C14 I Want to Try too

Sheng Yan apologized and walked over to Sheng Xiaoyun with a smile.

"Ms. Xiaoyun, to show how sorry I am, let me help you upstairs."

As she spoke, she helped Sheng Xiaoyun up and continued, "Ms. Xiaoyun, I really didn't know the floor was so slippery. Please don't blame me."

Sheng Xiaoyun was tough; she had taken quite a fall, even hitting her head. It would be strange if Zhuang Lan wasn't worried.

Seeing Sheng Yan so compliant, Sheng Xiaoyun assumed she was scared of her, feeling a bit smug. A country girl like Sheng Yan should listen to everything Sheng Xiaoyun said. Maybe then, she’d consider not kicking her out.

Sheng Yan supported her up the stairs, whispering in her ear, "Ms. Xiaoyun, isn't it fun to falsely accuse someone? Does it get addictive? I kind of want to try it."

Her eyes were dark and deep, like an abandoned well.

Sheng Xiaoyun was startled, sensing something was off with Sheng Yan, and tried to pull away.

"Let go of me, I can walk by myself."

Sheng Yan held onto her and said loudly, "Ms. Xiaoyun, this is the staircase. Don't move around; it's dangerous..."

Before she could finish, they both tumbled down the stairs. Sheng Yan quickly wrapped her arms around Sheng Xiaoyun's waist, using her body to protect her own head.

In the end, Xiaoyun's head hit the stair railing hard. If she wasn't hurt before, she certainly was now.

Sheng Yan quickly sat up and reached for Xiaoyun's hand. "Xiaoyun, I told you not to move around..."

Xiaoyun angrily shoved her away. "Get away from me!"

Just then, Zhuang Lan rushed in, witnessing Xiaoyun push Sheng Yan aside. Sheng Yan fell to the side, seemingly injuring her elbow.

Zhuang Lan couldn't believe her eyes, her expression full of shock. "Xiaoyun, what are you doing?"

Xiaoyun was startled. In her anger, she hadn't realized her mom would see this. She had always been the well-behaved and kind one in her mother's eyes, and she couldn't let that image fall apart. Quickly, she put on a pitiful look. "Mom, Sheng Yan pushed me down the stairs on purpose. She wants to hurt me!"

Sheng Yan protested, "Mom, Xiaoyun was moving around and pushed me. I didn't do it on purpose..."

Zhuang Lan had seen both daughters tumble down the stairs. She couldn't immediately tell if Xiaoyun was lying or if Sheng Yan was.

Suddenly, the spot where Xiaoyun hit her head started bleeding. Zhuang Lan hurriedly called for someone to take her to the hospital.

Amidst the chaos, Xiaoyun's forehead was bandaged. The white bandage against her pale face made her look even more pitiful.

Zhuang Lan felt a pang of heartache, momentarily forgetting the scene where Xiaoyun had pushed Yan. She gently asked, "Xiaoyun, how are you feeling now? Are you dizzy?"

Biting her lip, Xiaoyun replied, "Mom, I'm fine. Don't worry."

Seeing her daughter trying to be brave, Zhuang Lan tenderly stroked her hair and said, "Xiaoyun, focus on getting better. I've already informed your brothers, and Nancheng is on his way back."

Her eldest brother, Sheng Nancheng, had been in Mobian City working on an important project. He already felt guilty for missing Xiaoyun's birthday yesterday. When he heard about her injury right after work, he didn't even sleep, taking a private jet back immediately.

By the time he reached the hospital, Xiaoyun's forehead was already bandaged. Seeing Sheng Nancheng, Xiaoyun immediately ran into his arms, acting like a child. "Big brother, you're finally here. I was so scared."

At eighteen, she cried like a little kid, which broke Sheng Nancheng's heart. "Don't cry, Xiaoyun. No matter what happens, I'll always protect you."

Sniffling, Xiaoyun recounted the incident. "I didn't mean to fall in front of Yan. Mom scolded her a bit, and she got mad. She pretended to help me upstairs, then pushed me down."

Sheng Nancheng, who adored his little sister, felt his anger rising with every word.

Sheng Yan really has no manners. Even after being back for so long, she still can't shake off those petty habits.

He shot Sheng Yan a fierce glare, then turned to Xiaoyun with a gentle tone.

"Sheng Yan grew up in the countryside, so she's a bit clumsy. From now on, don't let her help you up the stairs, and try to keep your distance from her."
