C4 Unexpected visit 2

After Mike left, I picked up my phone and texted Jenny to meet me at the mall. She didn't take long to reply, saying that she was currently at work but would meet up with me as soon as she closes.

- No problem, I text back before putting my phone down and heading to the bathroom for a shower. The blast of cold water nearly made my trip. ‘Is the heater broken again? Gosh, I hate my life right now.’ I shower with the freezing water and spend the rest of my day just lazing around, watching TV, and eating chips. My fridge was nearly empty, with just a carton of milk, some eggs, and a can of tuna left in it. Another huge reason why I badly needed this job. But how would I concentrate when Mr. Grumpy-Pants-Incredibly-hot stuff was acting like some weird stalker and following me around? I know he's my new boss and all but sheesh! He should tone the creepy down.

Time moved slowly and by mid-noon, I was bored of TV, out of chips, and needed some fresh air. Maybe I should've opted for that cold yoga class that Jenny suggested a few months ago. At least I'd have somewhere to go! How do those people who stay unemployed for years do it? And how are they always so okay with it? I've been so restless all day!

Jenny's work time was finally over and she showed up at my house in a pretty yellow sundress and brown hippie sandals.

"Wow girl, you look awful! What happened?"

I shrug, then stretch my aching limbs.

"Nothing. I just spent more than ten hours of my life doing nothing and now I'm itching to be anywhere but here. Let me go change."

I dash off to my room, wearing the outfit I had selected which lay on my bed. It was a simple cream-colored blouse, a blue wrap skirt, and a pair of Vans. I accompanied it with some lip gloss and a floppy straw hat.

I step out of the room, strutting and striking a post for Jenny. She snorts, lifting a brow and smirking.

"Save the seduction for Mr. Mike."

I scowled at her as I opened my fridge trying to find something to snack on in the nearly empty container.

"If you don't shut it, Jenny, you'll smell like tuna to the mall."

She laughs as she takes a seat by the kitchen counter.

"He came by today," I said, opening the can of tuna. Is this thing still good?

"Really? What did you guys talk about, hmm?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows. The pungent smell from the tuna made me recoil. Well, I got my answer. Goodbye dear friend, into the trash with you.

"Work stuff. Rules, regulations, that sort of thing."

"No other sort of thing?" Jenny prodded and I gave her a dirty look. I picked up the milk. How long has it been here?

"Nope." I respond, popping the 'p'.

"Just boring non-sexual work stuff."

"I never mentioned sexually!"

I open the milk and take a sip. Yeah, still good.

"But you thought it," I say as I place the milk back in the fridge and shut it. She pouted.

"Well, you should have let me finish my sentence at least."

"Not when I know what you're about to say. Especially something as stupid as that."

"It's not stupid! It can happen!"

"Can we just go shopping now?" I ask impatiently. She stands and pulls a face at me.

"How do you even want to shop if you don't have any money?"

"Window shopping, my sweet love."

We make our way to her car, my nosy neighbor Rosaline making a beeline at us. Rosaline is as much of gossip as Delilah herself and I avoided her every effing time. Like now.

"Go, go, go, go!" I say alarmingly to Jenny as we power walk to her car and speed off, crop dusting nosy Rosaline in the process.

We arrive at the mall, the bustling building of noise, tears, and oversized sweaters. First, we head to the food court, cos I haven't eaten anything good all day.

"Mr. Grumpy but Hot looks kinda familiar," I say as I nibble on a pickle from my club sandwich. Jenny raises a brow.

"Familiar how?" she asks sipping the peppermint latte she ordered from the Mall's Starbucks.

"I don't know. He reminds me of someone. Someone I've met. Briefly though. Maybe I'm just imagining things."

She nods, a funny teasing look on her face. I snort and eat my sandwich.

We both spend the rest of our day in the mall, looking over pretty things and Jenny buying some outfits for herself and me.

As I sit in her car, my mind wanders to earlier that day when Mr. Grumpy But Hot came over. He had the cutest smile. And the softest looking lips

I shake my head. I've got to stop looking at my new boss like that. That's all he'll ever be; my boss. Nothing else.
