C18 The storm breaks
The room felt like it was closing in, shadows stretching long and dark, as Amelia and Adrian faced Lena. Every muscle in Adrian’s body was taut, ready, lethal.
“You don’t know what you’re dealing with,” Lena hissed, eyes sharp, dangerous. “You think you can control her?”
Adrian stepped closer to Amelia, protective heat radiating off him. “She’s mine. Always,” he growled, voice low and feral.
Amelia felt the pull of his presence, the steady, suffocating safety of his touch. Her hands tightened around his, heart pounding in both fear and desire. “I… I’m ready,” she whispered, more to herself than anyone else.
Lena smirked, circling them like a predator. “Ready? We’ll see. The past doesn’t forgive, Amelia. And I’m not done.”
Suddenly, a movement from Lena—a swift lunge toward Amelia. But Adrian’s reflexes were faster. He intercepted her, twisting her arm in a controlled, precise motion that left her stumbling back, gasping.
Amelia’s chest heaved as Adrian pressed a finger to her lips. “Breathe,” he murmured, possessive, intense. “I’ve got you.”
She did, letting his touch ground her, calm her, and ignite a heat she couldn’t deny. Every brush of his hand, every whisper of his voice, was a fragrance that pulled her closer, that made her pulse race.
Lena recoiled slightly, realizing Adrian’s protective ferocity wasn’t just words. “You… you’re ruthless,” she said, wariness creeping in.
“Ruthless for her,” Adrian corrected, dark eyes burning. “Anyone else… dies.”
Amelia’s body trembled, not just from fear, but from the intensity of the moment—the collision of past threats and present desire. She pressed closer to him, letting the warmth, the safety, and the unspoken promise of his touch fill her.
Lena’s smirk faltered. “This isn’t over,” she warned, voice tight with suppressed fury.
Adrian’s eyes never left Amelia. “It is for tonight,” he said, possessive and final.
Amelia exhaled, pulse racing. Standing here, pressed against Adrian, she felt a surge of power and intimacy. The storm outside, the storm of the past—they could face it together.
And as Lena disappeared into the shadows, promising return, Amelia realized: the fight was far from over… but with Adrian, she could face anything.
