C1

The broken window did not even have anything to plug it with, and the paper that was stuck there to block the wind was what she and her mother had created together on New Year's Day two years ago. Now, it could no longer block any sort of wind, so as the window glass swayed weakly under the cold wind, it crouched down to the gradually rising moonlight.

Qin Fu Gen was hanging out with Widow Song again today, and the two of them were having fun in the main house. Qin Sanniu, like usual, was rushed to this woodshed for the night. She skillfully pulled some straw from a pile of rats that were on one side. This caused quite a few rats to scurry around, but after a few twists and turns, she managed to block the hole in the window, preventing the cold wind from blowing outside.

Qin Sanniu pulled up her sleeve that had a hole in it and leaned on it with her thin and weak body. She forced herself to find a comfortable spot on the pile of straw beside her before closing her eyes and dozing off for the rest of the night.

The sky was still dark and the bright moonlight had disappeared without a trace. Only a tiny ray of the sun could be seen through the thin layer of clouds. The roosters that had been crying for the whole night in the village were eager to give it a try. Qin Sanniu sat up and rubbed her cold hands together before standing up.

The woodshed had a small cubicle that was used as a kitchen. Qin Sanniu's hands ignited a fire, waiting for the flames to burn. Only after it had flared up and the fire heated for a while, was she able to gradually recover from the numbness.

It was a new day.

Qin Sanniu set up two large firewood and let the fire burn slowly. She then took out two eggs from the chicken coop and placed one into her pocket. She washed the other one and threw it into the pot.

She saved one egg a day, sold it once a month, and saved thirty cents. Unlike her mother, who would secretly store this money for her in case of an emergency, Qin Sanniu always knew to leave a way out for herself.

Qin Zifu was thirty-six years old, and he could be said to be good-looking, and skilled. He could live a good life, but he had a lazy personality, and after his only wife's death, he did not look forward to finding a proper woman to take care of them. Instead, he spent his days in bed with some filthy women. It was fortunate that Qin Sanniu was able to follow her mother since childhood and was both capable and sensible. Otherwise, if her days were even more difficult, she might not even be able to maintain her current life.

Widow Song and Qin Fu Gen had spent the night together, and now that she had combed her hair, she stood unsteadily in front of the door. The top two buttons on her chest were loose, and if one looked down, they would be able to see the radiance of spring inside. Even if she didn't say anything, she could still reveal her foxiness. This coquettish scene tricked countless men in the village into going to her bed.

She gathered up her neatly combed hair and called loudly in the direction of the smoking stove in the chimney, "Is breakfast ready, girl?"

Qin Sanniu stood in the kitchen with a solemn face. Not only did she not reply, she even shut the kitchen door with a kick, and threw Widow Song's face on the spot.

"Heh, this girl is rebelling against the heavens," Widow Song raised her eyebrows and knocked on the door behind her, "Qin Fugen! Qin Fugen, don't sleep anymore. Come out and take care of your own daughter! For such a young age to flirt with her, no one would dare to marry her! "
