C37 Jealous Freya

Freya's pov

Those buttons by the elevator, they drew me in, they magnetized me. Tugged at me, itched on me to find out where they led, what secret they hid. I was curious, they were fascinating and anything that was fascinating usually held, big, abstruse secrets.

As much as it tugged my heart, to follow my desire to discover the secrets within those buttons, where they could take me to, my mind said a different thing. My logical side said to keep off. There was a benefit of ignorance, only when discovered, you'd wish you hadn't. So for now it was safer to bask in my ignorance regarding this fascinating buttons, just for now.

I walked out of the elevator. Outside I spotted Merona with Racheal. She was speaking with Merona, I could not quite make out the words because they were far, but she laughed, gleefully, then went on to hit Merona by the arm. She was enjoying conversing with her. She seemed to be enjoying her company, since when were they both best friends.

Suddenly a lump formed in my chest, it made my chest grow tight and I felt a pang. What was happening? That wasn't all, when Merona turned and made eye contact with me, I quickly ducked and hid myself. I didn't know why I did it, but I didn't want Racheal to see me and cause another issue again.

This was one of those moments where ignorance was again of benefit. Merona saw me, she didn't stop her chatter with Racheal, if I wasn't being paranoid, I would say she was doing so purposely to rub it on my face that she had successfully achieved my friend, to spike me. Because why would she suddenly reach out to her and caress her face.

Throwing my hair back, I did a little respiration prep talk. I inhaled and exhaled, gathering courage.

I came here for Racheal, she was my friend first and I won't let that smart ass beautiful girl take her from me. Racheal is my friend, there is nothing wrong in calling her out.

Those were what I said to myself as I started walking towards the door that led outside. Outside to where she and Merona stood. That girl was a snake, she was getting entangled with every single person I befriend, why couldn't she pick Loretta, they have more things in common, for example, smart mouth and bitchy attitude. There was nothing wrong in what I was about to do, I only just need my friend.

Or you are just a jealous psycho that had lost her friend.

That was my conscience. Sometimes I wondered if my conscience was on my side or on strangers side, it felt like the latter. Because it was always putting others first before me. And I didn't loose my friend, we are still friends.

When last did you guys spend time together? Came a voice in my head.

It doesn't matter, we are still close, I retorted, trying to assure myself.

Just say your goodbyes to her, it only a matter of time before Merona colonizes her and she no longer speaks to you, the voice in my head said.

“Argh…” Merona said in irritation. Prior to her action, Racheal turned and saw me. I let out a smile and Racheal pinched Merona by the hand.

“What??” Merona asked like a child. Racheal raised an eyebrow at her, that said ‘really.’

“She started it,” Merona cried out.

I was suddenly taken back, “mee?” I asked in bewilderment, “when did I start anything, I basically just got here,” I said, equally as a baby. She didn't get to play the victim card and throw me under the bus. I didn't care how much petty it may seem, I was going to be as petty as….. As possible. Yes.

Racheal looked to both of us and blew raspberry. She was tired. All because of this Fox, why did we have similar taste in people, first my mate and now my friend. What the hell!

“Okay, what do you want?” Merona asked pissed.

“I didn't come here for you, so you might as well excuse us,” I said, my voice matching hers.

She laughed dryly, “I should leave? Very funny, because if anyone is to leave, it should be you, if you didn't know we were in the middle of a very important discussion and you're interrupting,” she retorted.

“Well you can tell her all you want to say later, you have spent enough time with her and your time is up!” I spat on her face.

She snickered and marched forward, “she is not yours, you don't get to pull her away anytime you wish. She has a mind of her own,” she bit back.

“I'm glad you said that, because, now you can let her go right?” I asked her with a smirk.

“Let her go? I'll be foolish, she is mine.”

“Yours?” it was my turn to laugh, “I met her first, she's obviously mine.”

“You, greedy bitch, you have a mate and yet you still drag for her, how selfish can you get!! She barked, her Wolf coming on edge,

“She is mine, I met her first__”

“She is not yours, you don't get to claim people as yours,” she cut me off.

“Why not!” I barked, matching her velocity.

“Because —-”

“That's enough! Both of you!” Racheal shouted cutting us of.

She looked at us, “I'm no ones property.”

Merona was angry, her breathing ragged as she tried to balance her thoughts.

What is up with her? It's as if Racheal is her mate or something.

“Merona—-” Racheal began, but she was cut off, “if you are going to say anything, it should be to her or both of us,” she said sharply, it wasn't directed at Racheal but to me. She seared.

“What do you need Freya?” Racheal asked me.

I was about to answer before Merona beat me to it, “off course she always needs something, you should have brought your Daddy along, as a baby that you are.”

“What the hell! Keep my father from that mouth of yours,” I said angrily.

“There! That's the rage I've been looking for, keep it with you for the battle, because you are going to need it,” she said and walked of.

“Merona!!” Racheal called but she didn't answer.

Racheal turned to me, as I saw the broken look on her face, I suddenly felt guilty.

“What do you need Frey?” she asked with cheer that was nothing but fake.

“I want to see the library,” I said lowly.

“Oh,” her voice dropped even more.

“This way then,” she said.

“What sort of book are you on the lookout for?” she inquired.

“Umm, I don't know, what type do they have there?” I asked, trying to make a conversation.

“Let me see…” she closed her eyes and tried to recall the books she had read in the library.

“Aha! We have romance, mystery, thriller. Oh! I just love books,” she squealed, “who's your favorite author? I love Jane Austen. I love EMMA, her books…. ,”

“What are you planning on reading?” she asked cheerfully, the Racheal I knew was back, I smiled.

“I want to learn about the pack, so those types of book, are they available?”

Her face suddenly turned sour, “ewww, argh, I should have known,” she said and I chuckled.

I wanted to learn about the pack. The sooner the better.
