Episode Twelve:Acquainted

As soon as Mandy entered the house, she took off her clothes and went to shower. She logged into her social media account and chatted a little with her friends before one of the maids came to call her for supper.

She went down to eat her supper which was fried rice with chicken and plantain and a little bit of salad. The dessert was a fruit cake with chocolate toppings. This was one of Mandy's favorite foods and Maxwell specially asked the maid to prepare this for her, he simply wanted to lift her mood.

When Mandy saw the food, she went to hug Lisa out of appreciation.

"Awwn, Lisa... Thanks a lot", she said, hugging Lisa tightly.

"Actually, it was Maxwell who asked me to prepare this for you"Lisa said with smiles pointing at Maxwell.

Maxwell's facial expression changed but she tried her possible best to conceal it so that Lisa wouldn't question her.

"Oh! Is that so? Thanks Maxwell." she said and took her seat to enjoy her food.

Lisa was expecting Mandy to hug Maxwell the same way she hugged her few moments back but she didn't press further or ask any questions. She went to her room and left the siblings, Maxwell and Mandy to enjoy their meal.

On hearing that it was Maxwell who asked the maid to prepare her favorite meal, she suddenly lost her appetite and her taste buds became sour.

But she didn't want the effort of the person who prepared the food to go to waste so she picked her cutlery up.

She had not taken up to six spoons when her phone rang. Maxwell was just about to start a conversation with his sister, Mandy when her ringtone,"I don't care by Ed sheeran featuring Justin bieber"interrupted him.

Mandy was surprised, she wasn't expecting any call from anyone. The people who are likely to call her are makayla and mirabell but she just finished chatting with the two of them so why would they need to call her again.

She picked her phone up and when she checked the caller, she discovered that Oliver was the one calling... She was pleasantly surprised. She didn't waste time in picking the call.

"Hey..." She said not knowing what to say, if she had known that he was going to call, she would have done some rehearsal in front of the mirror, it is like she was teleported to the stage without studying any script.

"Hey... How are you doing?. "Oliver asked from the other end, he didn't have a specific reason for calling her, he just wanted to hear her voice.

"Am good, you?."Mandy answered him quietly, using her left hand to eat.

"Good as well, I just decided to check up on you ."Oliver answered, getting more confident and free on the phone.

"Thanks for checking up on me, I really do appreciate it ."Mandy said with a smile.

"Oh, it is nothing at all. So... What are you doing at the moment? ."Oliver asked, scratching his scalp with the tip of his finger.

"Nothing really, just sitting and eating ."Mandy replied, hanging her fork in the air.

"That is nice, I hope I am not disturbing you or stopping you from eating. If I am, I am sorry. "Oliver apologized for interrupting Mandy's meal and Mandy was forced to laugh.

She didn't see anything serious with his action ... She didn't even consider Oliver's action as a crime to begin with and he was actually apologizing.

"Alright, good bye."Oliver said and hung up the phone without waiting for Mandy's reply.

Mandy was slightly disappointed that the conversation had to end earlier and she didn't hide her disappointment. She huffed and dropped her phone with a thud on the dining table.

Maxwell was glad that the conversation ended earlier but he couldn't understand the disappointed look his sister Mandy had.

Before, Mandy could take a spoon, a message entered her phone and it was from Oliver. She was going to pretend to be angry and not pick his call up but she didn't know when she reached out to her phone and checked the message. She replied to him almost immediately while Oliver sent another message and she replied again. This went on and on between them.

She was using a hand to eat and the other to press her phone, she was actually doing more pressing than eating. While all of this was going on, Maxwell was just watching Mandy with utter disbelief.

It got to a stage where the conversation got more heated and interesting. They were now quite acquainted and free with themselves, they were even teasing each other and chatting like they were old friends who grew up together.

Mandy got engrossed in the conversation and decided to abandon her food completely so that she can concentrate well and not make grammatical errors or lose focus, she wanted to keep the conversation going and would detest if the conversation were to come to an abrupt end.

At least, chatting and talking to Oliver, takes her mind off a whole lot of things,most especially the unpleasant memories.
