C66 The escape plan

Freya’s pov

“What do you mean,” Racheal came to my side. I stuffed some clothes into my duffel bag, she pulled my hands and veered me around, “What are you doing?”

“I'm getting the hell out of here, we are getting out!” I said once more.

“What? Why?” Williams yelled from behind.

“Because,” I spun and faced him, “because I'm mated to a monster.”

“Okay, even if we wanted to leave, we can't, Artemis would have his guards keeping watch,” Racheal held me again, “we can't escape, you can't escape,” she was looking directly into my eyes as she spoke.

I snatched my hand away, “I can!” I must. I was on the brink of crying, the tears flowing into the corner of my eyes. Whenever I thought about it, it got so heavy and I just wanted to drop down dead but I would catch myself and push my shoulders back.

“You can't!” she paused, I discreetly sniffed and tilted my head back, “And why is that?”

“Because you are his, you are his mate,” she had said, and when she did the tears I was holding flowed seamlessly as her words held nothing but the truth.

I was his. I was his mate. That whole phrase resonated within me, echoing and creating more sounds to the ugly fact. Her hands robbed my arm as she drew nigh in a consoling manner.

I was mated to a monster.

“Well I don't care,” I was desperate not to break, not here, not now.

“This is dangerous Luna—-”

“Don't call me that!” I snapped at an approaching Williams.

“Freya, think this through, this is——”

“Don't tell me what to fucking do! He fucking killed my father, murdered his own father, and imprisoned a father and a son”, I let out my frustration, my fear and pain coming to the edge.

He had a knack for people’s fathers.

“What?” their jaws dropped as they chewed their mouths for a coherent speech. But I doubt there was any.

Yes, that was how I was, speechless.

“Oh no! Who.. Who's father does he have down there?” Rachael asked, reaching up for my sleeve.

“Jude,” I answered as I embarked on packing my clothes.

I spared them a single glance to catch their startled form, “now we don't have time, we have to get out of here, do you understand?” my head nodded a ‘do you get why?’

“Bu…but—-”

“I'm sorry, but Freya is right, if Artemis finds out that she knows everything, he will kill her,” Williams's words felt like a deja vu of Jude’s words earlier. I hid the tremor that crept up my spine with those words.

“Okay, but if we are leaving, how do we get out without being acknowledged and not to add the minions of guards that would be situated by every door post and gate,” Racheal spoke, and we stared at William for an answer as he had been the one sneaking in and out of the pack.

“What?” he questioned in confusion, his expression very funny, but nothing comedic enough could bring a grin from the load of revelation I just had.

“You are the stalker, how would you go out unnoticed,” Racheal directed.

“Wha…what?” he laughed as he saw the seriousness in our demeanor, he knew we were far from joking.

“Okay!” he clapped his hands, “this is what is gonna happen, you are the Luna and you would behave as such—-,”

He wasn't done with his speech before I interrupted, “I'm not Luna,” I reminded him.

He rolled his eyes, “You are, and we need you to be if this plan is going to work,” he maintained a gaze with me.

“You will wear your dress, do your hair real nice, wear one of these heels that were made to kill women, put on sweet makeup, and——”

“I'm sorry to interrupt, but did you miss the message? We are running,” I brought to his remembrance.

“Yes and we definitely don't need dolling up for an escape,” Racheal supported.

“Oh dear, I completely understand, now I'm the expert, do what I said,” he held me by my arms as he watched me to trust him.

I very much doubted I would be rendering any of that to people again.

“Now I know you don't want to but you can't have Artemis suspecting what you are about to do, you must act normal. Plus he would never think you would run away, you don't have anyone out there, he would never suspect,” he nodded his head at me and I returned it.

The bile that usually followed when he mentioned Artemis name, it formed in my throat now.

I hated it but his plan was perfect.

“Okay,” he raised his hand for a high five but I just walked out into my closet.

******

I wanted to cut my hair now, drop it to the ground but I wasn't allowed to. So I used a hot iron on my hair, tonguing it and allowing it to bounce by my side. I picked gold earrings and slipped them on. His favorite.

On my table, I wore a gold necklace, all to his taste. We had dinner downstairs. I wiggled into an off-shoulder white bodycon dress, flowing and accentuating my shape.

Gold slippers were on display by my feet, I slid my feet into them and stood tall. I picked my white purse and looked at myself in the mirror.

My makeup was soft and gave me an innocent look as my doe eyes were now pronounced by the effect of my mascara.

I was perfect.

An angel.

Gradually I worked on my smile as I gaited my steps to the elevator. Walked in and pressed the button down. Coming down I met my very sweet and perfect mate.

He smiled at me.

Keep up public action.

I locked arms with him as I smiled, not too bright, to let him see that nothing was off. I wasn't about to smile like nothing was up when everything was wrong, he would suspect, he would know.

“I'll explain everything later to you,” he whispered into my side,

I stiffened out a smile, “I'll be waiting,” I promised him. I had to know his reasons.

We arrived at the hall and all court members were present. All these people knew about me, they knew and still were quiet watching me like the fool I was.

“Alpha and Luna,” they stood up and bowed.

“You really found yourself an angel,” Mark commented.

“Well angel or not, where is Jude, he is the leader for a reason,” Rose, the sly human woman spoke. Taking notice of his absence.

I sat still and let my eyes run through the interior. The table was made of the finest wood known, I wondered if it was from my pack. Chairs draped in gold and red velvet stood round the table. The room was enormous and fancy, with curtains, white and gold winding up. A chandelier could be seen hanging from the roof, casting gold glittering lights on us. The place was beautiful. I fit in.

“The reason for this dinner is to celebrate the rise of our company and to congratulate every single one of us, for finding out about our enemies,” be begun, “now the packs that were——”

Suddenly the door opened to Iris, Artemis beta, he bowed and made to approach Artemis by my side. He leaned forward and whispered something into Artemis’ ear that made him stand to his feet abruptly.

“I'll be right back, the meeting would be rescheduled,” he announced following his beta.

“Artemis,” I called to him.

“Wait in my room, I'll be back and I will explain everything,” he simply answered and hurried out.

“What, trouble in paradise?” Mark mocked.

I rolled my eyes at him, “Artemis,” I called as I ran to the door, holding my dress up.

“Your stalker, did he get the message from Jude?” Mark was openly being disrespectful, I stopped and turned to him, “What?” I asked.

He came to my side and leaned in, “nothing should happen to Jude, let Artemis know,” he spoke below a whisper and bent backward.

“I don't know what you are talking about,” I lied, “I have a mate to check up on, so excuse me,” I went around him and walked out.

While out, I hastily spotted the guard, he bowed, “Where's Artemis,” I queried in a worried tone.

“He went out,” he answered.

“Which way?” I prodded.

“That way Luna,” he directed with his fingers and thanked him as I ran into the elevator that led out.

I arrived in the garage and opened my favorite Ferri car. I turned the key and it roared to life, I marched the break as I steamed it and drove bringing it to life.

“Open the gate,” I said to the guard, he bowed and went to do as I had instructed.

The moment I crossed the threshold of the pack house I immediately went back, letting Racheal come to the front.

She took charge and sped up. My heart was beating crazily as I tried to digest what was happening.

I was escaping.

But it felt too good, too easy to be real.

What if Artemis just pulled up, or was following us or was watching us.

“Breathe Freya, I saw him go out, he won't catch us,” Williams tried to assure me.

Racheal applied more pressure and I was forced to hold onto my seatbelt for life. She took up a dirty and twinny route, she turned again taking us in the direction of a forest. We bumped and jerked in the vehicle.

When she was satisfied that we had delved away from the city completely, she stopped the car. I looked at both of them and came down. Williams followed suit and started searching for god knows what.

There was a lake in front and realization instantly dawned on me. He found what he was looking for, a big rock was in his possession as he approached Racheal. and handed it to her.

Racheal stepped out and the car was set in motion as we helped and pushed it into the lake.

“No oo!” Racheal yelled as the car drowned. I packed my long flowing dress as we started running into the opposite side of the lake.

“Run! Freya Run!” Williams yelled, “Artemis wouldn’t be gone for long before he knows he was pranked,” Williams told me.

I felt adrenaline build up from fear and I sprinted down the and deep into the forest. My hand pressed my father's necklace tight.

‘Am I doing the right thing?’ I thought as I ducked beneath a tree branch. It was then I felt her with a piercing pain.
