C73 Am I pregnant?
Freya's Pov
I sat up abruptly on the bed to be met with faces streaken In sheer horror. They all reflected one another’s expression like a mirror.
Sitting up I saw an unfamiliar face that bore a different look as the others, she smiled while the others had a sagged demeanor.
“What happened? Did someone die?” I asked, looking at them. They looked like one who had lost a family.
“More like someone came to life,” an unfamiliar voice and face squealed out, obviously excited while the others were the direct opposite, their faces were gloomy, and a pair of eyes sought mine, his face somehow more broken.
“Speak to me!” I demanded, “what happened.”
“You are pregnant Frey,” Racheal said,
“What?” I sat up, to get a better understanding of what she meant.
“You are carrying Artemis’ child in you,” Williams, whom I hadn't set eyes on since our arrival, said.
“What are you all saying!” I barked out, searching their expressions for understanding.
“What we are saying is that you are pregnant for——”
“I know what you said,” I cut off and came to my feet, “what I'm asking is how the fuck do you know I'm pregnant!”
“You are pregnant my dear, I confirmed it,” the woman that I had woken up to meet her smiling said. Thinking of it she was the only one smiling like a maniac.
“And how do you know that!”
“I tested you—”
“Please Freya! The morning sickness, your mood swings, your sudden weakness, they are all plausible, you are pregnant,” Rachael had snipped in,
I snapped in the supposed doctors direction with the measured breathing, “I want you to get——
“Don't complete that statement!” Rachael marched forward, gaze warning me not to do otherwise.
“What?” I asked incredulously, “it's my life that life is growing in right now against my will!”
“Well it wasn't against your will when you were in love with the father,” she snatched her hand from Williams' grasp who was trying to hold her back.
“For the man that killed my father, how do you want me to react!” I shouted, unknown tears flying from my eyes.
“Oh please!” she clapped her hands, “I'm sick and tired of all your drama Freya. You suck everything and everyone into what you are going through and what you are doing, you are… you are the most self centered person I have ever set eyes on,” she parroted, her hands flying in the air, Williams tried to drag her out but she would have neither of that.
She seized her hands from his hold brutally, “No! Do not tell me to stop!” she pointed a finger at him, “She needs to know,” she turned to me.
“Know what? How incredibly hard my life has been! How you lied to me, how what? my own father gave me up to save his pack! Or how I married the man who murdered my own father and I am now carrying his child! I beg you, please tell me!” I cried out closing in on our space.
She laughed a dry laugh, “oh please!” she screamed, stomping her feet. Everyone left and slipped out of the room, I only noticed when Williams shut the door.
“Oh please Freya! I know your life is hard but that doesn't mean—-”
“Doesn't mean what! You! Have no clue what every day of my life is like,” I wiped the tears from my eyes, “you don't know the half of it!” my head thrust forward.
She inclined her head and shuffled her hair in frustration, “this is not the best time to say this to you but,” she laughed and staggered back, “you! You are just so selfish and greedy and and thoughtless,” her eyes shut tight as she spoke every word in pure anger, veins popped up on her forehead and she wiped the tears away.
“You never care for no one but yourself,” she spat.
A dark humor slipped past me, “I beg you, tell me how hard your life has been, tell me!” my arms launched in the air in exhilaration.
Her expression darkened and she spoke, “this is it, of course no one on this planet is in pain aside Freya Demitri! One thing you and your father have in common.”
I laughed, “laugh!” she urged, “do you care about me? Or about Williams or Tobias who has been nothing but nice and accommodating,”
“I didn't ask him to be.”
She paced the open area of the room as if she couldn't believe my words.
“What the fuck Freya! You don't have to ask, is what family do, is what friends do, and I know you wouldn't know that,” she tilted her head with her hand folded over her chest.
I felt pierced by her words, “Friends huh! I guess your kind of friends are the type that smile and then lie to me, huh!”
Her face contorted into pain before it was quickly replaced, “I did it for you, another foreign thing to you.”
“You lied to me Rachael, right to my face you saw me multiple times. Hell you basically lived with me, you had the chance and you never told me. You dolled me up, moulded me to be the perfect Luna to a monster, sorry if I don't know how to act, I guess I am not a good friend because I have never known real friends,” I said lowly.
Hurt passed through her face, “Freya, I did it for you, I saw how happy you were and how desperately you needed to fit in and so I kept procrastinating telling you till I lost the courage to muffle up anything, I couldn't and I'm not justifying what I did, it was a silly thing but I did it for you,” she spoke.
Anger had now passed as what were spoken were words that cut like a slice of ice through the heart.
“But despite what I did, it doesn't mean that you'd stop caring. Did you ask about Merona, I left her and followed you down here, you haven't once asked me about her, how I feel, how she is, why? Because I am not Freya and I'm not in pain. I love her, Freya! I love her! So much, and some days I regret following,” she broke out tearfully and I gasped, “you don't mean that,” I choked out but she shook her head, “I do Freya, I do.”
“Then why did you!” I snapped, that came out wrong.
“I don't know why,” she replied and suddenly I loved my reply, “maybe I thought you'd change, I thought you needed help but I guess you don't because once again all that matters is you Freya. I mean look at Tobias——”
“He is fine!” I literally pointed out, “he didn't ask you to speak on his behalf,” I snorted.
“Yeah, you think he's fine, Freya, he is Alpha Rex's son if you have forgotten and yet we found him very far from home, hiding in a mountain with his own pack, how in the actual hell do you think he is fine! Have you cared to ask and then he replied to you that he's fine? His father's error almost jeopardized his bond with you, yet here you stand declaring that he is fine! Now tell me how fine he is?” Rachael chuckled, “Freya everyone is in pain, if we shut the world out because we feel like we are feeling the most pain? We would go from being the victim to the perpetrator, we would be the evil we fight,” then she walked to the door and turned to me, “and that child isn't just Artemis’ she's yours too and weather you accept it or not, she was formed from love and she is more innocent than the fate she was pried to,” and she walked out.
The feeling of nausea swept me again and I immediately dashed off into the bathroom, I bent over and vomited water, the only thing in my system this morning.
‘Morning sickness.’ And I curled up on the marble floor crying. My body felt weak and deprived of energy. My limbs were sore and weak, it felt as though a rock was placed on my leg.
The sound of my door opening made me collect myself, rise from the floor and dust my clothes. When I entered the room a pair of blue eyes stared at me.
“I'm sorry,” I mumbled, “I'm sorry for being so selfish and greedy,” my knee buckled as my weight dropped but before I could reach the ground, strong chiselled arms caught me, with his face contorted in sheer terror.
“Sorry,” I whispered.
