C16 (part I)

The jade pendant was engraved with the character "Jiang."

Was it Jiang Qixing's or Jiang Qiyun's?

"Why don't you take it to Blessing Tower and ask?" Su Yu'an suggested to Danzhu.

"Miss, isn't that inappropriate?" Danzhu replied, looking troubled. "What if... what if it belongs to General Jiang?"

"Don't worry. Since we're going to be married, there should be some trust," Su Yu'an said calmly, adding, "If he has any sense, he won't misunderstand."

The "he" naturally referred to Jiang Qiyun.

Although Danzhu thought men were often quick to suspect infidelity, seeing Su Yu'an's confidence, she decided not to dwell on it.

In the afternoon, Danzhu made a trip to Blessing Tower and returned with a smile, even bringing back a package of their signature dish, pig's feet.

In a previous life, Su Yu'an had been trapped under a collapsed building during an aftershock while doing psychological relief work in a disaster area, ultimately starving to death. Because of this, she had always had a soft spot for food.

However, when Danzhu opened the red lacquered box, Su Yu'an couldn't help but cover her nose.

"What is that smell?" Lvqing quickly ran over to open the window wider.

Unfortunately, it was still April, and there was no fan in the room. Otherwise, she would have certainly used one to fan the air.

“Miss, pig trotters always have a bit of a smell,” Danzhu reluctantly said.

“Nonsense, Bai Ji’s pig trotters don’t have that smell,” Lvqing immediately retorted.

Su Yu’an glanced again at the plate of pig trotters, forcing herself to take a bite since it was from Jiang Qiyun’s restaurant. But after eating, she was even more puzzled.

“They actually consider this a signature dish? How does this place stay open?” Su Yu’an took several sips of tea.

“I doubt it. There’s hardly anyone here,” Danzhu replied.

Su Yu’an thought about mentioning that Danzhu didn’t visit during peak hours, but one look at the pig trotters stopped her.

Oh, what a waste! This is what it means to squander money.

Not only is the money not spent wisely, but it’s also used in areas where they’re least skilled.

“By the way, what about that jade buckle?” Su Yu’an asked Danzhu.

“I ran into Jiang Ann, and he said the jade buckle belongs to the Second Young Master,” Danzhu said with a laugh. “You wouldn’t believe it, but I was so scared it might belong to General Jiang.”

Su Yu’an had already guessed it was Jiang Qiyun’s. After all, Jiang Qixing is a military general; he wouldn’t wear something like that.

But you never know, Mrs. Xia, coming from a merchant family, is quite particular about material things, so she had Danzhu inquire about it.

"Jiang Ann mentioned that his young master would like to meet the lady again to clarify some unfinished matters," Danzhu said softly.

"I knew it! Our lady is as beautiful as a goddess. What man wouldn't be captivated?" Lvqing chimed in with a cheerful smile.

"Is that really a connection?" Su Yu'an chuckled.

"Of course! The second young master of the Jiang family didn't know how beautiful you were before. Now that he does, naturally, he wants to see you again," Lvqing replied confidently.

Su Yu'an knew Lvqing was a fan of her looks and would always find a way to bring it up, so she let her be.

With some free time, Su Yu'an pondered over her agreement with Jiang Qiyun and even wrote it down to avoid any oversights. However, she knew she couldn't keep this from Danzhu and Lvqing, as many tasks required their involvement.

Once she had everything written down, Su Yu'an called them over to take a look.
