C13 Loretta

Artemis Pov

Walking out of the room, I felt a pang in my chest as I left her. My wolf didn’t want to leave her, hell! We didn’t want to leave her. To hold her close to me all day was what I yearned for but I was getting too attached. This wasn’t good for me. I had to retract a little while.

My beta stood outside. He bowed when he saw me. “Alpha…”

Neither he nor I got the chance to say what the order had in mind before we heard a shrieking voice. There was a knowing fear that settled at the depth of my mind. It shouldn’t be who I think it—-

I didn't get to complete my wish when she came dashing out from her usual red outfit. Her heel clicking on the tiles with every step she took.

“Loretta,” I called, “how many time have I t—“

“Oh Artemis,” she sang, “I’ve missed you,” she threw her arms over my neck in a swift motion before she completed her words and it was at that instant that Freya opened the door.

It seemed as though the moon goddess was out to get me, to make me pay for all my sins. She was set to punish me, because the timing was very well perfect to destroy me.

I saw the moment her face fell, the flick second when she had disappointment on her face.

Freya didn’t do well with surprises because the instant she saw us, she stood perplexed, still trying to figure out what was happening. She was heartbroken and sad.

As if my senses returned to me, I pushed Loretta away.

I had to explain, soon, immediately. I had to make her believe that what she saw wasn’t what she was thinking.

Now that her mind was still feeble, this was my chance to manipulate her and make her believe me to discard every form of doubt in her heart.

“Fay?“ I called by her nickname, “it’s not what you think, she’s just an old friend,” I tried to explain but her demeanour was vague and I could not easily read her mind. ‘Oh I wished I had marked her, that way I could know what she was thinking. It was harder this way, not knowing what she was thinking.’

“Come on now Artemis, she doesn’t deserve your explanation. Who is this bitch anyway?” Loretta easily showed her claws. She was a bitch and she could hire herself to be a full time bitch.

But she had to watch her mouth, that was her future Luna, if everything goes well. That is if the moon goddess didn't sabotage my life completely before it even got a chance to begin.

“Zip your mouth this instant Loretta,” I commanded. From the look on her face I knew that would not shut her up.

She chuckled, “but you use to love it when it was open right in front—-“

“Loretta!” I barked and she instantly knew that I wasn’t kidding around anymore.

Turning to Freya she wore a masked face. That didn’t mean well. “Freya…”

“It’s no problem. I was just going down to get Racheal. I’ll see you later,” she said and walked past me. She took the elevator instead of the stairs down. Her gaze not once faltered from mine.

“Now that she’s gone,” Loretta exhaled out, she walked towards me, “where was I?” She asked no one in particular.

She couldn’t see that I was a raging mess, narcissistic wolf. I was narcissistic no doubt but Loretta was completely blind and oblivious to other people, I on the other hand acknowledged their plight but did nothing because I revelled in their plight.

“Ahaha!” She squealed probably remembering the rubbish she wanted to spill, “I came to see you and——“

“Shut your mouth Loretta and don’t touch me!”

She was taken back by the intensity of my voice. “Art—“

“What are you doing here anyway?” My voice was stern as I spoke to her. While waiting for her reply I turned to my beta, Iris.

“Take me to the visitor that was searching for me. What’s his name?” I asked, wondering who it could be.

“Alpha. She’s the visitor,” he said looking towards Loretta who was twirling her hair in between her fingers.

Looking at her, I demanded an answer as to why she was here. She smiled, “I came to check on my favourite person.”

“Get over yourself Loretta. I assume you would soon leave, for the meantime stay in the guest room,” I said to her as I walked past her with my beta.

“Alpha! Alpha! Where are you going?” She yelled as I left. I turned deaf ears as I approached the elevator.

Turning to my beta I shut him a cold stare. “Never repeat what transpired today, ever.” He nodded and muttered a firm, “yes alpha!”

“You’re becoming more and more incompetent. You seem to be forgetting your place and duty.” I paused, “you actually came to disturb me because of Loretta?!” I asked incredulously.

“I apologize alpha.”

“You’ll be more sorry when Freya acts indifferent to my apology later,” I told him. The elevator chimed open and I was heading down before a call came through.

Iris picked sounding professional as he was on the line. As I was waiting for his reply, I inspected him closely trying to read what the other person was telling him from the other end.

His face suddenly went rigid and cold. His knuckles turned white as he fisted his palm. Now I was even more eager to hear what was happening.

The call ended when he muttered, “we’ll be down in a short while,” and hung up.

“Alpha, the company. The potential customers that we’ve been losing? We’ve got a trail on who’s responsible,” he told me.

For the recent years we had been getting backlash from the internet and we didn’t know why. We were slandered which dropped our revenue stock, now that we are aware of the prick behind it. He will regret it. He would wish he never breathed the first air he took when he first arrived in this world. His death would be painful and slow.

“Let’s get there,” walking back into the elevator. Iris scurried behind. “Alpha what are you going to do about Freya,” he asked.

“I’ll get back to her after I deal with this and let’s hope she looks past Loretta or you’ll be in trouble.”

“Yes alpha.”
