I followed him out of the building, and before I had gone very far I heard a muffled sound from the other side of the building.

When I ran back to check, I saw that the security guards had blocked the entrance to the elevator. I couldn't help but be alarmed and ask the security guard what was going on.

The guard, recognizing me as a resident, told me lightly that the elevator had broken down
