C17 It Was Not Easy to be a Sister(last part)
"No, no, no, it can't be true, can it?" Lvqing stammered, her tongue tied. "Miss, how could you and Second Young Master Jiang do such a thing?"
Danzhu was equally shocked and hurriedly asked, "Miss, is this what you discussed with Second Young Master Jiang that day?"
Su Yu'an nodded, "Yes."
Lvqing's eyes immediately reddened. "Miss, this isn't right! Look at you... you're like a fairy. How can you live such a life?"
Su Yu'an, however, didn't see anything wrong with it. There was food and drink, and no one to control her. If she could live like this forever, it would be ideal. But Jiang Qiyun wasn't truly uninterested in women, and she couldn't really hold him back.
In this life, Su Yu'an had seen enough of ancient men's multiple wives and concubines. She no longer hoped for a lifelong, exclusive relationship; she just wanted to live quietly. If she didn't marry, Mrs. Soong would probably cry her eyes out, so she chose Jiang Qixing.
Su Yu'an had originally planned to turn a blind eye and fulfill her duties without investing her heart. Now that Jiang Qiyun didn't even require her to fulfill any duties, it was a win-win situation.
Yet, the two maids were either crying or causing a fuss, their faces pale as if the sky had fallen.
"Enough, listen to me!" Su Yu'an pointed to the last line of the contract. "This is what I discussed with Jiang Qiyun. After three years, we will part ways."
"Divorce?" Danzhu and Lvqing exclaimed in unison, feeling as if the sky was falling.
"Yes, I was thinking that after the divorce, I'd set up my own household and live my own life, without bothering my parents and brothers," Su Yu'an replied calmly.
"And then?" Danzhu managed to ask, while Lvqing was already in tears.
"Then I'll live freely, take you both on trips to the South, maybe visit the North, and if I meet someone nice, I'll marry them," Su Yu'an said with a smile, looking at the two.
The mention of finding someone nice was something Su Yu'an added on the spot. Without it, these two maids might have woken up with half their hair turned gray by morning.
"So, are you coming with me?" Su Yu'an asked them. "If you don't want to live such a hard life with me, I can talk to my mother about finding you a different place. You won't be treated poorly."
"No way," Danzhu immediately replied. "I will definitely follow you, miss."
Lvqing nodded vigorously, "Me too, no matter what... I'll stay with you, miss."
"Then stop crying!" Su Yu'an pinched Lvqing's tear-streaked face. "You're a young girl of thirteen or fourteen, don't cry like an old lady, okay?"
"Danzhu, should we tell Mrs. Soong about this?" Danzhu asked, her eyes red.
"Absolutely not. If we say anything, it should be three years from now," Su Yu'an replied, waving her hand dismissively and glaring at the two of them. "You two are my maids. If you dare to go against my wishes, you'd better leave now."
Seeing that Su Yu'an had made up her mind, Danzhu and Lvqing exchanged a glance and reluctantly agreed, "We'll do as you say, Miss."
Su Yu'an's face broke into a radiant smile. "Good, that's what I call my true sisters!"
The two maids wore pained expressions, realizing for the first time that being her 'sisters' wasn't as easy as it sounded.
As if on cue, just as Su Yu'an finished drafting her plans, news arrived from the Treasure Pavilion that Jiang Qiyun wanted to meet her the day after tomorrow.
