C64 Atermis didn't deny killing my father
Freya’s pov
“Freya stop! We are gonna get into trouble,” Rachael yelled from behind me. But I didn't care what she said or for her tremor I didn't care how much trouble I was going to get into, all that mattered was Artemis, was confronting my mate, whom I have bedded with since the day I arrived here, all I cared for was asking him if he killed my father all this time and kept me in the dark.
“Freya! Freya!” Williams and Racheal called out to me. Their footsteps drew nigh, a sign that they were chasing me, trying to stop me from taking my rash action as they called it.
Stopping abruptly I turned to them, “there is nothing either of you would say that would change my mind. Now I'm going to go and ask my mate, and NO, I would not add your names,” I said, cutting them off before they had the chance to say anything.
I left them there speechless as I continued down the path that led to Artemis' presence. I didn't care to knock as I barged in, his beta and gamma were present talking to him. They seemed to be conversing, the moment they laid eyes on me, they all went quiet like children caught stealing.
They were obviously discussing something secret and they didn't want me to know about it. I could care less about what they were discussing, I wasn't here for that and I most definitely didn't care.
“Luna,” they bowed and pushed back.
I stared at them for the longest beat, silent and plained face.
“We..we are gonna go,” Iris said and dragged Oslo along with him who gave me the stare as he stumbled out with Iris.
“What's the problem, Luna,” Artemis asked with an inviting smile. His signature smirk on display as he pushed back his chair and came around the table to where I stood.
Books were piled by the foot of the table, a shelf to the left and to the right. The office would likely be mistaken as a mini library.
His large and comforting hand held my small arm as he stared into my eyes, “what does the princess, no, my bad,” he smiled yet, “the queen need,” he dragged still with a knee buckling smile.
A smile that would have sent my feet all jellies and butterflies in my stomach, now they were a completely different thing like I didn't feel it.
“My father,” I simply spoke.
He leaned back and peered at me, “what happened to him,” his voice had no hints to them, no layers, nothing of sort to throw him off or give him away.
‘What if they are lying,’ I heard a whisper in my head, ‘what if they were wrong, just see him, he would never hurt you,’ the whispers continued.
“I don't know, that's why I decided to ask you,” my voice was cold, straining to quiet my thoughts, the whispers and that of my brain.
He was taken aback, “what do you mean, do you need to sit down? You should sit down,” he offered.
I moved from him, because if I were close, his proximity would walk its way into my head, getting mixed with the thousand other voices in my head.
“I'm perfectly fine Artemis,” I muttered in patience, “please, what do you know about my father,” I asked.
“Your father, why do you ask?” he spoke cautiously, studying me.
“Is there anything you would like to tell me about him, your relationship, perhaps?” a book caught my attention, ‘Alpha Artemis of the waterfall pack,’ it was written on it.
I had the feeling of deja vu, I had seen something similar, different names.
‘The Snowmoon pack,’ I remembered the name Rachael had mentioned. That was the name of my pack, that name rang a bell, and soon after all the dots were connecting.
My first night here or the second, I couldn't guess but I had stumbled across a book in the library that belonged to Artemis, where I first saw the name, ‘The Snowmoon pack, Alpha Demitri of The Snow Moon pack,’ that, exactly how it was written.
It held how he was brutally killed by….. I raised my eyes and met with the golden irises that belonged to my mate, Artemis.
‘He was an enemy of my father,’ he had said, ‘I didn't hurt him, my father did,’ he had lied. It was all just a lie, everything, all of it.
“I told you, I had nothing to do with it,” he started, “he was—,”
“An enemy of your father? Bullshit! My father couldn't have met your father, and yet you lie?” I spat.
“Tell me Artemis, tell me the truth, who killed my father,” I strolled towards him, he was quiet as he watched me approach him. Leaving the stacks of books in the row on the wall.
“Look me in the eye and tell me, tell me the truth?” I urged him.
“What do you want to hear?” his voice gained some momentum, an edge, or maybe his anger was coming to the surface.
“I want you to tell me the truth, tell me who killed my father?” I cried out, “tell me that it isn't you,” I begged as the tears in my eyes betrayed upon seeing his look.
“I did!” he boomed, making me flinch, “I killed your father, Freya, I did,” he trotted closer, and I moved back in fear, fear of the revelation.
“Why,” my voice was barely above a whisper as my hand landed on the load of books on the table for support. But not even it could save me from what I was feeling.
“He deserved it!” he yanked, making me jerk tremendously from surprise, “your father was stubborn and would not bow to me, he deserved it,” Artemis snarled.
I had never heard him so brutal before, it seemed as though my heart was being crushed by a truck, smearing it over and over again on the soiled ground.
At some point there was a sharp pain, like a dagger plunged into my heart.
“Why…how..why?” I didn't know the right words to ask, everything was spiralling, my words were not forming and I stuttered.
The books fell to the ground as I desperately fought to stay see the light. I crouched, taking the edge of the table for support.
“What did he do to deserve that, what did I do? Why..why,” I sobbed by the side of the table, “why, did you! Did you know what I had to go through..!” I shut up from the ground and pointed at him, “You!”
“Your father is not the victim here, he would refuse to give up his land for me, I offered money, still he refused, what should I have done?” he queried and I gaped at him.
“You are kidding, no no no, tell me you are kidding,” I nudged him and laughed, “he refused to give up his own land for you and you killed him? That's your stupid reason!” I looked at him extremely, “so you killed him for his own property?”
“I was in charge, he should have listened and it wasn't like I didn't offer him money,” he said, validating what he did.
I was wrong once again, I was a bad judge of character. I was foolish and naive.
“So you killed him for his land?” By now the tears had dried up and what was pulsing through my green veins was nothing but anger.
“It was for the good of everyone,” he stated like it was a known fact, like I should understand and see where he was coming from.
“What, everyone!” I yelled to his face, “what everyone Artemis, was it for me? Because am sure as hell it wasn't,” I spat out loud poking him on his chest.
He caught my hand and moved me back, “but you are benefitting from it,” he spoke incredulously.
My jaw dropped and my eyes shut out, “how!” I yelled, “tell me how!” cry, laugh, I didn't know which would better to express how I felt. Maybe everything at once.
“I used it to build the multi-billion dollar group that you now belong to, not just any member but a vice chairman,” he said. All this like that justified his actions. What did I mate with?
“What?” I couldn't even voice it, just air left my mouth.
“You heard me right and you have me to thank for changing your li—,”
I thrusted my fist directly into his face, shutting him real good.
