C14 Smart and Clever!(part I)

Old Madam Su, even if she wanted to favor Su Yuxi, couldn't possibly speak up for her at this moment. Sure enough, Old Madam Su, with a stern face, said, "Second Miss, as the elder sister, you should set an example for your younger siblings in both words and actions. How can you speak so recklessly? Go and copy the Heart Sutra a hundred times."

Su Yuxi's eyes widened. "Grandmother, that matter was actually..." Before she could finish, Nanny Yuv, standing by Old Madam Su, interrupted, "Second Miss, the Madam's health isn't good. Don't upset her further."

Saying anything more would be disrespectful!

Su Yuxi felt a surge of frustration stuck in her chest, unable to vent it, and could only glare fiercely at Su Yu'an. There was nothing else she could do.

Even though Su Yu'an was still leaning on Danzhu's shoulder, she could imagine Su Yuxi's expression and nearly burst out laughing.

It wasn't until they were in the carriage heading back home that Su Yuxi saw Su Yu'an's face directly. She felt a deep disdain—crying so sorrowfully, yet her eyes weren't even red.

"Su Yu'an, you have no shame!" Su Yuxi's look seemed as if she wanted to take a bite out of Su Yu'an.

Su Yu'an responded casually, "Oh, got it," and then turned to look out the window.

The one thing better about ancient times compared to the modern era was the air quality. As long as it was a sunny day, the sky was a clear blue, especially in this bustling April when the countryside looked like a painting wherever you went.

Even though Su Yu'an often went out, she still felt there was too much to take in. Su Yuxi, however, wasn't in the mood to enjoy the scenery. Her frustration with Su Yu'an was genuine, though she hadn't expected Su Yu'an to be so shameless.

"Su Yu'an, you really have no shame!" Su Yuxi shouted at her.

At that moment, Su Yuxi envied the women living on the back street of the Su residence. When they were upset, they would just lash out, which seemed far more satisfying than mere words.

"Sister, I've already said I understand," Su Yu'an sighed, turning to look at Su Yuxi seriously. "But, sister, I must remind you, our elder sister is now a consort in the palace. You're the head of the household, so you should be careful with your words. We don't want people thinking the consort comes from a family without manners."

"Don't use the consort to pressure me..." Su Yuxi began, but was interrupted by Su Yuleng, "Sister, let's just drop it."

Su Yuxi fell silent, and Su Yu'an finally had some peace.

Back at the Su residence, everyone escorted Old Madam Su to the Peaceful Longevity Hall before returning to their own quarters. Su Yuxi, still fuming, stormed off to her room without a word.

Su Yuleng called out to Su Yu'an.

"Third Sister, I know you were using me in the carriage. But isn't it a bit much to be so calculating between sisters?" Su Yuleng looked at Su Yu'an coldly.

Su Yu'an almost laughed. Being calculating is bad, but openly mocking or scolding someone is good? The double standards were so obvious, yet she expected everyone else to be fools.

"Fourth Sister, I was just speaking the truth. Otherwise, why doesn't Eldest Aunt-in-law ever take her along when she goes to banquets?" Su Yu'an gave Su Yuleng a long look, then leaned in closer to say, "Fourth Sister, you should understand that in this family, who can afford to disregard the consort in the palace?"

"What do you mean by that, Third Sister?" Su Yuleng's expression grew even colder.

"Just what it sounds like. I'm tired, so I'll head back now." Su Yu'an nodded at Su Yuleng and gracefully turned to leave.

Su Yuleng stood there, staring blankly at Su Yu'an's slender silhouette as she walked away.
