C51 Proud of Her
Artemis Pov
The smile on her face when she was declared Luna would forever live in my heart. She had a satisfied look on her face and down through her body. Anyone could see the joy radiate off of her.
My perfect Luna.
My perfect mate.
If I had to stay my whole life just admiring her then I would with a smile forever on my face like a fucking joker.
How could she emanate so much grace? She was just perfect. Aegus my wolf grinned inside of me, he was so proud, hell we were proud, anybody would be proud having Freya as a soulmate.
When I took her hand, I helped her down, following closely immediately. I wasn't gonna allow her out of my sight. Not only because I was a horny werewolf who sought only to have her naked under me, moaning my name. But because she was luna, in like what, how many seconds back” Grey stated.
“Just to you all. To me, she had been my Luna since the day she arrived,” I told them, “it's the only way to make her learn of her duty fast and get into her office, don't you think?” I asked rhetorically.
They clearly didn't like my notion but I didn't do it for them to want anyway. And I wasn't just doing it to get on their nerves, Freya needed to be introduced into the court sooner than later, to help her have a ground understanding of the court.
“This is a mistake—-”
“You think the alpha is making a mistake?” Freya cut in, arching her brow at him. Surprising both I and every other Court member in the event.
When no answer was offered, she prodded, “your Alpha is making a mistake?”
“N..no no he is not,” Grey stuttered. Freya had every single person in this room under her influence.
“I thought as much,” she muttered in an indolent tone.
“Can I talk to you for a minute?” Jude asked, staring intensely at me.
I wondered why? Had he caught on? Did he know that which I had planned for him? It would help him if he knew.
I was a man of few words, I didn't need to announce my secret or my thoughts. The very idea of being as more grotesque as they had allowed their little mind to….. Always satisfied me,
He directed me to a corner and gave me one of those scary Intense looks which doesn't work on me.
“I hate acting like your father,” he started.
‘Then don't.’
“But I can't overlook this,” he said, like I gave two shit about his opinion.
I gave him one of those lazy looks that suggested that he got on with what he wanted to say, I didn't have all the time in the world. I had a mate that I wanted to do all the bad things to badly.
He glanced at Freya and dragged his gaze back to me. When he was quiet for the longest while, I took it upon myself to say, “overlook what?” my voice embodied with irritation.
Freya took a glass of wine and raised it in my direction with a small smile. I returned it. I never imagined her to be this bold and confident, not like it bordered me but it did surprise me.
“Freya, it's a mistake bringing her in this quickly,” he said in haste, afraid that I would cut him off before he got to begin.
“What are you insinuating beta Jude?” I asked, maintaining an icy gaze.
Why did they all think that bringing Freya into the court early was a poor decision and wait, who were they to question my decision. I slid my hand into the pocket of my pan as I stared at Jude, waiting for him to spill the rubbish I presumed he was about to.
“She’s dangerous,” he simply stated. He was going to have to elaborate further to have my understanding.
“In what sense?” I arched my brows, tilting my head a little.
“She's an alpha's blood, alpha Demitri’s daughter to be precise. Surely even you understand the gravity of what I'm insinuating,” he pressed on. His eyes were locked on mine like that should suddenly open the windows of understanding of what he meant.
“And you all are aware that she was nothing but an omega of the smallest pack before I found her, she has never got to live as an alpha’s daughter or beta. I don't see how dangerous she could be like this,” I pointed out.
“She doesn't have to leave as an alpha's blood to act like one, she has the blood running through her veins. Haven't you ever thought how she single handedly defeated Merona, our champion with just months of training. Certainly that would arouse some sort of vigilance in you, she's not normal,” he insisted.
“She doesn't have an inkling of who her father is and you should be glad you have a strong Luna leading the pack, don't want someone incompetent and weak,” by the side, Freya was speaking to some group of werewolves that had come to greet her. From the look of things, she was chatting very well with them. Her gaze would occasionally rise to take a peek at me. Once our eyes met and she looked away with tinted cheeks.
She was harmless.
“And if she learns of her father?” Jude asked. To the mere ears what he meant was shallow but to me, Artemis, he and I both knew what he was inferring to.
I strutted close to him, “and how's she gonna know, I wouldn't tell her and she doesn't ask, so how?” I asked, intimidating him. But I knew that would bear no effect on him.
“Walls have ears, Artemis,” he said in a challenging manner.
There, he was caving out.
I smirked.
“Walls don't have ears Jude, people have mouths,” I pointed out, “and you have mouths.”
“Well ears exist for mouths to speak,” he said. perfect. He was really drawing out of the line.
“And so you decided to keep watch on her, to keep tabs on her and know if she's towing towards danger,” I hinged. Poking him. Seeing how far he could hold out before he sputtered.
Subsequent to my evaluation, his eyes widened with fear before he completely masked it.
“Wh..at do you me..an?” he stuttered.
Bingo!
“What do you assume?” I arched my brow.
“I didn't keep tabs or stalk her,” he said.
“I caught a little bird, and the bird sang a lot,” I ridiculed. His features were laced with confusion as he prodded his mind on what I was implying.
“Pardon me, I'm lost there,” he feigned ignorance.
“You know our company has suddenly risen to the top, after we caught our little whistleblower,” I denoted.
He kept a plain look, “well that's good to know,” he stifled out, “although I wonder how—” he looked at Freya and back at me, “your lovely Mate, Freya would react when she discovers who killed her father,” he taunted, stepping closer to me and brushing my shoulder slightly.
“I'm curious to see.” jude said, smiling and looking at Freya from where she stood. Our eyes met again, but this time she wore a curious look and did not back away.
“You know what?” I placed my hand on his shoulder, “say hello to your son for me, what was his name again,” I leaned back, “oh, Stefan,” he gripped me.
He looked at me as I patted him and walked away, “my mate has called,” I told him and left him to his thoughts.
