C65 At the dungeon
Freya's pov
I was thinking that by now I’d be living in the dungeon but rather I was seen to my room by a handful of guards, Artemis of course had searched for a better lie to muster.
He didn't say anything, he just simply called out to the guards who were escorting me.
While standing in the elevator, I caught sight of those buttons enclosed in a safety plastic casing. If I got into that room, I wouldn't be able to step out again, I could bet my luck and I was really desperate to check out where those buttons led and what secret they held.
“I’ll be fine on my own, don't worry,” I told the guards. Seeing that Artemis had told them that I wasn't healthy and that they should make sure I got to my room.
Prick was too much of a coward to say that I punched him.
They looked amongst each other, “are you sure,” asked one of the guards in worry.
“Yeah yeah, I'm fine,” I nodded my head as I assured him.
He shared a glance with the others and cast one my way, “okay, but if you need anything, just send for us,” he bowed and stepped out with the other guards.
I smiled a ‘no problem,’ at them. The elevator door jammed and I immediately opened the casing. Passwords appeared. They were in numerals. I punched in the date we first met and it buzzed in denial.
Off course.
Thinking deep, I tried his name but it didn't work either, I went for his favourite color, still no access. Then while in deep thought, my eyes landed on the number ‘6’ I followed it up with the remaining letters and it buzzed as green light showed and it came open.
With satisfaction I punched the red button. The elevator shook as it dropped down with full force, my body stumbled across the place as my hands landed on the wall, holding it for dear support.
It felt as though my mind was going to jump out of my ribcage as the whole elevator dangled from above and beneath me.
How did such a modern building hold such an old elevator, it was as though it was abandoned and hadn't been in use.
Suddenly the bumpy ride came to a stop and I stumbled my way out.
An aftermath thought shut in. What did this place hold, were they secrets that were better to be left in the dark? What if somebody was here, his beta or gamma.
Now when my thoughts went that way, I felt betrayed and even more foolish. My coach.
My heart was drumming as I stumbled out of the elevator. The first thing that swept my nose was the smell of dried blood. It stung on my nose as I scrunched it using my hand to clip the bridge of my nose.
My eyes caught sight of old rusty irons that concealed whatever secret it was hiding. When I peered closer my eyes came upon a dark figure, head hanging downward, veering closer, I discovered that there were two figures there.
I pushed the door open, it was with no lock. I guess he didn't think anyone would peer this close, or he trusted that his prisoners would never be able to break out.
The sound of my heels clicking with the tiled rusted floor, it woke up the prisoners and I looked as a pair of familiar and striking eyes gaped at me.
“Jude!”
“Luna!”
Huh! I guessed the title stuck faster than I thought. His surprise soon gave way to a smile as he looked at me in… satisfaction?
“I see you finally found out that you were a fool,” he remarked, his lips were busted and bruised, and his cheekbones held minor injuries.
My guess was, he was just abducted.
“And I see that you have found a new home,” I studied him, “and you got company,” I noticed, the boy was younger and seemed to be a doppelganger of someone. It also appeared that he had spent more time here.
“Dad, who's this?'' The younger boy I had been curious about spoke and he was none other than Jude’s own son.
Father and son in the same cell.
Artemis, I must acknowledge, was the devil.
“She's our Luna and guess what?” he asked looking at me as he replied to his son, “she would soon be joining us here,” he stated like it was a known fact.
“I would not!” I moved out from the shadows from which I lurked. Jude cackled, “I take it that you've found out all about your father and his death.”
“He didn't die, he fucking killed him!” I snarled.
Jude movement was restricted by the shackles of chains that held him to the chair. It rustled among one another due to his activity.
“Yes, your mate killed your father, took his pack and made it into the multi-billion dollar group, and who's the vice? You,” he mocked. I suddenly wished his mouth was chained too, that tongue of his needed some clipping.
“I warned you but you would not listen, you thought you were smart, you were just foolish and helping the enemy all this time,” his words were insulting and it aggravated me because he was right.
“Shut up!” I snapped, he was confirming the words my mind was yelling at me, telling me.
Jade had gone silent, she hadn't muttered a single word since the revelation and I really needed her to tell me that I was smart and that it wasn't my fault, yet I was met with an echoing laughter at the back of my mind and silence.
“Don't be so angry, you will soon be our partners in the smelling cell,” he noticed my scrunched nose, as I would constantly rub it.
“I would not, Artemis would not,” it sounded more like I was reassuring myself that he would not, I was his mate after all, but that only added to the number of reasons why I was stupid.
“Dumb much, Artemis would throw you in here and kill you in silence. He would not have anyone go against him. I was his father's beta, a man that killed his own father, how much more you,” he chuckled when he took in the perplexed position I had taken as all the colors washed from my face, “you really don't know what you married into, do you?” he added a mocky laughter to that and I immediately stumbled my way out of the prison, his laughter echoing in my mind.
I was In danger, and it wasn't safe for me anymore.
“You can't run from him!” he yelled and rustled the chains again.
“Get me out and I can save both of us!” he yelled
But I was already in the elevator punching the green buttons continuously.
‘You can't run from him!’ his voice came again.
‘He killed his father! How much more you!’ I shook my head defiantly.
The elevator seemed to have slowed down as I took ages to come up.
‘What if he was out there waiting for me!’
‘What if he already saw me!’
‘I can't die here!’
The chiming dragged me out of my horrifying reverie as I scampered out. Immediately a pair of hands caught me and my heart dropped on the ground.
“Are you okay Luna?” a worried guard asked.
“I'm perfectly fine,” I assured him getting up, “I'm okay, I just need to rest,” I pulled away and smiled.
First principle of being a perfect Luna.
Smile even if you were dying.
Die with a smile.
He bought my words and returned to his post. I gaited as I approached my room.
The moment I stepped in, Rachael and Williams snapped up, “we are getting out of here,” I announced.
“What?”
“Pack whatever you can, we are leaving!”
