do you need?"

"Let's meet."

Xice gave her the time and place, then hung up.

Yueyue frowned. What kind of person was this? He didn't even wait for her to agree before rudely ending the call.

Out of curiosity, she saved Xice's number in her phone under the note: That Guy.

Despite her reservations, Yueyue showed up on time. The meeting spot was a private room in a café.

She knocked and entered, spotting a man sitting by the window, sipping coffee with an air of elegance. He wore sunglasses indoors, dressed entirely in black. Yueyue rolled her eyes internally at his pretentiousness.

Seeing her, he gestured to the chair opposite him and said in a low voice, "Please close the door and have a seat. I ordered you a coffee."

Yueyue closed the door to the private room and walked over to sit down. She eyed the coffee in front of her warily, not daring to drink something from a stranger. She got straight to the point, “What do you want? If I remember correctly, our marriage agreement clearly states that we won’t interfere in each other’s lives and there’s no need to stay in touch.”

Caught off guard, Xice felt a bit embarrassed. He nodded in acknowledgment, “That’s true, but things have changed. We need to add a clause to the agreement.”

Yueyue was curious, “Add what?”

“You’ll live with me for three months.”

“What? Live together?” Yueyue stared at the man across from her in shock. “We’re in a fake marriage. There’s no need to live together, right?”

“There’s no need. But...” Xice gritted his teeth. If it weren’t for his grandmother pressuring him, he wouldn’t be doing something so outrageous. No way! Absolutely not!

Yueyue was puzzled, “If there’s no need, then why are we having this conversation?”

“For certain reasons, I need to do this. Consider it a deal between us.”

Yueyue laughed, “A deal? Why should I make a deal with you?”

For some reason, seeing Xice’s awkward and troubled expression gave her a sense of satisfaction. The first time she met this man, he left a terrible impression—arrogant and full of himself. She never expected that just a day later, he’d be coming to her to propose a deal.

Zuo Xice clenched his teeth again. Even with sunglasses on, he could see the smug little smile playing at the corners of Wooh Yueyue's eyes. Zuo Xice, a veteran in the business world, was not used to asking for favors. His dear grandmother, claiming to act out of love, had clearly put him in a tight spot!

Taking a deep breath, Zuo Xice tried to stay calm. He added, "Don't worry, once we move in, we'll have separate rooms and won't bother each other. Plus, I'll make it worth your while."
