C20 The bold move

The night air was thick with tension, every shadow in the room feeling alive. Amelia pressed closer to Adrian, her hand entwined with his, pulse racing from fear and desire alike.

Adrian’s eyes never left the doorway, scanning, calculating, lethal. “She’s bold,” he muttered, voice low, dangerous. “Too bold for her own good.”

Amelia’s chest heaved, both from fear and the electric heat that radiated from him. His presence was overwhelming, intoxicating—the fragrance of his touch wrapping around her like armor and fire.

Suddenly, a sharp crash echoed from the balcony. Lena had made a move—bold, aggressive, daring. Adrian’s muscles tensed. “Stay behind me,” he growled.

Amelia’s fingers tightened around his. “I… I’m ready,” she whispered, heart hammering.

Adrian’s jaw set, eyes dark as storm clouds. “Ready? Good. Because I’m not letting her near you.”

In one fluid motion, he intercepted Lena before she could advance, body a barrier between Amelia and danger. The confrontation was swift, brutal, precise. Every move he made screamed protective ferocity, a warning that no one dared cross the line.

Amelia’s breath caught as she watched him—dark, commanding, completely unyielding. Her body thrummed with a mixture of fear, admiration, and a heat she couldn’t ignore.

Lena stumbled back, smirk faltering for the first time. “You… you’re relentless,” she hissed.

“Relentless for her,” Adrian corrected, eyes never leaving Amelia. “Anyone else… dies.”

Amelia’s chest rose and fell rapidly. She pressed closer to him, letting his strength, his presence, his touch—his fragrance—fill her, ground her, ignite a thrill she couldn’t resist.

Lena’s eyes flashed with fury, but she retreated, disappearing into the night with a warning. “This isn’t over,” she spat.

Adrian turned to Amelia, dark eyes softening only slightly. “Are you okay?” he asked, voice a mixture of possessiveness and care.

Amelia nodded, trembling. “I… I am. With you.”

He pulled her close, forehead resting against hers. “Good,” he murmured. “Because I’ll never let anyone hurt you. Not tonight. Not ever.”

And as the shadows of the night stretched across the walls, Amelia realized one terrifying, exhilarating truth: the storm was far from over… but with Adrian, she could face anything.

Together.
