C54 POWER

Freya’s Pov

I retired to my chambers later in the evening with all my plans to get choked and gagged by Artemis thrown through the window where my stalker had run through. After seeing Artemis look so appetizing in that black tuxedo the last thing I wanted to do was sleep alone in a cold bed away from a strong hard chest but here I was doing the same thing I was very much against doing. Sleeping away from Artemis.

He had chosen to look around and act all security vigilant, inspecting and looking every nook and cranny of the pack for my stalker.

Apparently, it wasn't Jude. He claimed to have never gotten into the female convenience. It wasn't like we were expecting him to come clean and suddenly own up and go all like, “Wow you caught me,” so we had to keep looking. But he was still our suspect.

In some parts of my mind, I didn't think he was the one. I didn't have that connection, that tells that he was the one, it just seemed too easy and my mind didn’t easily buy it.

That giddy fulfillment when you discover something, when you demystify a mystery, that unknown rush of adrenaline wasn’t there. It felt wrong, boring, and vague. No satisfaction of any sort.

Maybe because I had this stupid notion that my stalker wasn’t out to hurt me; again stupid I said.

So here I lay on my purple bed, staring at the ceiling with a very displeased Merona who hungered for anything but babysitting me.

Loretta was here throwing daggers at a glaring Racheal who didn't hesitate to share a mutual respect of returning her irritated look at Loretta.

“That's it!”

I stood up, I was bored as hell lying down on this soft bed doing absolutely nothing. My body was still yet my mind was like a moving train, running non-stop which was driving me crazy.

Unfastening my clothes from behind my back, it dropped thud on the floor and I walked out and into my closet.

Rummaging through a pile of grey joggers pants, I pulled out my favorite, beige color and threw on a black T’s. I walked out into my room and all eyes that goggled at me were in a scrutinized form.

“Where are you going Frey?” Racheal was the first to ask with a cautious tone observing my outfit.

As she stood they all stood to their feet. All gaze poring me like a cover of a magazine. They all looked at me for an answer with impatient gazes and stances.

“I'm going out, I'm tired of waiting in here like a duck doing nothing,” I told them while walking towards the door.

Merona was quick to get in my way as the others moved to stop me also.

“Leave the way Merona,” I said slowly, leaning back slightly.

“The only way out of here is through me,” she declared.

I shrugged my shoulders, “All right then, you asked for it,” I warned and gained ground but Rachael jumped in right on time, “stop!”

“I'm not allowing her out of this room!” Merona declared which pissed me off way more than I expected.

I felt this animalistic bile form within my throat, rumbling to be known.

“Leave.the.way. Merona!” I said more stoic.

“I'm not, Artemis put me in charge. He asked me to guard you and not let you out of the room,” she said. Her voice and everything she did felt disrespectful to me, it picked at me so annoyingly.

“She does have a point, Frey, Artemis would have our head if we let you out,” Rachel piped in from the side.

It aggravated me that they thought it was all right to disobey me and go against my wish. I clenched and unclenched my palm.

They should respect us!!! Jade was raging inside of me as she sought to exert complete dominance and command utter respect from these pups.

“Why don't we sit down just a tiny bit,” Rachel said coolly, directing me to a vacant couch in the room.

The bile formed a hot ball in my throat, it was unlike anything I had ever felt and experienced, it emitted raw power, growing drastically. As it grew so did my anger. I was a boiling lava of rage.

From my bleary vision, I saw Merona take her ground with full agility and deftness. With the last straw of self-control, I gritted my teeth and clenched my palms once again.

I was a fitful of rage now, breathing raggedy as I tried to even myself.

“Ummm what's happening?”

I couldn't make out the voice, I was much too angry to give a fuck who said that.

“Frey! Freya,”

My anger was getting to the brim and this pup wouldn't step back and obey me. She was adamant about disobeying me.

And it exploded like a bomb, my growl deep and crumbling. She shrieked back in fear but she wouldn't step back completely.

“GET OUT!!!!” I roared, the tremor felt from within me as I threw long strides to where she stood quivering like a drenched puppy.

In a swift motion, I collared her and let out the biggest animalistic growl known. The fear in her eyes was like sweets, I savored every piece of fear from her.

“How dare you disrespect me!!” I thundered.

“I'm so..rry s..rry,” she stuttered in fear.

Every single person backed away in utter terror gaping at me with their hands over their mouths.

“Sorry, who?” I asked, increasing the pressure around her collar.

“Sorry.. Sorry, Luna,” she added in fear.

I tossed her across the room, “Don't you dare get in my way,” I warned her, just then I felt the anger disperse and I dropped on the ground.

“Freya!” I heard an urging voice as I gripped my father's necklace.

What the hell was that?

What was that, Jade, I asked my wolf.

I don't know, she replied equally confused.

What was that power?

Rachael was by my side helping me up. The anger had sucked away every form of energy from me. I staggered up and watched a very frightened Merona standing to her feet. She massaged her neck as she coughed holding the table for support.

“Merona….,” Racheal called in a panicked tone. She let me go and immediately picked me up again. She was torn between who to assist.

“Go to her,” I told her, and she searched my eyes for certainty. I assured her by patting her in understanding and she rushed to Merona.

“What the hell was that? What was that power we all felt?” Loretta asked the question spiraling in my mind.

As Rachael helped Merona to the couch, “Yes what was that? Has Artemis marked you already?” she queried with a masked expression that seemed something like betrayal and another that I couldn't quite place my finger on.

“No, he has not,” Loretta took to answering for me. I returned to the bed and sat down. Merona was erratic, her head hung on the ground.

“So what was that?” I asked aloud.

“That was raw power, we all felt it, it ripped through us and compelled us to surrender,” Loretta said again, eyeing me suspiciously.

“Most importantly what happened to Merona, she seemed broken,” Racheal asked looking at me.

“Wait,” Loretta said, walking towards Merona and inspecting her closely, “did you—,” she laughed at herself and shook her head in disbelief, “did you command her?” she asked bewildered.

“What?!” I stood up and walked to where they both gathered around a shivering Merona.

“What is that?” I queried.

“It's an alpha thing, an alpha is able to command his subject, and now that doesn't make sense because you are not an alpha, and even if you are marked by Artemis you still won't be able to do that so how on earth were you able to command Merona without even Artemis mark,” Loretta asked in surprise gaping at me.

“I don't know! And how do we break her out of it?!” I asked deadpan.

“Let her go from your mind, just forget about it,” she told me. As per her direction, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, and let all my anger at Merona dissolve. Instantly she exhaled and stared wild eyes at me.

Three pairs of eyes turned to me, “who are you, Freya?”
