C19 The Veil Fell off
"Hey, you, what are you doing? I already said it wasn't on purpose. Why are you being so petty? Are you even a man?" Lo Li's face turned pale with fear as she saw Ximu Longchen's murderous expression. She desperately tried to explain.
Ximu Longchen's eyes grew even colder, and he tightened his grip, ready to strangle her. Being a martial arts expert, he could easily end her life in seconds if he wanted to.
At that moment, as Ximu Longchen's hand tightened around her neck, Lo Li struggled fiercely, causing the scarf on her face to slip off. Instantly, her scarred and terrifying face was revealed. The fresh, blood-red crosses on her forehead and cheeks left Ximu Longchen momentarily stunned.
Lo Li's heart skipped a beat, and without thinking, she hurled the heart and liver she was holding straight at Ximu Longchen. "Watch out, more bugs are coming out!" she shouted as she threw them.
Ximu Longchen reluctantly let go, needing to remove the sticky, foul-smelling organs from his face. As soon as her feet hit the ground, Lo Li turned and bolted for the door.
Feng Wuqing was a bit confused, not quite understanding what was going on, but one thing was certain: this post-mortem examiner was someone the Crown Prince wanted dead. As a trusted confidant of the Crown Prince, Feng Wuqing naturally understood his intentions. So, without much thought, he moved to block Lo Li's path.
Lo Li was in a hurry, and she flung the embroidery needle and the large bug in her other hand toward Feng Wuqing. "That bug is poisonous, get out of the way!"
Feng Wuqing heard her and instinctively dodged. He had seen that big bug crawl out of a liver with his own eyes—fat, large, and covered in strange black patterns. It was creepy enough on its own, and now hearing it was poisonous, he believed it almost instantly.
In the moment Feng Wuqing dodged, Lo Li had already dashed out of the room in a whirlwind. "You guys are unbelievable, claiming to be law enforcers yet scared of a corpse. I call you cowards, and you get upset, then you want to kill to silence me? Really?" she shouted as she ran ahead.
Unfortunately, her short legs didn’t carry her far, and she was quickly stopped by Feng Wuqing, who had chased after her. "Kid, you've got some nerve, stirring up trouble right under my nose. You really don’t know what danger is, do you?" Feng Wuqing said, laughing in exasperation.
Lo Li's face was scrunched up in distress.
"Why are we all fighting like this? I already said it was a misunderstanding. I just lost my balance for a moment."
Just as Lo Li finished speaking, the Crown Prince emerged from behind. Without a second thought, he kicked Lo Li square in the chest.
She was sent flying, crashing into a nearby tree before hitting the ground. Barely had she landed when a gust of wind swept by, and a heavy boot stomped down on her cheek.
Lo Li's body went rigid, and a chill ran through her heart. She tried to speak, but no words came out. Her mouth was filled with dirt and the overwhelming taste of blood, while sharp pains twisted through her abdomen.
"Is that you, Ming Yue?"
Feng Wuqing, who had followed, immediately grasped the Crown Prince's intent. It seemed the Prince had mistaken Lo Li for Ming Yue because of the injuries on her face.
Lo Li's mind was in chaos, her vision darkening, and her thoughts were frozen in a state of shock.
