C6 Grandfather's Love

The servants were in a state of disarray, their eyes darting covertly towards Gu Na. It was her ill-conceived plan to change Lin Qingwan into that ridiculous bear costume, and they were hoping she'd step in to speak up for them.

But Gu Na remained silent, her gaze sharply warning them to keep quiet.

The servants bowed their heads and clamped their mouths shut, too afraid to throw Gu Na under the bus.

Lin Qingwan observed all this with a keen eye. She settled onto the couch, elegantly crossing her legs, and turned to Gu Mingfeng with a hint of amusement. "Second brother, grandpa may have arranged for me to stay here, but I must say, I'm not fond of your servants. And then there are the women with their cunning schemes. They're nothing but an eyesore to me."

As she spoke, Lin Qingwan's gaze lingered on Gu Na. If everyone already thought she was a bit foolish and unhinged, she decided to embrace the madness for their benefit.

It was obvious that Lin Qingwan was intent on driving her out. It would have been one thing if it were just the servants, but Gu Na was the Fifth Lady of the Gu family. By rights, Lin Qingwan should have been addressing her as Fifth Sister. Yet this infuriating woman showed no respect and was using her words to edge her out.

"Second Brother, do you hear what she's saying?" Gu Na's eyes brimmed with tears as she looked at Gu Mingfeng with a woeful expression.

Gu Mingfeng, however, simply gestured dismissively and spoke with cool detachment, "There's no need for further discussion. You may leave now, and take the servants with you."

With those words, Gu Mingfeng turned and walked away from the doorway. Moments later, security guards surged into the villa and escorted the servants out, albeit with a modicum of courtesy towards Gu Na, gesturing towards the door, "Fifth Lady, the Second Master requests that you leave."

Gu Na was stunned. All her efforts and the support she had secured crumbled because of Lin Qingwan's arrival. Her face turned a ghastly pale as she clenched her teeth and marched out.

The disheveled servants, jostled by the guards at the entrance, watched her. Gu Mingfeng had made it clear—they were no longer welcome in Mingfeng Garden and were to follow Gu Na.

But Gu Na spared them only a cold glance, her voice low and bitter, "You useless curs, thinking you can still cling to me? Go fend for yourselves!"

In the room, Lin Qingwan's face remained impassive. Aware that she'd be residing there for an extended period, she understood the importance of establishing certain rules. She was no longer the deceased Lin Qingwan, who could endure any insult.

Shortly thereafter, the housekeeper of the Underworld Garden entered with a bevy of new servants. Mindful of past events, they bowed respectfully upon arrival. The housekeeper then announced, "Ninth Lady, these are the clothes Second Master has sent for you."

The servants placed an array of bags and boxes of various sizes in the living room.

Upon opening them, Lin Qingwan discovered they were filled with top-tier designer apparel and footwear. A smile crept onto her lips. Gu Mingfeng was proving to be quite intriguing. She recognized that his generosity stemmed from Old Master Gu's influence, yet it also highlighted his deep respect for the elder.

Clearly, Gu Mingfeng possessed the leadership and courage necessary to lead the Gu family. It appeared the announcement of the family's heir was imminent, and Gu Mingfeng was the obvious choice.

Over the next few days, Lin Qingwan remained in her room, monitoring various online news outlets. The web was abuzz with discussions about the Lan Family patriarch's plane crash.

The official report attributed the crash to severe turbulence, with no mention of foul play. Lin Qingwan's expression turned icy, a surge of anger welling within her. Stepping onto the balcony, she gazed at the tumultuous sea, finding a moment of tranquility.

Meanwhile, in the main house's living room, the Gu family's key members were gathered, including Gu Mingfeng. The atmosphere was tense as they engaged in hushed discussions.

"How could the Lan Family patriarch die so suddenly?" one asked.

"I've always been against partnering with the Lan Family. Now that the patriarch is dead, what happens to our joint venture?" another lamented.

Their voices grew louder as blame was passed around, nearly escalating to a physical altercation.

Gu Mingfeng remained composed in a corner, scrolling through updates on the Lan Family on his laptop.

Old Master Gu, assisted by Uncle Zhou, exited the elevator, bypassing the bickering group to address Gu Mingfeng directly. "Mingfeng, how has Qingwan been settling in? Has she shown any desire to flee, to mingle with unsavory characters?" he inquired.

Gu Mingfeng rose to his feet, a subtle smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "Grandpa, there's no need for concern. She's changed quite a bit and is behaving very well."

Old Master Gu's laughter rang out joyfully. "Well, that puts my mind at ease. Haha, Mingfeng, don't forget my words. As long as the young lady doesn't cause any trouble, you can indulge her with anything she wants, and agree to any of her requests!"

Lin Qingwan was the sole recipient of such doting affection, which sparked a touch of envy among the onlookers. Yet, with the arrival of the elder, no one dared to utter another word.
