C3 Pure Taboo 3

"Are you remembering that I’m going to spend the weekend at my mom’s?"

I had forgotten about that, but I nod. Stephanie tells me she’s leaving very early tomorrow morning. Her mother is recovering from a minor surgery and she’s going to help out for the weekend, coming back only on Sunday afternoon.

...

I didn’t have the best night’s sleep, but at least I stayed in bed a little longer after saying goodbye to Stephanie. Her mom needs rest after the surgery, so she went to support her this weekend.

...

I’m already tired of staying home doing nothing, so I decide to go out to distract myself. I go to an Irish-style bar I used to visit with some friends a while back, back when we didn’t have so much homework. I like it here it’s a pleasant environment to clear my mind. After two glasses of whiskey, I decide to head back home.

It wouldn’t be smart to drink too much and then drive. This street is full of bars with different country themes. It’s been a while since I’ve been around here, so I slow the car down to see what has changed. I see a girl with short hair leaving a bar, laughing while holding onto a guy who looks much older than her. Oh no.

That’s the terror of my classes Suzy Chang.I think about parking and going to talk to them, but by the time I look for a spot, they’ve already gotten into a car and sped off. All I can do now is hope nothing bad happens to that reckless girl. I take a deep breath and shift gears to keep going when I see her leaving the same bar. I slow down again and watch as she looks around, searching for someone. She bumps into a stranger, and that’s when I realize she’s drunk.

Damn it. The girl I’ve been trying to avoid thinking about since last night is right here in front of me, and clearly needs help. I park the car and get out, walking toward her. As soon as she sees me, she smiles and comes toward me, hugging me by surprise. I hold her body and gently pull her away. She keeps smiling as I ask:

"What are you doing here, Miss Steinfield?"

"It’s Holly!"

"Okay, Holly. What are you doing here?"

She steps back, looks around, and answers:

"I’m with Suzy."

I say:

"I just saw Miss Chang leave with a guy."

She looks devastated and mutters to herself:

"Oh no, Suzy, you bitch!"

She tries to open her purse and, with great difficulty under my watchful eyes, pulls out a phone that clearly has no battery. She shows it to me as if I could somehow fix it.

"Do you have her number?"

I reply:

"No.""D*amn it!"

I say:

"I can call an Uber to take you home."

She immediately answers:

"No!"

I just watch her. She adds:

"I told my parents I was sleeping at Suzy’s house."

My God. What a huge problem I just got myself into. What do I do with this girl now?

...

She’s in my car now, almost falling asleep. I couldn’t leave her alone in that state. I drive around for a while trying to get her to remember her friend’s address, but she only mumbles something about Boulevard Street, which doesn’t help much without a number or more details. After driving a bit longer, I realize she has completely passed out. The only thing I can do now is take her home with me… and something tells me this is not the best idea I’ve ever had in my life.

...

I carry her in my arms and take her to the bedroom, laying her on the bed. Something tells me she wouldn’t last more than two minutes on the living room sofa without falling off. I can wait until she feels a little better and then take her to her friend’s house. After placing her on the bed, I stand there watching her for a while.

The same girl who made me fantasize about her while I was with my wife in the bathroom is now lying in my bed our bed practically unconscious. This is complete madness.

...

I eat an apple while thinking about all of this, turn on the TV to distract myself and stop thinking about the mess I’ve gotten into, but it’s almost impossible. I check the clock it’s already eleven at night. She’s been sleeping for about half an hour. Maybe she’s feeling better and can tell me the address so I can take her to her reckless friend.

I prepare an antacid, pour it into a glass, and take it to the bedroom. I open the door slowly and see her exactly as I left her.I try to get her attention, but nothing. I approach the bed and sit down, touching her shoulder. She stirs a little.

"Hey, Holly!"

She moves a bit more, turns toward me, opens her eyes and smiles. She still doesn’t seem very sober. I offer her the antacid and she accepts it, sitting up on the bed to drink. When she finishes, she hands me the glass and I ask:

"What were you doing there?"

She smiles and says:

"Having fun with my friend."

I reply:

"She left you alone."

She says:

"Oh come on, Professor, that’s just how it is."

Then she leans closer and, looking into my eyes, asks:

"Don’t you ever have fun, Professor Lewis?"I swallow hard. My eyes involuntarily drift down to the open buttons of her white shirt. I try to hide it and answer:

"Of course I have fun."

She smiles again and my eyes betray me once more, falling to her lips. I try to get up from the bed keeping distance feels much safer but she grabs my arm, throwing me off balance and making me sit down again as I look at her.

She keeps her eyes fixed on mine. When I try to pull away once more, she moves closer and climbs onto my lap. I try to make her get off me, but she places her hands on my chest and pushes me down onto the bed.
