C57 Chasing the stalker

Artemis pov

We had seen a dark figure hiding and lurking behind dark walls, with movement as stealthy as a cat. I knew immediately it was Freya’s stalker, if his stealthy skills didn't show it then the black spy outfit he wore sold him out.

His movement was suspicious and immediately he understood that we were on his tail he started running and that only confirmed our suspicion.

“Take that way!” I ordered running up the stairs.

I was vexed literally, I would have been lying down next to a panting Freya that merely just came down from her first climax but instead, here I was chasing down a masked stalker.

He was going to regret the first breath he took when he crossed foot into this world for stealing our orgasm.

“Call the guards, check everywhere and post guards at every feet of the gate,” I ordered. He wasn't getting out of here. At least not alive.

“Alpha,” Iris called from the entrance of the ground hall, jogging up to me.

“What?” I asked in divided attention, my head swinging to the stairs and back at Iris.

“They are asking for you?” iris reported. Of course the event had ended but it only just began for me because it was time to pay attention to the guests and entertain them. A very boring act if I may add. It was the time to see that the guests were well rested and they had everything to their liking. It's pretty much like babysitting a bunch of grown ass werewolves, tending to them as pups and all while discussing alliance and partnership deals.

“Handle them, see to it that they have everything to their taste. I'll join you in a short while,” I told Iris.

The news of a stalker breaking into the pack must remain a secret. We wouldn't want the kids of pack assuming things and revelling in our downfall.

That could spark rumors, rumors that certainly were not true but would have a big influence on us negatively. They could craft wild imagination and use the opportunity to strike. Surely they won't win, no argument, but there was certainly no harm in being extra careful and having them just where I wanted and where they should be.

“They would grow suspicious alpha,” Iris said with a concerned expression, worry laced over his feature.

I sighed and turned to him. I placed my hand on his shoulder, “oh for heaven sake, cook something up, tell them something, anything. Like tell them I'm with my mate and I wouldn’t leave my mate unsatisfied. Squeeze something juicy,” I said in exasperation, patting his shoulder as I left him and jogged up.

“Oslo, have you the guards?” I called out.

“Yes alpha,” he answered, meeting me in the grand halls.

“Where do you think he entered,” I asked looking around.

“He couldn't have gone far,” Oslo replied scanning the long enormous hall that fell ahead and straight with no hiding places or area.

“My guess is, he is lying low in one of the rooms, as there is no place for him to run to,” Oslo stated in a matter-of-fact tone, still observing the grand gold halls. It was sparkling that we could see our reflection on the tiled wall.

“Gather around!” he commanded the guards.

“Any suspicious movements you see? Report to me immediately,” I ordered a handful of guards. They nodded their answers and I went on to say, “spread out and look for the burglar, be very discreet about it,” I warned.

“Yes alpha!” They bowed and walked out.

To the guards left, I turned to them, “search every room for him, he must not get away and don’t hesitate to fall to protocol number one should he prove stubborn,” I told them and they echoed a YES

As we dispersed gradually, a muffled voice resounded in the empty halls that we stood across from. The opposite hall.

Quickly, the voice was followed by the thudding of grand footsteps chasing something.

“That way!” I pointed, taking off in the direction of where the footsteps were coming from.

Heavy agile footsteps followed behind me immediately, they spattered as they connected with the tiled ground, making anyone close to feel the vibration from the ground.

“Alpha!” a small voice squealed in a surprised tone startling both I and every other person present.

I turned and saw a frozen Loretta with the girls, all mirroring one expression as their mouth dropped and their eyes popped staring bewildered at me.

“Lore—Merona?” I called suspiciously when I didn't see Freya with them.

They shared a similar look at one another and turned their glances back at me.

“Where’s Freya?” I asked, turning my complete attention to the group of girls. Oslo and the guards faced them with questioning gaze.

“Umm ... .ummm,” Merona bit her nails, shifting from foot to foot as she bit her nails for what to say. The girls behind her reflected her agitated demeanor and that somehow worried me gravely.

“Merona, where's Freya,” Oslo asked, approaching her, “where’s the Luna.”

“She took off!” She yelled, “I don’t know where but she took and there was nothing I could do about it, I was scared and I tried to stop her at first but she was too stubborn and I didn’t want her to comm——“

“We are looking for her currently, she couldn’t have gone far,” Racheal cut in, interrupting Merona out burst and blabbering. She looked somewhat sc…ared?

“So you’re saying, I asked you to look after my mate but you let her run off,” I asked the thing that mattered to me. I arched my brows at her, “Merona!” I yelled and she jerked, “you were given one simple task!”

She whimpered and stuttered back while I threw large strides to her spot.

“I’m sorry she she—-“

“We are sorry alpha but it isn’t Merona’s fault, we are currently searching for her,” Racheal interrupted again.

What was her deal? Why was she interrupting and she seemed to have forgotten her place so suddenly. I didn’t miss the way she set forth a foot, in a protective manner.

Were they? Are they? A thing?

I scrunched my nose.

“Remember your place,” I said and marched towards her, staring right into her soul.

She was defiant for a while before she blinked and stared at the ground. I thought as much.

“Let’s look for her,” Racheal said, breaking the tension in the hall.

“Pray to the moon goddess that we find her, if not consider your new home down the elevator,” I promised them.

“Yes..yes Alpha,” Merona stammered and moved forward.

“I think she should be in one of the rooms,” Loretta said.

We began our search, opening and jamming doors one after the other.

“I don't understand how you lost her again,” I said irritatedly, “what were you doing? You should have been careful. There was a reason I asked you to watch her for a reason,” I said, turning abruptly and facing a terrified Merona.

“We tried to stop her but she was suddenly too strong,” Loretta complained, “so we became scared, we couldn't stop her,” she added.

“What do you mean?” I asked

“She deceived us and went away,” Racheal intruded once again, “she wanted to go after her stalker idly without our help,” she added.

Why did she come to know too much?

“How do you —-”

“Over here alpha!” a guard called out from a door.

“The door here Is locked!” they announced.

“Open it!” I commanded as we marched towards them.
