C85 War
Freya's Pov
They attacked everything, everyone was a mess. A child layed on the floor crying profusely, lost in the bees of Artemis soldiers.
He did this, he attacked us.
“Ahhh!” warriors roared from behind, rushing in with what they could make use of. But what was twenty-five soldiers against hundreds of Artemis'-trained warriors.
The place was rowdy, confusion and cries could be heard. They attacked and we defended the best we could.
There was no doubt, but I knew we would not win. We weren't prepared, we weren't ready.
“Freya!” I heard my name from the mist of dust and people.
“Freya!” I heard again. Who called me, I didn't know, but I did know that the voice was laced and veiled with worries.
In the midst of all this, I, Freya stood perplexed and fear struck. Absorbing the calamities that had befallen us. That I brought to this innocent and once joyful pack.
“Freya!” the voice called again before I was snapped out of my spot by him.
“Well Luna, you really outdid yourself,” his voice like needles pricked my skin and I went still, rigid like a fucking statue.
Artemis, I was in Artemis' arms.
As if struck by lightning, my anger returned, the anger I had felt and projected on the wrong people surfaced and I became horn mad.
He was the reason for the pains, for my miseries, and all the suffering I had been subjected to.
My elbow came up and jabbed his throat. The simple act caught him unaware and he set me free, his throat in his hand.
The smirk he had on retracted but the smug look remained.
“Well, I see, Oslo trained you well,” he commented sadly.
“Just a sign that you are not as good as you think,” I retorted to which he smiled, “I made you believe me,” he stated and my stomach churned. Was this the man I was mated to?
“Freya!” his voice cut through the crowds and heads of people, swirling me round to search for him, for Tobias.
“Tobias!” I yelled back, completely oblivious to the fact that Artemis was a few kilometres away.
“Oh I see, the pup that took you in,” he said like Tobias was one puppy compared to him.
“Don't talk about him like that!” I snarled, bearing my teeth at him.
“Possessive much, I see,” he teased.
“You would know what that means right?” Tobias said from behind me and my heart dropped from fear. He would not stand a chance against Artemis. He and I both knew that.
And by the glint in Artemis eyes I could tell he would very much enjoy taking the last love I had in this life.
“Stay away from him!” I warned and stepped up beside Tobias who pulled me back.
A flash of anger in Artemis' eyes showed that he was jealous, his eyes zeroed in on the hands around my waist, and then suddenly his anger was replaced by a smirk, “you can't have her,” he said like I was some property to be purchased.
“He can!” I snarled, surprising both myself and Artemis and Tobias.
“Well he can't, you are carrying my baby, my heir is in your stomach,” he said and pulled me with such force that would have uprooted my arm from the remains of my body.
“Let me go!” I trashed against his hold, fighting to break free.
“You are coming back with me,” he snarled, “burn everything down!” he commanded.
There were bombs on our pack house, everything was crumbling as I had earlier stated. Falling to the ground.
“No oo,” I shouted out of my lungs.
“Why?” I croaked out, “why have you been destroying everything I had known and called home.”
“Your home is in Waterfall, not in some shady pack!” he barked and I flinched.
“Behind you!” I shouted as one of Artemis pack members attacked Tobias from behind.
They tumbled on the ground together, the other guy was quick to come up and land a punch in Tobias face.
“No! No, let him go!” I cried,
“Please” more guards surrounded him, they grabbed him and landed punch after punch on him. I could barely see his face.
“They are angry, no one takes their Luna away from their pack,” he said and I screamed, “I am not your Luna!”
“Tobias,” I writhe in his arms, scratching and clawing at Artemis' arm.
From the corner of my eye, I saw a pack warrior being attacked and before I knew it, a head rolled to my feet.
I felt myself go dumb, they were more killings, people dying, my people.
Tobias caught my eyes as he jabbed one of the soldiers, spun round and kicked one in the chest. He was fighting them off even with their numbers.
“Freya!” I spun and saw Merona.
Artemis both glared and smirked, “traitor!” he snarled and for the first time I saw past his fine and beautiful face like that of a god, I saw the monster Artemis was, I saw him for him.
“Let her go!” Merona spat.
“All traitors would face their fate tomorrow, for now focus on being alive,” he said and dragged me along.
“No no no!” I cried and stretched forth my hand to Merona.
“Freya! No oo,” she yelled.
“Freya! No!” she ran after me but she was immediately nudged greatly by a warrior that sent her flying.
“Merona—”
“Freya!” Tobias called out to me as he watched me being dragged away.
I felt a sharp pain of realization, I had never told him how I felt, that I loved him and now I was going to die and never say that?
Tears formed and streamed down my tear stained cheeks, “Tobias I love you!” I shouted out to him.
“I love you!” I screamed at the top of my lung.
“I love you,” I whispered as the realization that he didn't hear me through all the boisterous crowd.
He swirled round and raced in the opposite direction.
“No oo, Tobias,” I sobbed.
“Don't worry he won't live long to run away from you. Come to think of it, you never told me you loved me before,” he said.
“You never deserved it, I knew—-”
My words were cut short when a sudden blow pushed Artemis and I to the ground. Swiftly I was pulled out and we were sprinting down the dirty track.
The fire cracked from my skin and I knew right then who it could have been, Tobias.
“You came back,” I said, about to cry again.
“Of course I would, we have to hurry,” he said and I glanced behind me to see Artemis chasing after us.
“Run!” I heard Merona yell from beside me.
“Oh Merona,” I sighed in relief.
“What of Rachael?” I asked as we ran, my head swinging back and forth.
We had lost him, Artemis had given up his chase but he had succeeded in destroying the last life I knew.
After we ran for close to thirty minutes we saw the pack members that were lucky to escape. We froze when we saw Rachael covered in blood.
“Rachael!” we all rushed to her.
