C33 A date with my mate

Artemis Pov

She smiled and giggled while talking. Anyone could tell she enjoyed talking about it. Talking about little things, she loved little talks. Those were the things that got her blood rushing, those were the things that broke her dam. Her veins pulsated as she jabbed away.

“So who would you say is your favourite artist?” I asked her. Tilting her head, she brought the fries to her mouth tentatively.

“I’m only speaking from current music taste,” she assured me, to let me know that she could always change her mind.

“Okay,” I said, getting her message loud and clear.

“I love BANNERS, his music resonates deep inside of me and I really really love love love his music,” she said, even as she spoke I could see the excitement and glee at which she spoke about him. The fact that he was a male made me jealous and on a normal day I would have growled from jealousy and gotten all dominant but today was about her, about this angel in front of me.

Her eyes, they twinkled with delight, they brought the spark and the fire and although we weren’t touching hands, I felt the spark cross over to me. They were contagious and infectious.

I found myself smiling. The load on my chest was gone. I felt light and happy. I loved myself better when I was with her.

The place was rented by me and I made sure no one was allowed in here, this was our day, it was just for us. The restaurant was decorated with black and some of her favourite colours. The lights were dim, giving off night and soft aura.

“You know what?” I suddenly said.

“What?” She asked cutely, I smiled at her and as if on a cue she widened her smile, “you just wait,” I told her.

“Excuse me!” I called the staff. A man in his late forties approached us, he was human. Arriving by our table, Freya was smiling and chortling, still asking me what I wanted to do.

I beckoned the staff to crouch, he did and I whispered into his ears. He smiled and walked off. Turning to Freya, she eyed me trying to decrypt what I could have possibly told the staff to do.

“Come tell me, what’s your plan,” she beckoned. I smiled and shook my head negatively at her question.

“I’m not telling,” I teased her.

“Common, I don’t take surprises well,” she pleaded.

“Well, you’re going to have to——“

“Oh my gosh! Wait! Is that?!” She squealed while I smiled.

“Shut uppp, shut up..” her words got tied in her throat as she listened to the song picking up its velocity.

She gave me a look of you did not just ask them to play BANNERS on the speaker

And I nodded that I just did.

She sang along word by word. She was smiling and then her voice began cracking and her eyes glistened with tears.

“Oh no what’s wrong?” I asked, panicking. I began standing up but she sent forth her hand in a stop manner and said, “I’m just so happy,” she said, she was smiling while tears were pouring from her eyes.

Her hand brushed her hair back, she looked up at the roof then at me and chuckled in disbelief.

“So tell me what’s your favourite thing in this world?” She asked me. A moment back I would have said my pack, but right now, under this atmosphere, under her gaze? There was none as her.

“You,” I said in a whispered tone. She looked up at me, “common be serious Artemis. I’m not even going to be angry if I wasn't. I'd be glad to be in the list,” she told me, persuading me to speak my mind but I just spoke my mind.

“It’s you Freya, you’re my favourite thing and person on this planet,” I insisted. She brought her fingers to her lips and chortled, “it’s you from the moment I laid my eyes on you, it’s always been you.”

Her face flushed and went red. She held her head in her hand.

“You can’t do this to me, how would I look you in the face if I lost to Merona,” she said, faking anger.

“What’s your favourite colour?” She asked.

“G—-“ she interrupted me

“Oh wait! I know, gold,” she said and I smiled. It was very obvious seeing how I used gold on everything.

“Is it really that obvious?” I inquired laughingly.

“Oh yes, the first time I met you, do you know what my first thought of you was?”

“No,” I answered, wanting her to talk more.

“I was like, is this guy obsessed with gold, what’s the obsessive need to put it everywhere, then I saw you pull out a gold handkerchief and your pouch was coated in gold and I was like. Aha! Gold must really be his colour,” she explained enthusiastically about her first encounter with me. I couldn’t hold back the laughter that erupted from my chest.

Her jaw dropped, her mouth ajar and her eyes bulged.

“What?”

“This was the first time I ever saw you laughing,” she pointed out, “the very first fucking time, now I understand why you don’t smile often, please don’t ever if you do every fucking would fall for you. With that laughter someone would actually leave me and flirt with you,” all her words were rushed and fast.

It was nice seeing her this free spirited and jovial. She stood up abruptly and walked to me. She sent forth her hand and I stared at it skeptically.

“Take my hands Artemis,” she said. That name from her mouth buckled my knees and rendered every self will to her.

Touching her opened inviting palm I felt the sparks spread up to my body. She pulled me out. Her hand found mine and brought it down to rest on her waist. Hers came up and wrapped around my neck.

“Let’s dance,” she said and I instantly took the lead. She gasped when I pulled her closer to my body.

“I want to feel your body against mine,” I said to her, her face went scarlet as she hid her face in my chest. Maybe if I brought her so close to me her goodness may slip into me and I could be better for her.

The light went off, darkness enveloped us then in a split second, blue, red and green light went on.

I moved and she followed.

“Which song is playing?” I asked her as I didn’t know and I was really enjoying his masterpiece.

Her face buried in my chest, she spoke, “Holy Ground by BANNERS,” her voice vibrating in my chest.

“Wow, you truly were a fan,” I said, amazed.

She only chuckled and we stayed like that for a while swaying gradually under the soft light. I led her to spin and made her back to be pressed against my front. My arms were wrapped in front of her and hers were wrapped on mine as she rested her head on my shoulder and tilted my head to slightly rest on hers.

She said something like, “I hope this moment will be more.” At least that’s what I heard her say.

“I hope so,” I concurred, deeply wishing for it more than she did.

We were headed home, our hands intertwined amongst one another. BANNERS playing from the car. She stared out to the window while all of my being was focused on her. I didn’t want to leave. This space, this atmosphere, I didn’t want to leave this part of me and I never wanted to leave Freya.

Please moon goddess I’m happy now, please don’t take this away. Don’t punish me now.

The drive home was quick and fast paced. Good times never last, I knew that.

We were already in the pack house, she smiled and held onto me not wanting to let go, I didn’t want to either but good things were fragile, happiness was short lived.

“Alpha,” Oslo called walking to me.

Freya let go but I drew her back and planted a kiss on her lips which she returned without hesitation.

Losing her touch made me let out a growl. I snapped at Oslo who was looking shockingly at me.

“What!” I said bittered.

“Ajax,” he simply said.

“Let’s go,” I said sharply.

“Yes alpha.”

“What are we going to do to him?” He asked while we were in the elevator.

“Do we still go on with the plan of killing him?” He inquired.

I thought back to it, did I want to go through with that plan? I thought back to Freya. What would she think of me?

“Yes we’re going through with it,” I confirmed.
