The Northern Frontier in winter was the time of year when the scenery was the most beautiful, but also the time of year when it was the most difficult.

It was snowing heavily on the mountain.

The endless snowy mountain disappeared at the end of the sky. The sky and the earth were all serene and pure white.

There was no bright moon overhead, but the world was lit up by the moonlight
