C11 The Necklace

Freya’s Pov

I was back at home in the pack house. Just as I walked in, Artemis followed immediately after me. His steps were fastened, they abruptly came to halt at my presence.

“Freya,” he called and I moved to him.

He pulled me for a hug and I blushed. My hands came up behind his broad back and went around him.

“You’ve missed me,” he stated in a matter of fact tone.

What a cocky wolf, like he didn’t miss me also.

I tilted my face up and peeped at him through my lashes, “well I did and I’m not afraid to own it like some people,” referring to him.

He smirked, “who said I didn’t miss you,” I blushed and hid my face in shame. His direct compliment always took me off guard.

“How was shopping?” He asked, letting free from his grasp but not completely only so that he could look at my face.

“It was awesome, I enjoyed it. But I did not get everything, I was planning on doing that later,” I left out the part where Racheal panicked and where I also thought that I might be followed.

“So…,” I pulled away reluctantly. He arched his eyebrows at me.

“I have to arrange my room,” he was about to grumble when I rushed and said, “I will come to your room…or you can come to mine. No, you know what? You should come. I’m inviting you,” I did like I was handing him a card of invitation.

He smirked. That’s how much reaction I could get from him.

“I wasn’t aware that you were this bubbly,” he told me. I smiled, slash blushed, skipping away from him. When I got to the stairs. I pushed my head backwards to him. “Don’t be late!” And ran up.

I heard something like ‘what’s the time?’ But I was already long gone.

With trepidation I lingered at the front of my room door. Still digesting the fact that I was going to have my own room. A room that belonged to me. It was still in fact hard to believe and every time felt even more like a dream. Every time the thought of a dream came I did something I learnt. I would pinch myself to see if it was in fact a dream and every time I didn’t wake up.

My hand trembling held the door knob and I pushed it open. The two large metal doors. The room was dimly lit. Effects of the approaching twilight. As dusk set to possess the sky, the night sky had beautiful scenery.

Pushing the windows open, the sweet soft air from outside made their way into the room in an angelic and tender way. Fanning my skin and blowing away the worries of the day.

The shopping bags are set on the floor and together they form an unintentional circle.

There’s a low knock on the door followed by a calm voice. Racheal’s.

Opening the door I saw two girls just about her height posited by her side. My brows raised in an inquisitive manner and she rolled her eyes.

“We are here to help you unpack and arrange your things. Apparently someone thinks you can’t do it by yourself,” she entered while the other girls bowed and walked in behind her.

With their help we began arranging the stuff. Before now I hadn’t had a skincare product, but the women in the store recommended a good product that’ll make me glow. In her words not mine. They are arranged in order of use in the bathroom sink, close to the mirror on the wall.

My clothes are brought on hangers. A flower vessel is placed close to the window. A long length standing mirror by the side and the clothes are organised in the closet.

Not too long we were done for the meantime. The girls excused themselves out of the room.

“Be wary of some of the maids here. They use to be Artemis fuck things.”

“What?!”

Typical Racheal rolled her eyes. “They are all sheeps in wolf form. Don’t give them a reason to belittle you. One in particular had been promoted; she was labelled his favourite toy among the maids and they hate her guts.” As Racheal explained, my foolishness was more opulent. I was so stupid. To think she was an enemy.

“And what about you? What’s your history with him,” the question that had been prodding at the back of my mind. I didn’t want to but one could never be too sure.

“I used to be his favorite fuck thing,” she blurted out.

My jaw dropped and my eyes went wide in shock.

She shook her head. “You need to catch on to my use of sarcasm. I was just a slave he picked,” she told me. My mouth was open, about to talk when she cut in.

“Yes. Before it fades from my mind, you should be having your bath. Artemis said he would be coming soon.”

“I want to hear everything,” I practically begged. She chuckled lightly.

“I could gist from the outside, go shower.”

My clothes began to go over my head when she voiced out a question.

“How did you get that necklace?” She asked, referring to the necklace on my neck. There was an underlying tone to her question. I didn’t pay much thought to it. I instead held the necklace in my hand intertwining it between my fingers.

It was the only thing I got from my original pack that I couldn’t quite remember. The memories were hazy but the necklace was the centre of it all. It helped me remember.

“I don’t know. Just that I had always had it. It’s the only thing from my pack,” staring at it I told her.

“I should go have a bath, Artemis would soon be here,” she didn't say anything, just stared weirdly at the necklace.

The bathroom smells nice and soothing. I turned on the hot water and got into the bathtub. Taking my strawberry conditioner I applied it on my hair and rubbed my face glow product.

I took a long time in the bathroom and by the time I got out, I thought that Racheal would be gone but she sat at the corner of my bed. My white towel is draped over my body and I walked to the closet not before Racheal threw a compliment my way.

“You smell appetising,” she had told me and I was blushing like a fool. My face was red like a tomato.

I picked out a sexy night gown and threw it on. Wore my new set of matching undies. The hair dryer was picked up and used to dry my hair, after I did that. I did my hair in a dirty bun. Some cologne was applied and just like before I pinched myself again. This wasn’t a dream.

‘This wasn’t a dream,’ I laughed lightly. ‘This was fucking real!’

Just as quickly as my joy came it deflated away like a balloon. when I stared at the mirror and remembered that creepy vibe of being watched. And at that instant I wondered if I was being snatched from one nightmare to another. As much as it was appealing I had a feeling this might be worse.

I remembered Racheal telling me about the maids. Artemis' favourite girl and her tone that sounded accusing when she asked me about that necklace.

Leaving the closet, I stood inclined to the closet door, peeping at Racheal.

“How did you know of this necklace?” I asked her.

“What?”

“The necklace, you sounded like you knew it from somewhere,” I pointed out to her.

She looked at me perplexed and at that instant the to my room flew open to Artemis in the view. He looked at her and she looked at me.
