C69 My second chance mate

Freya's Pov

Two days, it had been two days since I last stepped out of this room, anything away from this room and it would be as though I had been snatched from my safe haven and thrust into the war front.

My mate, no, my second chance mate. I never thought a person could have more than one mate in a lifetime but it seemed it was now possible, happening to me in fact.

I wanted a fresh start, away from everything. Fight and fend for myself yet here I sat believing that there was a second chance mate.

Everything was taking place so damn fast, my mate been a murderer, killing my father, mating with me while lying, finding out that I'm an Alpha's daughter, running away from Artemis then discovering that some of my people were here looking up to me now, their long lost alpha, returned to give them a future that even I couldn't see. And just when I thought I had caught up with everything I'm thrust back into the position of a Luna yet again and dormant alpha position.

All of it? All of them were overwhelming, I didn't know how to react, I didn't know how I would react, I did not know what to do, so I stayed up in the room and locked myself away from the outside world, scared of entering it.

A knock came on my door before it was forced open and the intruder stood, staring at me.

“The alpha wants to speak with you,” Racheal said softly. Her voice low as she watched me care.

“Can I decline?” I asked, the idea alone enticing.

“I'm sorry but you can't,” her tone was both sympathetic and stern. She was exhausted from all her trails to make me feel better and also from understanding my plight.

“He has some answers,” she came and pulled me up, “get showered and come take fresh air, away from all this,” even though she didn't believe her words, coming out meant accepting everything happening.

“What does it matter, what more questions do I have?” I asked rhetorically.

“Just come and meet him, beside he's your—-”

“Don't even say it!” I cut her off, “I'll be in his office,” I said leaving no room for argument.

“You can leave now,” and I walked away. I heard the door open and shut behind me. I closed my eyes and took a long shaky breath, the tears and urge forming just at the brim.

I walked into the shower, spent just a few minutes and came back feeling worse. I usually felt better after a shower, now it was like the water was not doing the cleansing of the soul.

My room was big, not as big as my previous one. Painted in white and decorated with some green plants. It was homely and I felt out of place. I didn't have a home, I have never known a home.

Opening the wardrobe, colourful gowns, long and elegant hung. Beautiful and soft like summer but I felt nothing of sort. While raking through the hanger of clothes with my eyes, I caught sight of a purple, it was close to dark but it also reminded me of the Waterfall pack, so no!

A black gown with flowers was the only thing I could find to my satisfaction. I wore it and sighed, studying myself in the long length mirror.

‘I need to go shopping,’ I thought and walked out.

A staff member was by my door, ready to accompany me to my direction, “Luna,” he greeted.

“I'm not your Luna, now let's go,” I instructed.

He bowed and did as I told. I followed him down the stairs quietly, not in the mood to admire the interior that gave off the vibe of an old castle. It was beautiful but my sour mood was spoiling the beauty for me. It was a two story building, on the second floor where we turned and walked down a white hallway, he stopped in front of a door, knocked, and turned the knob open.

He stepped aside for me to roll in, Williams and Racheal were sitting on the couch, their backs arched in a stiff position.

Upon seeing me, Alpha Tobias rose to his feet, “welcome,” and the others turned to me.

Tobias walked away from the table and came to the two couches that sat facing one another. The room was light, more like a counselling room.

Assuming his seat, I followed suit. I'm stiff, upright with my eyes staring into space.

“I'm glad to have finally met my——”

“I heard you would have answers to my questions, that you know more, more than any of them,” my voice was with restraint, reserved and cold. He sensed how I swiftly changed the topic from where he was going.

“Umm, yes I do,” he sat up a little awkwardly.

“How,” I urged.

“Because…..,” he inhaled, “I'm Alpha Rex's son,” he dropped the bombshell and I had to catch myself from shooting up.

“What!” was what I was able to mutter.

“How?” Racheal asked, equally shocked.

“During the war you were offered to me,” he waited for me to digest this piece of information, I was given to him? I caught myself from retching, the feeling of nausea returning.

“Offered in terms of what?” I stretched my legs, rubbing them, “do you mind elaborating because I'm forgetting how to breathe,” I said coming short of breath.

“This may sound a little weird but you were supposed to be my wife,” he paused and I definitely let go, standing to my feet.

“Your wife! How because I'm your mate? We were kids so how could you have known! What did you mean by wife!” my words were sharp as I was letting go, fuming in anger.

“What I mean is——”

“What the hell do you mean! That I was offered to you! What was I? A burnt offering or what? Am I an item to be passed down to whomever wants me? Am I some sort of property, purchased by all? Let me make myself clear, alpha or not I don't give a fuck about who the hell said you could have me! You all can go to hell for all I care. This is the last time I would be used and treated like nothing! The last time!” my nose flared as tears gathered in my eyes.

I wanted to scream!

“I'm sorry but—-”

I held out my hand, “no? I'm sorry, I'm sorry but I'm nobody's property, none, so I'm sorry but you should take your money back because you are at a loss!” the feeling of throwing up again.

“Fuck!” I screamed and dishevelled my hair.

“Wait!” I recalled something paramount, “you are Alpha Rex's son, brother to Evelyn?” I asked, slowly approaching him.

“Yes,” he answered, not sure where this was headed.

“The same people that sold me to my parents' killers,” I was coming back to this, I just had to establish one basic fact first.

“Yes,” he was still unsure.

“Did your parents offer me to you, to lead by your side even before they found out we were mates?” pressure building from every word.

He started grasping where I was coming from and by the look on his face, it seemed….that I… Was right! I'm right. Those monsters! I lost it all.

“Ohhh you monsters, you and all of your family are all monsters!”

“Freya, it is not what you think,” he stood up.

“Oh it is apparently what I think, it is!”

“Just so you know, the mate bond and everything?” I held his gaze.

“No Freya, no,”

“Oh yes! None of them will take place!”

“I'm not mating with anyone again!”

“Are you going to reject me?” His voice was sharp, a pain in it.

“Oh yes! Yes I will!” and I stomped out.

I was done being a puppet.
