C78 Worried
Freya’s Pov
“So how did you track us?” I asked Merona who was on the field with me.
“Simple, my phone picked up a lot of signals and data works from this angle and I decided to check it out. I knew she'd be with you,” she said.
“And so you just came to us?” I inquired.
“I came for her, correction, I should have followed her, she told me when she was leaving, she asked me to come but I was stubborn, now she found her fucking mate,” she said that with so much spite in her tone, “now I don't even know where I stand.”
Now I understood why Rachael was so angry at me, I hadn't asked, I hadn't cared. Of course, she had asked Merona to tail along on our escape plan but she refused and decided to be loyal to Artemis, only when she missed Rachael so badly she couldn't steer off anymore. She followed her for love, she left all that she knew and where she was respected for love.
However, now that she was here she cast a dejected look because Rachael may not choose her.
“If she doesn't choose you, then what?” I questioned cautiously.
“Nothing, I would stay here and be ready to kick that bitch’s ass should she hurt her,” her palm fisted, “and ready to give my life for her when Artemis strikes,” she stated.
“You think he's going to strike?” I asked in sheer horror. If he strikes, that means my presence here was putting Tobias at risk. He and every other person in this pack.
“Don't tell me you didn't think he would?” she joked, when she saw my face she voiced, “oh you actually believed he would not.”
“You can't blame me, I didn't think—-”
“Freya listen to me, the whole court is looking for you, Artemis is looking for you, his Luna is looking for you, I'd not be surprised if——”
“Wait!” I interrupted, “did you say Luna?”
She laughed, “oh dear, I envy you naivety, yes Luna, your step sister, the bitch at the party,” she explained in disbelief that I didn't think of this.
“What?” I gasped in shock. He replaced me so quick, with my step-sister—— shit that. A half sister meant she would at least regard me as her sister, she didn't, Evelyn never did and she envied my position since.
She should wear the crown, I hope her neck holds it out for long.
“I'd not be shocked if he had sent out spies to look for you or even go as far as placing a bounty,” Merona described.
“But.. How? Why? Why after all the hell he has put me through? Why not leave me alone!” I screamed from pain.
“Because Alpha Artemis does not lose, he doesn't accept defeat. He wouldn't leave any stone unturned if it meant to find you. You are his possession and you have brought disgrace to him, he never thought you would escape, no one thought you would but you did therefore his drive to find you, so I can assure you that Artemis would come for you,” she said and a tear fell down my eyes.
“Oh my gosh, please don't shed tears beside me, I would not know what to do and we are not friends, so please don't,” her fear made me laugh and every pool of tears dried.
“Good, nice and dry,” she breathed a sigh of relief.
My hands roamed my stomach and I rubbed it, “you are carrying his seed in you,” her voice held sympathy that wasn't needed. But it was nice having someone who understood even though I'd rather die than say this.
“I love the baby, she was a handwork of my mistake and pleasure,” I said, “it's perfect,” I smiled as a wave of acceptance washed over me and I smiled truly from that apprehension.
“I would probably never repeat this again but you are gonna be a good mother,” she complimented with a straight face.
“If I live to bear them,” I whispered and I felt cold in my spine.
“We both know I'm the wrong person for that talk, so let's not go there. About Rachael, what do you think she's feeling right now? I don't know if I did the right thing, she seemed pretty okay before my appearance,” she changed the topic.
“Okay, I have nothing to say to that,” I stood up, having my revenge.
“C’mon, don't be petite, tell me! I know you know,” she urged me.
“No I do not,” my pace quickened as I was leaving the open field and heading towards the direction of the pack house.
“Freya!” she called and chased after me.
“No,” I yelled over my shoulder as I picked up my pace.
“Please, I need to know because I love her, I love her so damn much,” I came to a pause and swirled on my spot.
“What did you say?” I queried contemplating my steps.
“I love her Freya, I love your friend, I love Rachael,” she proclaimed and I almost broke down in sobs. It was always the hardest people with a stone heart that loved so prosperously.
I walked to her, “you love her?”
“I do, why did you think I came here, why did you think I sat there and listened to you and hear you spew what I could give two shits about. I did it for her, for Rachael.”
Okay ouch and awww.
“Okay. But this changes nothing between us,” I reminded her.
Merona scoffed, “absolutely, I still can't stand you,” her face contorted into one that wanted to puke.
Asshole!
“So will you help me?” She tried to be cute but it wasn't for her.
“Can you stop that,” I said instantly.
“I believe you have a shot at her—”
“Yes!” she squealed.
“But you have to earn it,” I said.
“Yeah I will, but you will be my chaperone,” she smiled, much to my disgust.
“No.”
“Yes, please, put in good words for me, please,” she begged
“Okay you can stop, this whole act,” I pointed at her, “it doesn't suit you,” I let her know and she smiled in return.
We both turned in the direction of the pack house, “and you should give him a chance,” she voiced out of the blue.
“I don't know what you are talking about,” I feigned ignorance.
“You are one lucky bitch you know, you ran away from your mate and met another one, that's why I so hate you, the universe is in your favour,” she said in a jealous tone.
“All the men in your life, if I was into men, trust me girl, I would have stolen them from you,” she said and I chuckled, “think of what I said, give him a shot, he deserves that much after his pack would be a target of Artemis’ and plus he is hot, I don't understand the stalling,” she said.
“Who's hot,” I jerked at the sound of that deep voice that had my thighs in knots.
“Tobbi,” I placed my hand on my chest to calm my racing heart.
“Why are you so startled,” Merona asked and I resisted slapping her by the cheek. Did she have to make me ashamed?
“Why is it your business?” I retorted.
“I see your hormones are reacting to him, my apologies,” she said in the most innocent voice while her face retained a knowing grin.
My face went red, pepper red as I felt my cheeks warm up.
“And now she's red.”
“Merona!” I yelled in frustration. She sent me a smug look and skipped away.
I turned to Tobbi and I resisted the urge to kiss him and punch that grin from his face. His arm found my now big waist and drew me nigh.
Tobbi’s eyes lingered on my eyes then trailed down my lips. A shiver ran down my spine at that thought.
‘Kiss me,’ I wanted to say.
‘Kiss me Tobbi, please,’
I saw his head lean in, and I stood on my toes, eyes fluttered close as his scent clouded my sensory organ. His hand snaked around my neck.
Still, I stood still, his lips heavens.
His lips were as soft as velvet, he kissed with care, with great tenderness that I felt loved, his kiss carried a love message and I softened to it.
‘Artemis is coming for you,’ I pulled back immediately from the kiss.
I mentally slapped myself from pulling away from the goddess lips.
“Are you okay?” he asked in concern.
“I'm fine, I.. Just need to tell you something important,” I spoke.
“Is it the baby, is it time, are you uncomfortable?” he veered around, checking for damage or scratch on my body.
This act made me smile, how he cares, how he loved, how he kissed me and then I broke into sobs.
“Are you okay? What's the problem?” his worried laced voice made me cry even more.
Was I okay?
“I'm okay, I need to tell you something,” I said in between hiccups.
“I'm all ears, tell me,” he urged, directing me to the living room.
“Let's go to your room,” I said and he nodded fervently.
With his guidance he saw me to his room, he opened the door and saw me in. He willed me to his bed and helped me sit.
“What is it?” he asked again.
“It's Arte.. Artemis, he is coming for me,” I looked at him.
“My presence puts your pack in danger, it's dangerous for me to stay here. I want to leave.”
