C5

I followed Li Xiaochang out of the school gate and got into a taxi. The driver, a middle-aged man with a dark face, turned his head and looked at us as if it were very strange, when he heard us say where we were going.

I couldn't help but be shocked in my heart. I wondered if he knew this Monk Hong Yu, which was why he was looking at us like that. After all, we were looking for a ghost hunter.

But as we drove out of the city, I realized why he was looking at us like that. It was a wilderness where even people rarely saw each other.

Just as we were driving forward and passing by a small river, I saw a white fog appear on the surface of the water. My heart couldn't help but tighten. Could it be that Li Yu had followed me here so late?

"It's going to rain." the taxi driver said, looking up at the sky and speeding up.

I also looked at the sky, and sure enough, a dark cloud was pressing down, and it looked as if there was going to be a storm soon.

"I say, you two. You want to go out and play? How about another day?" The taxi driver urged the two of us to return home.

Just what was he thinking? How could we be out to play? How am I supposed to pass the night like this?

Li Xiaochen looked at me, read my mind, and told the driver we weren't going back. He told him to keep going.

The taxi driver laughed. He said we were too stubborn and asked all sorts of questions, as if he was concerned about us.

But I didn't dare to tell him too much, afraid that I would run into another weirdo. Actually, this was what my mom had told me when I was still in school, not to casually talk to strangers.

Li Xiaochen seemed to be on guard, but since he was a boy, he was braver than me, so he started to chat with the taxi driver.

So, you guys want to see that Old Daoist Zhang? I've heard that he has some ability, but I've never looked for him. Even the ones looking for him are all in trouble. the taxi driver asked enthusiastically.

I nervously looked at Li Xiaochen and lightly shook my head at him. Although my matter was very troublesome, I still couldn't casually tell him about it.

Actually, Li Xiaochen didn't know what was going on with me. He just came with me, and I haven't told him. Besides, I don't know how to explain it to him.

As if reading my thoughts, the taxi driver couldn't help but look at me in the rearview mirror with a grim expression in his eyes. I wondered what he was thinking about us going to look for the Honglong guy, and that's right, just the two of us students alone would easily be tricked.

"You are freshmen, right?"

"Yes."

"I just left home and I'm not used to it. I'll be fine after a long time."

Sure enough, the taxi driver reminded us both kindly, but how could it be so easy? If I told him what had happened to me, I'm sure he'd be scared too.

Soon there was lightning and thunder, and heavy rain fell down, and the sky darkened. Although it was not as dark as it was at night, it was hard to tell on the other side.

At the same moment, we were about to cross a small bridge over the river.

And look at the water on the bridge, flowing like a waterfall into the river on both sides, making a loud noise, and looking at this terrifying sight, the taxi driver stopped and told us to wait here for a while, and the rain would stop.

I was anxious, I really wanted to rush over right now. But when I looked at Li Xiaochen beside me, he also nodded his head, saying it was because of the heavy rain and there was too much water on the bridge, it would not be safe in the past.

How would they know what I was thinking? I was afraid that Li Yu would change her mind and stop being a ghost and go back to being a water ghost, so I couldn't help but hug my shoulders tightly.

"What kind of river is this? It doesn't seem to be small." Li Xiaochen was free and started chatting with the driver.

This is just a nameless river, everyone calls it the West River. I heard that last year, at this time, an old lady jumped into the river and drowned here. It's a pity, I heard that she was already over 90 years old and had no one to look after her home. The taxi driver sighed.

"He's already 90 some years old and yet he's running here jumping into the river. But here, how did he get here?" I asked curiously, horrified at the name of the river.

"No one knows. It was a road builder who reported the case after seeing his corpse floating up." The chauffeur lit a cigarette and leisurely exhaled the smoke. Looking at the flickering red flame in his hand gave him a sense of security.

"Well, do people drown here often?" I asked.

The taxi driver and Li Xiaochen both laughed. It was not enough to drown one person to death, but it was enough to make them think of this place as a base for drowning people.

I also felt that my question was sudden, and I couldn't help but blush and smile embarrassedly.

"Don't even mention it, there are quite a few people who drowned in this river. I heard that in the past, there were people who drowned in this river as well." The taxi driver seemed to be comforting me, giving me a way out.

But at that moment, a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky, and I saw a white mist floating over the already dark river. To be honest, the white mist was coming straight for our taxi, like a monster running towards us.

Li Xiaochen, who was still chatting, rolled his eyes at me when I heard my scream and asked me what was wrong. I didn't say anything, only looked at the approaching white fog with a pale face.

He didn't know what was going on, but it was very dark outside, and that white fog wasn't invisible because of the darkness, but was rather conspicuous.

Seeing that I didn't answer, Li Xiaochen became a little impatient. She anxiously looked at me with a face full of displeasure.

"Don't talk, let me try and see if I can get there." The taxi driver started the engine. He was in a hurry, and the cigarette in his mouth was trembling. The ash fell on his clothes, but he didn't care.

However, the water on the ground was already very deep. It would not be easy to start the car again. Beads of sweat the size of beans were seeping out from his forehead.

"What's wrong?" Li Xiaochen was still confused. He didn't know what was going on, but he looked at the taxi driver in surprise. He didn't understand why the taxi driver suddenly wanted to rush across the bridge.

However, he soon understood what had happened. His eyes also looked outside the window, and his chubby face couldn't help but break out in sweat.

"Which one of you has something like a talisman?" Li Xiaochen looked at me and the taxi driver with a blank expression.

I don't know if the driver had it with him, but I did have a lot of them, all of which my mother had asked for me, but I left them all at home, not to mention here, even my apartment, my dorm room, not a single one.

The driver didn't answer, thinking that he didn't have such a thing with him.

Li Xiaochen smiled bitterly. He watched as the white fog gradually spread out and approached the taxi. Suddenly, he clasped his hands together and muttered something, as if he was an old monk chanting.

I was inspired by his words and began to mutter to the fog outside. I wasn't reciting scriptures or anything like that, I was reciting about that dead ghost, Li Yu Chi.

If he wants his body to be salvaged from the River Hill sooner, then let us leave here alive, or else I can't help but feed his body to the bastard in the river.

Strange to say, as I was mumbling to myself, I felt a chill on my back, as if a cold wind had blown. I turned my head to look, but there was only the soft back.

I couldn't help but wonder where the cold wind came from even though he had a back to lean on. It was as cold as the winter's ice and snow.

"Don't look back." Li Xiaochen shouted coldly at me. Although his voice was very low, it was very powerful in this already dark taxi, causing me to tremble in fear.

"Why did you come to that Daoist Priest Zhang?" Seeing that I was scared, the taxi driver came back to comfort me and cut to the chase.

"He gave me a name card. It said 'Master Hong Lingtong' or 'Zhang Tianchi' or something like that." I replied in a shaky voice.

"Oh, when did he give it to you?" The chauffeur calmly asked. However, he took the cigarette out of the man's mouth and fiercely pressed it into the ashtray at the side.

"Yesterday." I was still shaking, even more so when I saw him put out the cigarette like that.

Li Xiaochen glanced at me. His eyes behind the thick glasses seemed to flash with a bright light.

In my mind, I started to plan whether or not I should tell them about this matter. After all, I can't let these two people die with me while I don't even know how they died.

In this atmosphere, at this moment, seeing the white fog outside the window surround the taxi as if it were a big package, I wondered if the two of them would really be able to bear it if I said anything more.

The taxi driver continued to start the engine, and the whole body of the car shook slightly, so much so that my internal organs felt like they were about to flip over.

The fog outside the window had become the color of milk, and I was so scared that tears began to well up in my eyes.

At that moment, I saw a large, pale hand reach out of the taxi and push toward the white mist. The white mist, as though it were elastic, was pushed back a little and bounced back.

Suddenly, there was a "pu" sound coming from my side, and blood sprayed towards the window.
