C21 Training grounds
Freya’s Pov
I saw girls my age, some older rounding the open fields. They were racing and they appeared very fast, each trying to take down the other. It was a large open field with tracks. They all had on their training gears.
At the sight of Artemis they seemed to forget and shouted, “Artemis.”
Well I didn’t know he was social with his pack girls this way or were they all his f*ck mate in the past. Probably the latter because some girls still appeared focused with what they were doing.
We trailed further into the field. As we were about to enter, a girl walked up to me. She had blonde hair and hazel eyes. Her steps were agile as she matched towards us. She looked like she commanded this territory. The ironic thing was her strides did not match her figure. She was rather on the petite side, her hair packed in a perfect ponytail flying behind her as the wind blew.
She reached us and smiled. Oh, she's friendly.
“Hello Artemis,” she greeted and ignored the rest of us like we weren’t standing there. Was I too quick to judge? I thought.
“Merona,” Artemis acknowledged.
“Is she the mate of yours that I’ve been hearing of?” She asked like she didn’t see me. She was being disrespectful and she wanted me to know.
“Oh yeah she is,” Loretta said from nowhere. The Merona of a girl just took one last glance at Loretta and continued to ask, “what brings you here anyway?” The question was directed to none other than Artemis. Loretta scoffed and gave her an eye roll.
“You see, here is the fight for a man that isn’t theirs,” Racheal whispered in my ears and we both laughed.
“She wants to train,” Artemis said nonchalantly, pulling me close to him.
Merona laughed. When she saw that Artemis wasn’t joking, “oh no, you’re serious.”
What did this werewolf take me for? They were all mean and so far the only nice person I had met was Racheal. This pack was the lion’s den.
“Get her outfit ready,” he said to Merona. Then to me he said, “follow me.”
We walked back into what I described as the changing room for the trainers. It was a large grey room with lockers all painted with grey. We walked to the opposite door that stood where we came in from. Two large wooden doors stood strong. Artemis pushed it open, then went on to hold it for me to walk in. While in he followed in consecutively.
The room left me in complete awe. It was grand. Holding in itself, big large bulky equipment for walking out. It was a gym twice as big as my room, if not thrice. My heavens.
“I’ve got the outfit,” we both turned to see Merona. The gym room had multiple entrances and exits. When she got to where we stood, she handed the outfit to me. She did that without sparing me a glance.
“It was a small size but I’m sure it’ll do,” she ran a quick look at me and went on to say, “she’s on the smaller size so it will fit just fine.”
I eyed back my wolf who wanted to snare at her. She was also petite hadn’t she seen herself.
“Take her to the female changing room,” Artemis ordered.
I wanted to tell her not to bother, but it would be foolish of me because I didn’t know my way around here and so far she didn’t seem like the kind that would dash towards her victim. I’d like to think she was more on the slow-poison type. Kill slowly without haste.
Looking at her face she didn’t let out any facial expression. She was stoic and muttered a wattaged “yes.”
“Follow me,” she said to me. I obliged and did as I was told. Even through our walk to the changing room no words were muttered. The atmosphere was thick and laced with ice freezing out every word.
We returned a few moments later. The tight gym bralette and pants were stuck to my body. Quite a fight I had put on wiggling my way in, it was quite small.
Artemis let out a sound, which commanded us to both turn and stare at him. His eyes were black as he took in my figure.
“Come to me,” he ordered, his voice deep and controlled. Jade purred within me.
‘Make a turn for him,’ she suggested.
‘No I don’t want to aid his perverse emotions,’ she rolled her eyes at my words.
Reaching his side he pulled me closer. A small smile slipped my mouth, when I turned—-it was then I saw Merona let emotion slip. She grimaced as she took us in.
We walked back into the field. With my hands I brushed my hair back removing it from my line of vision. We heard a whistle in unison and I turned to look around to find out what it was for. At last minute, I heard Artemis growl by my side pulling me close and all the whistle silenced.
It was then it dawned on me what they were for. I didn’t want to brag but I particularly felt sexy in this. My stomach was bare and the tight hugged on my skin like it was a second layer of the skin. My curves were on the open. I’ve seen myself in the mirror multiple times, I’m what people would likely describe as ‘slim thick.’
Artemis sent forth his hand to me, I took it and followed him into the open field. Loretta was already stretching out. Merona was arranging herself like she was going into an Olympic competition, she swung her hair and packed it up nicely. The ponytail swinging behind her. Some girls did the same thing.
Jade immediately popped out from her flirtatious form. She was on the competitive side and so was I. Cracking my neck I stretched out too. It’s been a long time since I did this or I had never. My strength and speed was unknown to me, but I was sure of one thing, persistence. I had a high rate of endurance skills. Anyone that stayed with the Rexes would develop one of those.
It was a race. I figured it was first to check out the speed and endurance limit. As much as I wouldn’t have a problem with the endurance limit—-coming last was the last thing I wanted.
“Don’t push yourself too much. Slow and steady. Avoid crowds, they may push you down, and lastly don’t start off fast,” Artemis said to me. He sent one last look my way and strolled into the crowd of people.
‘I couldn’t let him down with this crowd of people. They would all judge how weak I am from this.” My poker face was on.
Jade hissed, ‘We can’t let ourselves down in front of these people. I love mate but not for him, for us.’
“You’re going to round the field three times!” A voice announced.
‘Jade,’ I called.
‘I’m here,’ she answered with full agility.
“There are no rules to this.”
“It’s simple, just win, come out first five,” he announced again.
“When you hear the whistle, you sprint,” it felt like a pause and as though he was observing each and every one of us.
“It’s not too late to step out now sweetheart,” I heard. Turning I saw Loretta smirking. Of course she would be petty. It was at last minute I took in her red outfit. Red must really be her favorite colour——-
The whistle goes off and everyone is sprinting at full speed. I remembered Artemis' words. ‘Slow and steady,’ but Jade tipped in, ‘no start off strong.’
I was running, my speed was slow and I was coming in last.
‘Are you sure?”
‘Trust me,’
‘We have three rounds,’ I let her know.
‘I’m fully aware.’ She snapped.
‘If we go slow and still in the first round while others are in second we’re going to come in last but if we use speed from the start we’ll get to second level and then at that we can slow our pace and regain a little fuel to complete it. Now when we get to the third we speed up again. That’s how we win this,” Jade explained.
‘I like that.”
She rolled her eyes, ‘now run or you’ll be at full speed till the end and I doubt we have enough strength for that.”
I took off running like my life depended on this. My life sort of did, my reputation and gossip that would be flying down these halls would be about me and I wouldn’t be able to shut them out. So I ran. While running something caught my eyes in the forest of trees. A figure dressed in black.
The feeling that wrapped me was familiar and it was one that started since I got here, my stalker. I ran even more. What if he joined the race and stabbed me then. With adrenaline pulsing through my veins I quickened my steps, in the process I forsook one of Artemis principles—- ‘avoid the crowd.’
The next thing I knew I was flying in the air coming in contact with the field harshly. Loretta smirked at me and continued. Bitch.
Standing up, I looked back—-the next group of girls were coming and the figure in black was in the midst. A smirk played on his lips as I made eye contact with him.
A small place opened and I saw his hand in his pocket. He could be holding a knife.
RUN.
And I’m sprinting and so was he.
He was getting dangerously close and a part of me told me to run into the forest.
‘Don’t you dare,’ that was Jade
I ran like my life depended on it. Technically my life did. When I spotted Merona. She was at the front. This fueled my anger and gave me nitro. I wanted to defeat her. Running I came close to some set of girls. They all bare their teeth at me.
“You’re not fit to be our Luna,” they snickered
“How about you shut up and run,” I didn’t know where my new found energy came from but my battery had run low on all the talk down.
Cheers were heard as people started clapping and shouting, Merona had finished, next to her was another girl.
NO.
My wolf pushed even faster and I’m running like a speed boat. I heard a single cheer, it was shrieking. I had crossed also. And the cheer came from none other than Racheal.
Falling flat on the ground, I tried to catch my breath. It was after that I saw Loretta had already crossed. I came in fifth whereas she came in fourth.
Looking towards Artemis I saw him wearing a proud look but I was far from proud. His two f*ck mates were whom I wanted to defeat. I guess we have to try again another day.
Someone ran into the forest then I remembered my stalker. Without thought I stood up and started walking into the forest where he had trodden into.
