C14 Move into His House

Wooh Yueyue, exhausted, said, "Mom, I've been working all day and I'm really tired. Can we not talk about this? Please, just stay out of my business. If you have too much energy, maybe you should try finding Panpan. It's been three years without any news, aren't you worried about her?"

"Don't mention that girl! I don't care what happens to her."

"Panpan is your daughter too. Don't you miss her at all?"

"What good would that do? Who knows where she ended up? Three years ago, she ran off with some guy, and she can forget about ever coming back to the Wooh family!"

Soong Yan got upset at the mention of her younger daughter and abruptly hung up the phone.

For years, Yueyue had been trying to find any information about her sister, but it was all in vain. Ever since Panpan ran off with her boyfriend, she had vanished without a trace. After hanging up, Yueyue made herself a bowl of noodles. Once she finished eating, she started packing her things. She didn't have much—just some personal items and clothes—so it didn't take long to fit everything into a suitcase and a cardboard box.

Yueyue cleaned her room, left the key on the shoe cabinet by the entrance, and drove off with her luggage to Capital No.1 Villa.

...

When she stood at the door of apartment 1701, holding her luggage, she hesitated for a moment before entering the code. She was taking a gamble, hoping that Zuo Xice was a decent guy who wouldn't take advantage of her.

She convinced herself it was necessary, doing what she had to for a peaceful life, leaving her with no other choice.

The door opened to a dark room, indicating that Zuo Xice hadn't returned yet. Wooh Yueyue stepped inside, switched on the light, and moved her luggage in before closing the door. She opened the shoe cabinet by the entrance and found several pairs of brand-new slippers. Slipping on a pair, she walked in to explore the house.

The home's decor was modern and luxurious, featuring a black, white, and gray palette with a minimalist design that lacked a central light fixture. The furnishings were from top brands, and the appliances were imported, showcasing the owner's refined taste.

Wooh Yueyue assumed this was Zuo Xice's residence. Owning a property in this area typically indicated a substantial income. To her, Zuo Xice seemed like a business elite, perhaps a white-collar professional.

In reality, this was the least expensive of Zuo Xice's properties. He had purchased two units here when the development first opened, attracted by the prime location. One was a high-rise apartment, and the other was an unfinished three-story villa in the nearby villa district.

With the homeowner absent, Wooh Yueyue felt it necessary to inform him of her arrival. She sent a message to Mr. Zuo: "Mr. Zuo, I've arrived at your place. Could you please let me know which bedroom I should stay in? Is it okay for me to go in now?" She also attached a few photos of the rooms for him to see.

Zuo Xice was still hard at work in the office when Lian Qi noticed his phone light up. “Sir, your phone just went off,” he reminded him.

Zuo picked up his phone and opened a message from Wooh Yueyue. He replied, “You can stay in the guest room, the one next to the living room.”

Yueyue responded, “Okay. Mr. Zuo, could you bring the agreement back with an additional clause?”

Zuo replied with a simple, “Okay.”

Just as he set the phone down, it rang again. It was his grandmother calling.

“Grandma,” he answered.

Zhong Lan’s voice was stern over the line. “Xice, I know Wooh Yueyue has already arrived at the Capital No.1 Villa. Go there right after work. Don’t try any tricks; I know exactly where you are and what you’re doing.”

“I understand, Grandma. Don’t worry, I’ll keep my promise.”

“Good, that’s my boy.”

After hanging up, Zuo gave Lian Qi a scrutinizing look. “How does Grandma know everything?”

Lian Qi, sensing the implication, quickly explained, “Sir, it wasn’t me who told her. You know how she is; if she wants to find something out, she has her ways.”

Lian Qi was telling the truth. In her younger days, Zhong Lan was a formidable businesswoman, known for her strategic acumen. Even in retirement, she still had a network of people working for her, making it easy for her to stay informed.

"Lian Qi, I'll be staying at the Capital No.1 Villa with Yueyue for a while, as Grandma requested. Please be discreet about my identity."

Lian Qi nodded, "Understood. I'll have security nearby 24/7 to ensure your safety. Reach out to me anytime if you need anything."
