C42 A fight with Rachel
Freya’s pov
I had a cucumber, whittled, and placed over my eyes. A soft hand went to work on my back, massaging and untying all the knots in my muscle. I moaned in ecstasy, this was really a beauty treatment. Pear was smeared over my face.
This section was mainly for natural beauty treatment. All natural products were used, no artificial. Honey was spewed into my bath. I stayed in the honey water for close to thirty minutes. A timer was set. After that, I was helped out by the maids, still drenched in the honey water, fresh water was arranged, and rose petals were thrown in.
I was guided into the bathtub filled with rose petals. For thirty minutes, I stayed in, letting my pores absorb the nutrients that the rose gave up. Poor rose was withering away to make me beautiful.
The timer by my side went off, a towel was instantly held out by two maids as the others supported my weight, and helped me out. The White towel was wrapped around me. After I was dry, they set out and were engaged with my hair.
I tried to keep it out, but Artemis' actions were odd. I couldn't quite place a finger on it but I——
Nothing, focus on mending things with Racheal. My conscience snapped at me.
‘Finally, someone to quiet you,’ Jade supported.
‘It’s not abo——-”
‘So you don't trust mate?’ Jade asked harshly.
‘It’s not that l——”
‘Do you or do you not?’ she asked to cut me off.
‘I do,’ I answered, tamed.
‘There,’ she said and retreated. Selfish bitch.
‘You know I can hear you right?’ she told me, grinning.
‘Only the truth I spoke,’ I said.
‘I guess that makes two of us,’ she said with a cocky expression. So fu-cking proud.
‘We have to make it up to Rachael, she's angry with us,’ I stated.
‘Speak for yourself, I'm not the one that neglected her and went off to make friends with the enemy,’ Jade hissed.
The maids brought out nail polish, ready to design my toenail and fingers. I tilted my leg and held up my hand in a stop manner.
‘We are Luna, we aren't meant to discriminate, and lie that you didn't feel bad for her, plus she's not the enemy,’ I said. Jade rolled her eyes.
“Oh she is, she tried to take our mate,’ she reminded me.
‘Her father made her do it, she didn't want to,’ I opposed.
‘Father or not, she tried to take our——’
I tuned Jade out and refocused on the maids who were crouched down by my knees, waiting for me to explain why I didn't want them to polish my nails.
“Don't worry, I'll be fighting next tomorrow, there's no need for that,” I told them. I’d just be a waste.
“But ma'am, we were asked to do this,” they insisted.
“I'm going to be fighting, now do you really see a need for that?” I asked with a raised brow.
“But Luna——”
“Ahahah, Luna, you say? Why won't you listen to me then?” I asked quizzically.
The maids looked amongst themselves, fidgeting and picking on their nails, “Luna we could get in trouble if we go against the orders,” one of them spoke up.
“By who?” I asked angrily.
“The court,” they answered in unison.
“What cou—-,” I halted on my words, the court? They were here? Artemis didn't say anything. I see, I wasn't the only one hiding things.
I stood to my feet gently, “you are not doing my nails. Tell them I said that,” I commanded.
Those damn foxes! What was their plan? To have me made up only to lose? I scoffed. I would show them exactly what I'm made of.
“Leave!” I commanded, glaring at them.
They scurried like rodents and exited the room. How dare those pests! What were they thinking? That I was going to fail.
You just wait, I'll show you why am Demitri’s daughter
For the meantime, I was going to confront Artemis, demanding why he hid such from me. Angrily I took off the towel that clasped over me and threw it on the stand. I was slipping on my dress, my back to the door when the door creaked open.
Angry, I spun to see who dared defer my order. I stopped and my anger evaporated through the window.
“Rachael,” I breathed out.
She smirked and strutted in. “I see you are managing just fine without me.”
“Rachael…. I'm not, I mean I've been okay and I've not seen you for ages,” I said and walked closer to her. Excited to see her. Something was off. She didn't sit, she didn't look like her bubbly self, and she wasn't cheerful and happy. Instead, she was gloomy and there seemed to be a dark cloud hovering over her. Waiting to unleash the thickest rain from the cloud.
“I wonder why? I guess you were too busy making friends with the enemy,” she raised her voice.
‘I told you you made friends with the enemy,’ Jade chimed in.
Dismissing Jade, I turned to Racheal as she circled my room.
“Loretta is not an enemy and she was in a tight spot,” I explained, “I know we thought that Loretta was bad but she had a reason why she did what she did,” I explained further.
She sneered, “Of course, everyone has a reason for doing what they do, who doesn't? even Artemis does,” Her voice was really harsh, burning like acid.
“She needed me, Rachel, I couldn't look past that,” I said, reaching out to her. I tried to touch her, but she jerked angrily away. Avoiding my touch.
“I needed your help too, I wanted you also!” she shouted which made me flinch.
“Last I checked, I was told to keep away from you,” I retorted, yes I was definitely going there. We had been stalling this long-awaited fight for far too long, each trying to avoid it, it was better to confront it.
“You don't mean it,” she said, “Merona is not the bad person here, she didn't ask you to abandon me,” she scowled
“Oh yeah, what do you have with her, If I recall that bitch was nothing but mean to me, I don't understand why you are friends with her,” I exasperated
“Oh!!!” she shouted, her veins appearing at the side of her neck and forehead, “everything does not revolve around you Frey, you are not the center of the universe!!” she said enraged, “Some of us have a life too, life that does not necessarily need to involve you!” her hand went up in the air aggravated.
I looked at her confused, how did she get this riled up?
“Rachael?” I called softly, “What's wrong,” I asked, taking a peek at her.
She was furious, her hand held her head as she tried to even her anger. She kept breathing. She chuckled darkly, “You Frey, you are my problem!” she beckoned. Her heart constantly rising and falling as she took in immense amounts of oxygen
“Me? Whatever did I do?, haven't I been the best friend to you? I've chased you down like a child, even down to dragging you with Merona. But I guess Merona won't be the problem because I am,” I hissed.
She snickered and giggled, slapping and stomping her feet in dark humor. She laughed maniacally. She was crazy.
“Of course, it's Merona, this has nothing to do with Merona! Don't you get it?” her left hand slashed the air in irritation. She prowled around like a wild animal on the loose.
“It has everything to do with her. All this started with her!” saliva flew out of my mouth as I spoke.
“No, it did not!”
“It did!!”
“No, she was just the spoke, it had nothing to do with her, everything was from you!” she spat at my face, I literally felt her saliva on my face. Spewing everywhere.
“Why? Why?! What did I ever do?”
“You are selfish and you don't listen, you only care about yourself and no one else. You don't listen or care. Why? Because only Freya Demitri has a problem! I thought it was just who you are, but I see you caring and listening to Loretta, and I thought maybe she is just as cruel as her mate!” she yelled.
It took every ounce of self-control not to pounce on her, Jade already came to the edge, on the verge of tearing her apart. She wanted to throttle her neck. I fought for dominance with my Wolf. She hated the thought of someone disrespecting her mate.
“You call him cruel, but he saved your sorry ass!” I stomped to her. My voice was big, evidence that my Wolf was surfacing.
“Well I didn't ask to be saved did I?” she retraced her steps as I stepped near.
“Ingrate! It's always the nobody that was quick to judge. Loretta needed me and as Luna, it was my duty to be there for her, I'm never going to regret it,” I roared in front of her. I was desperately trying to suppress Jade but at the mention of her mate? She took it personally.
“Oh, I see,” she laughed, “you are now the Luna?” she laughed hysterically, “how didn't I see how much of an asshole you were,” she taunted.
Immediately my hand grabbed her by the scuffle of her neck and slammed her back against the wall, “that's right, I'm your Luna, and you will respect me,” I ordered.
“You are just like the rest of them, selfish and greedy. I guess the dirtbag deserved a douchebag,” she said through gritted teeth.
I threw her on the floor, she coughed and rubbed her neck, “get out! Get out now!” my Wolf had come to the surface, my eyes had turned hazel in color. Rachael blinked and rummaged away.
The moment she was out, I gripped the table and tried to regulate my anger.
“Fuck!!!!!”
