C9 Staying in His Comfortable Circle
Wooh Yueyue took the elevator to the 9th floor of the Lotus Family Beauty Decor Company. This company was started by her best friend, Xia Hee, and Yueyue has been working there since she graduated from college. Over the years, through her hard work, she has built a strong client base, and the company has been thriving.
Xia Hee comes from a wealthy family and owns several businesses, so she's usually busy. Yueyue manages this company for her. Yueyue hasn't disappointed her; she's kept everything running smoothly, earning the company a great reputation and bringing in good profits.
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she received a call from Xia Hee.
"Yueyue, are you at work yet? Come to my office for a moment."
"Yeah, I'm here."
Yueyue headed straight to Xia Hee's office, knocked twice, and walked in.
"Yueyue, have you had breakfast? Come on, let's eat together," Xia Hee greeted warmly, handing her a pair of chopsticks.
"With good food, how could I resist?" Yueyue replied, not standing on ceremony, as she sat across from Xia Hee and picked up a dumpling.
After breakfast, Xia Hee couldn't hold back her curiosity and asked Yueyue, "I heard from a friend that you really had a fake marriage with that guy yesterday?"
The friend Xia Hee mentioned is Yan Sheng, another person from a wealthy family. They met at a party, hit it off, and have been friends ever since.
Wooh Yueyue nodded, "Yeah, I got married, but it's a secret marriage. We're planning to divorce in a year. I'm sorry, Summer, but I signed an agreement with him. I can't share any details about him with anyone, not even you."
In truth, aside from his name, she knew nothing about him.
"It's fine. It's just a fake marriage anyway. I don't really care who you're married to. It's just a temporary arrangement you'll eventually leave behind."
Summer understood but couldn't help her curiosity. "Just tell me, is he good-looking? I asked Yan Sheng who your secret husband is, and he wouldn't spill a word!"
Wooh Yueyue smiled, "Well, he's kind of handsome, but it doesn't matter to me. I don't even have his contact info. He's just a stranger."
Summer felt a pang of sympathy for Yueyue and sighed, "My mom always wanted to set you up with someone, but you weren't interested. Now you're in this fake marriage just to keep your family off your back. What a situation."
"Summer, I'm really grateful for your mom's kindness. You know my background. The guys she introduced were all from well-off families, and I just don't fit into that world."
Yueyue spoke gently, but in reality, she was a proud person. She didn't want to climb the social ladder or be looked down upon. She just wanted to stay in her own comfort zone.
"Alright, some things you can advise on, but love isn't one of them. Just let it be. Yueyue, I don't see you as an outsider. If you ever need my help, please let me know."
Yueyue nodded, "Okay."
The two young women finished their breakfast, enjoyed some coffee, and then went their separate ways to work.
As Yueyue walked into her office and sat down, designer Xiaomin knocked and entered. "Ms. Wooh, someone is here to see you."
While starting up her computer, Yueyue asked, "Who is it?"
"An elderly woman. She says she wants to renovate a house."
"You can handle it. Just introduce her to some styles she might like."
Xiaomin frowned slightly, "But, Ms. Wooh, she insists that she's looking for the manager to personally help with the design."
"Alright, let her in."
Yueyue majored in interior design in college, so creating a renovation plan for a client was second nature to her.
Xiaomin stepped closer, whispering in Yueyue's ear, "Ms. Wooh, try to get some details from her. See if she really has a house to renovate. She looks quite modest, not like someone wealthy. I hope she's not just here to waste time. Some elderly folks get bored and just want someone to chat with, taking up others' time."
Yueyue looked at Xiaomin seriously and said, "You can't judge a book by its cover! As long as they're a client of our company, we must provide excellent service to everyone. Even if we don't close the deal this time, they might spread the word about us for free."
